Is Obama meeting with Rush Limbaugh tonight? Update: Nope

posted at 7:35 pm on January 13, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Sounds nutty, I know, but Ambinder breaks news that The One’s dining with “conservative opinion leaders” in Maryland, evidently at George Will’s house. Among the attendees: Bill Kristol, David Brooks, and … anyone else?

Coincidentally, I got an e-mail from a reader shortly after noon noting that Limbaugh had a surprise guest host today who spent the beginning of the show dropping hints that Rush had been called away to urgent business in D.C. and that it might have to do with something he said yesterday about giving Obama advice. I ignored it — but now they’re dropping hints on the EIB homepage, too.

Is this happening? The One’s charm offensive is actually going to beat a path to the golden microphone? What’s next, drinks with Coulter? Exit question: Whither the blogosphere in a post-partisan age?

Update: No Rush at dinner, a source tells HuffPo.

Its probably some other fake conservative just like Will, Brookes, and Powell.

Conservative Talk Show Moderators may be having a special meeting tomorrow to talk about the Fairness Doctrine. Barry named a new FCC Commissioner today.

kingsjester on January 13, 2009 at 8:29 PM

Good idea. They really need to work together and plan a strategy to combat it even if the end result is that we will all have to grab our rifles and head to DC.

FloatingRock on January 13, 2009 at 8:57 PM

If Rush is getting Obama’s ear, this is great then I hope he brought a wheelbarrow to carry it home. If Obama, however, is getting Rush’s ear, this is the end of conservatism.

They reps have to know there is a revolt brewing in the party. They have operatives that listen to talk radio. A revolution’s coming and millions of conservatives are juuuust beginning to get that fire lit under their butts. The R. leadership know this and they may be numb but they aren’t dumb.
Every stinkin’ one of them is going to be working in the private sector in 2010 if they don’t do something and they know their constituents have NOTHING to lose at this point.
A meeting with the one of the leaders of the Conservative party may be exactly what they are doing because they are clueless and castrated and Rush is the man.

I want to know if he will meet with the real players in american politics..

Ugo (commie chaves)?

Putin (were gona cut off you gas and screw you with our missles in the ass) ?

Terrorist supporters of hamass, bill airs… abnd of course the ACLU..
Heck i will bet that obama will invite abina wack job over for TEA and Crumpets.. (before he hands over israel to iran on a silver platter)

Heck the only one NOT on the list is Osama bin laden
Thats cause our cia still cant find him…

So dont worry about obama meeting any and i mean AY , republican or conservative..
You know what ever is said obama will completly ignore it..
The only time obama cares for the real americans is when
he needs COVER for the DEMORATS..

Good thing Barryo’s not catholic. I understand that around the renaisannce, getting an invite for dinner from the pope usually meant that was your last meal. You couldn’t really refuse.

bullseye on January 13, 2009 at 9:43 PM

I think Obama is realizing that, like it or not, Rush has his finger on the pulse of this country and its feelings, and if he wants to get anything done, he may have to do a tad bit of research on what the “non-Messiah” masses feel.

By the way, wasn’t Rush a big McCain critic? Considering that McCain was an actual liberal ass-kisser, and Rush called him on it, I don’t see him jumping ship anytime soon.

MadisonConservative on January 13, 2009 at 9:44 PM

Condoleezza Rice? Traitor.

George W Bush? Recent traitor. No need for him anymore.

Bill O’Reily? Yeah, total traitor. He licked his boots in the interview where he only asked him how he got this winning smile. Yeah. Thats the only questions he asked. Just that. Never asked him about his racist pastor. And the DVD for sale in the lobby.

What can I say.

Juean McAmnesty? Absolutely the biggest traitor of them all. He hates Palin, that should be obvious.

and now Rush ………………….

………………… Could be.

Stay tuned.

wise_man on January 13, 2009 at 9:45 PM

melachiro on January 13, 2009 at 9:42 PM

Huh? I must have missed all the GOP leaders who were touting Sarah Palin this fall and who have embraced her into the inner circle this winter.

Rush is most definitely not operating off of GOP talking points. He may be generating some by reaching out to and giving voice to the base, but I don’t think it’s accurate to suggest that he is parroting what a few GOP big wigs are pushing (unlike Sean Hannity, who is a well-intentioned guy but much more of party-liner, imho).

FloatingRock on January 13, 2009 at 10:00 PM

If Rush were invited to meet with Obambi, he’d go and enjoy himself, and he’d get in a word or two (you can bet it wouldn’t be one-on-one). I hope that if this rumor were true, that Rush would at least plant a seed of doubt in Obambi’s head about the ‘global warming’ hoax.

Of course the socialists (of which Obambi is one) won’t let go of the hoax easily, because it’s such an obvious road to huge taxes and control of the economy, but a little doubt might give a slick politician like Obambi pause. And the more pause the better; the longer the cold years last, the better chance we have of keeping the socialist paws out of our pockets and our lives.

The image of Bill Kristol, David Brooks and Rush, in a ménage à quatre, kissing the O’s ring ars, by “Mr. President-erect elect this, or that”, while Will, the aristocratic host, just smirks, full of his faux significance, the event just having topped it, is sweet.

Thanks, Esthier! As Mad said, time’s flown. And that is no lie. I will try to be around a bit more often going forward. I’ve missed you all.

Happy New Year to my HA family! And with that I’m off to bed. :)

Dude, he did the same for me! Party in the after life!

Esthier on January 13, 2009 at 10:34 PM

I’m pretty sure he did it for me twice, so I have reservations for two!

What is more interesting is Rush and David brooks in the same room. Talk about uncomfortable.
Rush slams Brooks on a fairly constant basis as everything wrong with the so called conservative media.
If they go at it I predict Rush will try to take the fight to the ground while Brooks would proably try to keep it standing and use his reach advantage.
Rush by TKO in first if he does not die of a heart attack.

I watched a little of Hannity tonight. There was a rep from the RNCC. Everytime Hannity tried to get her to question anything the O machine is doing, thinking, proposing etc. she would hum a new verse of Kumbaya.

Turn off your mind folks. The wise ones will take care of everything.

O Lord, kumbaya

RUSH was in the ceremony as I said.

jencab, true – Maryland is right there too. He’ll brag about it tomorrow, or smirk at the rumors. Tomorrow is near enough.

I saw the same segment. Karen Henritty (sp?) was the woman your speaking of. I was really surprised at her whole tone and I think Hannity was too. I have seen her before and she seemed like a real republican attack dog. Tonight though she was definitely full of the “hope and change.” Is this part of the don’t make waves and be nice to the Obama administration that the republican operatives have been pushing?? Is this also tied in with Will and Brooks having dinner with Obama? Something is afoot folks . . . and I think the republicans may be setting conservatives up for long walk off a short pier politically.

Manly? I miss him.

Even better.

Esthier on January 13, 2009 at 10:58 PM

If Obama is meeting Rush, I’ll be stunned. He has no reason to.

SouthernGent on January 13, 2009 at 10:59 PM

Or maybe Obama is meeting with Will and Brooks to see if he can get a little good press with the Washington Post and New York Times perhaps?

We’ll just have to fix it so that all of the swords on the boat, (excuse me, “ship”), are double edged. But a plank won’t be much use, grab some rope and let’s keel haul the louts.

FloatingRock on January 13, 2009 at 11:10 PM

Oh come on, did anyone really believe Obama would have met with Rush, or was interested in anything a conservative had to say?
