Video: Rick Sanchez dumps all over Joe the Plumber

And I do mean all over. There’s bad blood here and it shows: This is nothing more or less than Sanchez’s version of an Olbermann special comment, replete with juvenile verbal tics to emphasize his contempt for his subject (“Samuel” replaces Olby’s sneering “sir” when addressing Bush). Never did I think I’d say this, but even by Olber-standards, the condescension here is simply exquisite.
Bill Whittle clarifies JTP’s comments about keeping the media away from the front lines at PJM:
What was more distressing to me was that some extremely patriotic men — J.D. Johannes for example — construed that to mean that Joe was referring to people like him, and Michael Yon, and Michael Totten; people who, at great risk to their lives and on their own dime, have for years now been placing themselves in harm’s way in order to get out the story that is not getting out any other way.
I think this is a terrible misunderstanding, although certainly an understandable one. I cannot speak for Joe, but I for one let that remark flow right over me simply because I took it to mean that he was referring to the leftist, anti-Western, so-called “professionals” from Reuters and the BBC and others; people who he has confronted on the ground in Gaza on the moral grounds that they are there to show each and every Palestinian casualty (and willing to fabricate them if necessary) while remaining utterly mute and invisible while rockets rain down on Israeli families. I cannot imagine for an instant that Joe was referring to common citizens like J.D., Mike Yon, and Mike Totten who — like me and like Joe himself for that matter — are simply regular people called to try and fight back against the tide of bias and outright deception we see in the media.
Maybe so, but according to Roggio, elsewhere JTP says, “I think the military should decide what information to give the media and then the media can release it to the public. I don’t believe they need to be in the front lines with soldiers, I don’t believe they need to, uh, you know, be bothering the military for information or for access to certain areas.” I’m not registered at PJTV so I can’t watch the clip, but that sounds like he’s opposed in principle to the idea of independent war reporting — or at least, “independent” reporting that won’t reliably report things exactly the way the military would like. Yon, Totten, Johannes, and Roggio are all unambiguously pro-western but none of them, I’m sure, would agree to that, especially someone like Yon who’s warned for years that Afghanistan’s falling to pieces.
Anyway, here’s Rick’s Olbermann impression.

<strong>43 killed, does that not qualify JPT statement?
A Reporter, being non-military, having never TRAINED, probably haven’t a clue what to do in the middle of a war and get them self’s killed.
Are reporters “certified” to be in a war zone?
Are there different “classes” for reporters license?
Like our drivers license, Class A, can drive ANYTHING, trucks, buses with passengers on board.
Class B, same as Class A, but you can’t Carrie passengers?
And Class C, normal everyday license, like we all have?
BTW did JTP actually say “coma”
DSchoen on January 15, 2009 at 5:28 AM
If 41 journalists have died in war zones…why would you keep sending them there? Sanchez is like that neighbor that comes to your backyard BBQ and brags that his profession is dangerous and his colleagues are dying, and he is a hero, but he wouldnt go anywhere near a war zone, he likes to tally the deaths from his money-losing employers offices,
and brag he suffered the ravaging regime of Fidel Castro.
malkinmania on January 15, 2009 at 6:28 AM
This oozing with condescension snippet from Sanchez explains why the Dinosaur Media are so in love with Barry Baby: A smooth talking way with words matters more than the content of those words. So Sanchez, let’s see your college transcripts. Let’s see what you’ve actually studied (not that it means you learned anything, but it would still be instructive).
RickZ on January 15, 2009 at 6:43 AM
Rick Sanchez being tasered. Just … putting it all into perspective.
BrideOfRove on January 15, 2009 at 7:03 AM
Give Sanchez some BDUs and a flak jacket and send his overpaid, mouthy ass to the combat zone. It’s also time to reallocate our electromagnetic spectrum to someone other than these “C” average mainstream media jerks that use it only to trash our country.
rplat on January 15, 2009 at 7:08 AM
I guess if you watch CNN you would know who Rick Sanchez is.
I don’t watch CNN and watching that clip reminds me why that is.
Bicyea on January 15, 2009 at 7:18 AM
Friggin arrogant newsman wannabe.
johnnyU on January 15, 2009 at 7:30 AM
Rick the hit-n-runner.
the_nile on January 15, 2009 at 7:57 AM
Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
blish on January 15, 2009 at 7:58 AM
Not watching, but safe in the knowledge that Joe the Plumber – who has zero business commenting on serious news for broadcast purposes – nonetheless has just as much talent and training as Rick “Dirty” Sanchez, the lightest of lightweights.
Jaibones on January 15, 2009 at 7:59 AM
Sanchez is a toll. his “news” show is basically Entertainment Tonight-esque.
jbh45 on January 15, 2009 at 8:06 AM
I really don’t like little Ricky Sanchez, but IMHO Joe is out of his realm.
Joe is a great guy, but I think he’s being used like McCain used him.
Mercy4Me on January 15, 2009 at 8:06 AM
I lived in Miami when Rick was the anchor on the local tabloid news show. He is a first class hack. Did I mention that he got drunk at a football game, and ran over a guy and killed him?

Rick’s Hit and Run
faraway on January 15, 2009 at 8:22 AM
Rick, in summary:
- drunk driving
- ran over a man and left him there
- lied to police
- lied to the public
- then man was paralyzed, and disabled, and went into a coma, then died
faraway on January 15, 2009 at 8:28 AM
So, Sanchez is a racist, then — so it appears.
MoveOn really hates Joe. The Left in general hates Joe, like they hate Sarah Palin. They just hate whoever it is is decent and especially popular among the Right.
At this point, perhaps we on the Right out to start deeming the Leftist’s hate as a badge of honor. As in, if you’re hated by the Left, YOU’RE GREAT!
:)
S on January 15, 2009 at 8:40 AM
I received some loathesome spam from MoveOn all about how they were steamed and hating on Joe the Plumber. Something like, “how DARE he be a journalist – his fifteen minutes of fame are over!” complete with a lot of exclamation points.
The MoveOn fools who sent this to me — unsolicited as in, spam — publishes on rackspace.com who, according to SpamCop, “doesn’t want to receive reports” about this org’s spam.
Ha, doesn’t want to receive the reports. So I guess that makes their spam all.ok.
Spam and the Left, two roaches in a motel.
S on January 15, 2009 at 8:43 AM
And I wonder how it is even possible that Sanchez is not now in jail…
S on January 15, 2009 at 8:44 AM
Exactly. It’s not legitimate news reporters complaining about JtP; it’s no-talent hacks. Insecure much, killer?
Jaibones on January 15, 2009 at 8:48 AM
Joe is great … Who needs newspapers and TV journalist to serve up the propaganda any more.
What happens to America when the press isn’t free? You get an Odummer.
tarpon on January 15, 2009 at 8:57 AM
Rick Sanchez was putting on a show for his at-home audience and in-house associates. He knows what the station’s audience is comprised of, and what their leanings are.
Perhaps it made him feel like “a man” to spew his diarrhea of the mouth as he took advantage of the bully pulpit and made his vain attempt to “be somebody” important at “Joe’s” expense.
Sanchez has a spot on camera on a news show. Can’t you see how important he is? He is more important than “Joe” the plumber, who is a REAL plumber, who does REAL plumbing work, and who is a real human being with a real working brain and the ability to speak and communicate.
Do you feel better about yourself now, Sanchez, now that you’ve outed yourself as a self centered, arrogant, condescending pris?
I’m not impressed.
William2006 on January 15, 2009 at 9:39 AM
Ricardo:
First, you took Samuel’s statement out of context (naturally) inferring he said all reporting should be abolished. Samuel referred to war reporting. You made it sound like he wanted to eliminate free press. Not cool Ricardo but I’m not surprised.
Second, if reporting is “requisite – essential to democracy” why do MSM outlets like CNN & MSNBC always filter the news to promote their own Liberal agendas? Why wasn’t reporting “essential” in the Presidential campaign when it came to reporting and vetting Barack Obama?
Ricardo, you are the infamous pot calling the kettle black. You got a lot a splainin’ to do!
Mr_Magoo on January 15, 2009 at 10:12 AM
Wow. Tough guy. Wearing makeup.
LtE126 on January 15, 2009 at 10:16 AM
First Why isn’t Sanchez in jail? Anyone?
Second- Sounds like Joe is doing what all journalists do these days, giving us his opinion. I’m think a Pulitzer could be in his Future.
BiasedGirl on January 15, 2009 at 10:26 AM
Sanchez’ histrionic delivery aside, everything he said was perfectly defensible. Joe’s comments on the media’s role in covering a war were completely ridiculous. Until he retracts them, Joe deserves this type of criticism, and PJTV deserves to be treated like a joke.
Enrique on January 15, 2009 at 11:17 AM
Which is exactly what we need. More regular, sensible people in media, and in government.
It scares them to death because MSM and government are hand in hand to lead us down the socialist, “politically correct” path, and they see this as a sort of insurrection by the masses.
And the masses very much need to insurrect. They count on us being docile, and knowing our place, which to them, is being quiet and subservient and totally powerless.
Alana on January 15, 2009 at 11:25 AM
In a galaxy far, far away good little journalism students were actually taught how to write a story using a simple outline like who, what, where, when, how, etc. etc. But that was too simple for their complicated and complex way of thinking. After all, they are such smart people and are in the spotlight more if they tell us what they think. They actually thought that we gave a rat’s @ss. They had to tweek and massage the message so that it told you nothing except the writers adjenda. The media was the message. Oh, joy and hallelujha.
I quit my Time Magazine subscription back in the 60’s. It was a long time before I subscribed to a newspaper and then only got it for the advertisements and to check out what was coming to the Kennedy Center. Since we moved to a normal place I did subscribe to the local paper for a reason I can’t remember so I quit taking it. What I need to get from that paper is available on line for free.
Frankly, I haven’t seen anything JTP has said in his new role. The reaction to the very news that he is going to Israel to tell us what is happening there tells me that they don’t want that news to get out. They are too chicken to go there so they report from here with a few pictures and video clips. I think the imbeds with the army during the Iraq War has them shell shocked and they just love telling us how much they hate war and want Peace at any cost. After all a few of them are no longer with us. They don’t WANT to understand the concept of being an American. Is anybody paying any attention to them? They are spoiled brats throwing temper tantrums. Go Joe. Do your thing. At least you know what it means to be an American.
BetseyRoss on January 15, 2009 at 11:39 AM
if
rickDick Sanchez really wants to rip on JTP perhaps he needs to get his a$$ out of the studio and go join JTP. other wise just stfu. He is just another CNN tool.Mojack420 on January 15, 2009 at 11:58 AM
I’ve said it over and over, but THIS is the one guy who I can’t imagine having any other thought in his head at any one moment than “How do I look and sound on camera right now?” If he were in front of the Twin Towers as they were collapsing, he’d be posing and trying different camera angles on himself.
Marcus on January 15, 2009 at 11:59 AM
I don’t know why Sanchez isn’t in jail either, but he should be if those are the true facts. He’s a pompous, arrogant little ass-hole who couldn’t find his behind with both hands.
Alana, you’re right, it does scare them to death when “real” people claim the spotlight, ie Sarah Palin, JTP. They prefer that we “production units” (according to the IRS) stay in our place, continue to ride in the back of the bus, while the smart-ass, empty, godless ones lead the way to the inevitable destruction of our country.
I’ll tell you one damn thing – if we don’t figure out what the hell to do…and fast…we’ll be hearing the jack-booted thugs banging on our doors and wondering why we didn’t take our freakin country back when we could.
kooziegirl on January 15, 2009 at 12:45 PM
All of the Liberals i have seen on tv
Actually spew so much Hatred for both
President Bush
Our fine military
Conservatives
and Christians
That you can actually FEEL their hatred comming from the tv screen..
So i just have totally written off ALL liberals as a waste
and ALL Liberal Shows as a wasteland full of garbage..
jcila on January 15, 2009 at 1:43 PM
I see Sanchez is the obnoxious pretty boy twit at the block party, dropping names and just being very much of a jerk. Joe, keep working, reporting from wherever they send you. I may not agree with some of you have to say. But, then I never fully agree with anyone of the talking heads on TV.
SC.Charlie on January 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
This guys is such a condescending douche-bag.
romanianhacker on January 15, 2009 at 2:40 PM
It’s the latest installment of the media’s ignorant clown of the month club.
Seriously, why give this guy any publicity. I don’t know who he is and I really don’t care what he thinks about anything.
