Boehner on the stimulus: “Oh. My. God.”

posted at 5:30 pm on January 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Breitbart. Not as memorable as his assessment of the amnesty bill, but more than equal to the task.

They’re going to take their sweet time with deliberations, Hoyer assures us, but I’m not so sure that’s a good thing. The longer this drags on, the more ornaments get put on the tree. Exit quotation: “This product may undershoot the mark.”

Don’t forget his assessment of TARP.

Good for Boehner. It about time that somebody (anybody) decided that enough was enough. These idiots are going to finishing bankrupting the country.

duff65 on January 15, 2009 at 5:37 PM

It’s like there is a fire, but instead of hosing it down with water, Congress is throwing our money on it.

Scranton on January 15, 2009 at 5:37 PM

A little late. I wish he would have said that about the first bailout when the majority of the country was against it and then dug in his heels. He missed his chance to the hero.

Done That on January 15, 2009 at 5:38 PM

Shouldn’t that be “oh my Obama”?

Stop the madness. As long as the U.S. government is giving out free money, then why work for it?

Hog Wild on January 15, 2009 at 5:38 PM

It may seem funny to some, but this, along with the bailout, is the death of our country. We are destroying our children’s future.

You think we can just borrow two trillion (and counting) dollars?

People are going to be in for quite a shock…

Please remember, if they say $1 trillion, it can’t be that much, that is what they need for the “bail out” congress sucks 20%, 30% choose your %, so anything they pass, will end up (it always does) much greater. You have to add admin costs.

Amanda Carpenter has a link to the pdf of the proposed spending and a partial list posted over at Townhall. There’s more liberal wishlist pork in it than anything that will actually help the economy. I wouldn’t mind some spending to build nuclear power plants or shore up and replenish our defense capabilities but not all the fat they have larded it up with.

The point was security. It was made obvious because all of the left were afraid to open their mouths from after 9/11 until Saddam was yanked out of that spiderhole. You make the assumption that only Democrats determined this past election. Many fiscal conservatives voted with their feet without a stand-up presidential candidate to move them to the polls. Not many were very happy with the way Republicans handled the leadership of Congress and, for that, those guys are out. However, rather than learning from those mistakes, the new Democrat Congress is only going to compound the problem. True fiscal conservatives see that and reject it. The actions of the present Congress will not be saved by liberal votes in 2 years, because fiscal conservatism spans the political spectrum…save for the rabid liberal wing.

I wasn’t born to sack and slaughter
But on my soul, I wasn’t born
To stoop and knuckle under
A man can learn to steal some thunder
A man can learn to work some wonder
And when the guantlet’s down,
It’s time to rise and climb the sky
And soon the moon will smoulder
And the winds will drive
Yes, a man grows older but his soul remains alive
All those tremulous stars still glitter
And I will survive!
Let my heart grow colder and as bitter as a falcon in the dive

There was a dream, a dying ember
There was a dream, I don’t remember
But I will resurrect that dream
Though rivers stream and hills grow steeper
For here in hell where life gets cheaper
Oh, here in hell the blood runs deeper
And when the final duel is near
I’ll lift my spear and fly
Piercing into the sky and higher
And the strong will thrive
Yes, the weak will cower while the fittest will survive
If we wait for the darkest hour
Till we spring alive
Then with claws of fire, we devour like a falcon in the dive

I agree with what you said, save what I have highlighted.

This was their plan all along.

Republicans SHOULD vote against this, all of them. Because its good to defecit spend for a pointless war in Iraq but a bad idea to defecit spend for Americans. Is there any wonder Democrats have an overwhelming majority in both houses.

DeathToMediaHacks on January 15, 2009 at 6:29 PM

Theyre still deficit spending in Iraq, and adding another trillion or two on top of it.

Chuck Schick on January 15, 2009 at 6:50 PM

Good grief. I should have guessed it. Boehner is consistently whining and complaining. Has anyone ever heard anything substantive from this guy? A solution?

Frank Burns: Let’s do something! Anything!!!
Hawkeye: I agree with Frank, let’s do anything.

It’s unfortunate, but this country has fallen into the hands of despots, thieves & liars.

The only way to hope for any kind of future is some kind of very serious revolution/revolt.

I know the gutter and I know the stink of the street
For not many years will I press through this festering heat
All those royalties who would tower above me
Those who would give me the smack of their rod
We will give them the gutter
We will give them the judgement of God!
Vengeance victorious
These will be glorious days
We will gather bloody buquets!
Now gaze on our goddess of justice
With her shimmering, glimmering blade
As she kisses these traitors she sings them a last serenade
Sing, swing
Savour the sting
As she severs them, Madame Guillotine
Slice, come paradise
They’ll be smitten with Madame Guillotine

The list I posted above is a short list, there are ten or so pages of the crap spending.

They act like kids in a toy store. I mean, look at Pelosi’s eyes. My 6-yo nephew gets that same look when I take him to Toys-R-Us.

And I heard on the radio that people applying for that free converter kit to make their old TVs useful again…guess what? The fund went belly up.

Don’t get me started on digital tv. I live out in the country. If an analog signal is weak, I’ll get a static-y picture, but it’s still viewable. If a digital signal is weak, you can’t see a darn thing except pixaleated mess. So on top of the converter box, I’ll also need a roof antennae to have decent reception.

Thanks (anti-pro)gress

Much more than a Crap Sandwich.\

More like a Craploaf.

Or a Crap Buffet.

Crap-stuffed turd. Served with a side of steaming…..

The socialist democrat jackanapes are always runnin’ round in some disguise
When they’ll finally bankrupt us, the devil only knows
It’s unfortunate to note their boondoggle spending just grows and grows

PercyB on January 15, 2009 at 7:00 PM

Obama’s first year deficit will be more than the entire budget was for Bush’s first year.

A bunch of pigs feeding at the trough. This is a disgrace and the madness MUST stop.

ANY STINKIN REPUBLICAN THAT VOTES FOR THIS NIGHTMARE WILL NOT BE RE-ELECTED.

stenwin77 on January 15, 2009 at 7:02 PM

Not many were very happy with the way Republicans handled the leadership of Congress and, for that, those guys are out. However, rather than learning from those mistakes, the new Democrat Congress is only going to compound the problem. True fiscal conservatives see that and reject it. The actions of the present Congress will not be saved by liberal votes in 2 years, because fiscal conservatism spans the political spectrum…save for the rabid liberal wing.

genso on January 15, 2009 at 6:43 PM

+1 I am more furious with Republicans who blew it. They completely screwed up and handed us this mess. It is staggering beyond comprehension.

The Dems have seized the opportunity to put their disastrous policies into play. And they will. And IF Americans have the wits in the future to change them it will take many, many years.

The Dems are cunning. By the time anyone tries to alter the damage that is done it will take a monumental effort because the entitlement mindset will have been taken to the levels of true European socialism. Look to the UK. Look to the EU. That’s where we’re going.

We see that no matter how we vote and no matter what the polls say our politicians do as they choose. Amnesty for illegals is one good example. Bailouts? Forget it. Congress will spend your money as they see fit and tax you into your grave.

Welcome to the United Socialist State of America. Pelosi, Reid and Obama only ask that you shut up and pay. And if you don’t, it doesn’t matter because no one is paying attention. Just get back to work and pay your taxes.
