Video: Coulter appearance on “The View” goes exactly as you’d expect

posted at 5:41 pm on January 12, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | regular view

Eight and a half minutes of contentious cross-talk, most of it dwelling on a proposition that even the left is grudgingly coming around on. Do note Sherri’s admonition towards the end about tone. Whoopi didn’t seem too worried about that recently when she wondered aloud vis-a-vis Coulter whether the carpet matches the drapes. Behar called her a “bitch” at the same event, a slight Coulter really shouldn’t take personally: Joy dropped the same insult on Michelle in 2007. And then took John McCain to task for not objecting to it when someone dropped it on Hillary soon after. Of course.

Blowback

If ABC really wanted to make a fortune and have the best ratings of any show in history, they would dump Hasselbeck and hire Coulter as the token conservative. She would wipe the floor with them every day. And it would be entertaining as hell. I would DVR the show and watch it for the first time ever if they did that.

ditto that.

This is like the bonus round of “Spot the idiot(s).”

Rock on, Ann!

On a related note, Anchorage Daily News publishes Sarah Palin’s full e-mail complaining about their coverage and bias.

Coulter’s a buffoon. The women on The View are all buffoons. Match made in heaven.

dakine on January 12, 2009 at 5:48 PM

Wow. She really wants to sell that book.

Tanya on January 12, 2009 at 5:51 PM

Michael in MI on January 12, 2009 at 5:43 PM

Or they could fire all of those women that make the show completely unwatchable. Generally replacing things that are unwatchable with things that are watchable increases ratings.

How about a full hour of women with large breasts playing with adorable puppies? That would be a ratings gem, and it would be more intellectually stimulating than The View.

jimmy the notable on January 12, 2009 at 5:51 PM

Michael in MI on January 12, 2009 at 5:43 PM

Now that would be must see tv. But you know that would never happen. Those shrews women know very well she would embarrass them on a daily basis, so they wouldn’t go for it no matter what ratings it might bring.

How can anyone watch these hags

and I wonder if they hate Hasselbeck mainly because she is attractive

Don’t get your hopes up. Coulter makes more money than all four combined. I doubt she’d take the cut in pay to sell Tide 5 mornings a week.

The View is just about the worst thing on TV… except for the Hannity Show.

lexhamfox on January 12, 2009 at 5:53 PM

Ann Coulter… my hometown gal…

Although I have loved all her books, she is what she is…her CPAC remarks about the infamous “Edwards/Fa**ot” debacle was the last straw.

And not fer nuttin’, but doesn’t Joyless Behar look really uncomfortable with Ann at the table?

JetBoy on January 12, 2009 at 5:53 PM

“I don’t see any compassion that you have.”

Joy Behar really knows a thing or two about compassion, I guess. (Didn’t watch the video, so if she didn’t say this, fine, but the point is still valid.)

It was REAL compassionate to charge all home-schooled children of being demented. (For the record, two of my best friends are home-schooled. *cue cheap shot*)

And my latest blog entry reminds again of all the “compassion” directed Palin’s way.

These people are a joke. They are a self-parody.

Harpies, indeed.

pseudonominus on January 12, 2009 at 5:52 PM

I believe they only hate her attractiveness, because she is conservative. Were she a left-leaning lunatic like the rest of them, they would spend the entire show each day making comments about how gorgeous she is every 5 minutes.

It all comes down to ideology with the Left.

That means Liberals only write books as a hobby!(Sarc!)

And Whoopi is chastiseing Anne on single motherhood!

Now,what was that crack about slavery Whoopi said back
when!!

canopfor on January 12, 2009 at 5:59 PM

You can dish it out, but you can’t take it.

Yeah, she can’t take trying to respond to five people cross-examining her simultaneously to the point that nobody could hear what was just asked.

Get bent, Whoopi.

MadisonConservative on January 12, 2009 at 6:00 PM

Wow. She really wants to sell that book.

Tanya on January 12, 2009 at 5:51 PM

And sell it she will, my dear. Sell it she will.

Jaibones on January 12, 2009 at 6:00 PM

Those View idiots didn’t even realize that they were providing a perfect example of what Ann is criticizing in her book. She cites statistic after statistic supporting her contention that single motherhood has, on the whole, a disastrous impact on society even as it is held to be something sacrosanct by that same society, and all they can do is shriek that she’s “attacking” single mothers.

Hasselbeck’s a huge disappointment. It’s like she’s got Stockholm Syndrome after being surrounded by those imbeciles.

Wow. She really wants to sell that book.

Yeah. Is that a criticism? What author doesn’t want to sell their books? I admire that Ann’s willing to expose herself to crapfests like that in order to get the word out.

Watching that makes me want to buy another copy of the book.

Kensington on January 12, 2009 at 6:00 PM

JetBoy on January 12, 2009 at 5:53 PM

The irony is… would anyone have even given a rat’s patootie about CPAC were Ann Coulter not there? Nope. That’s why Michelle Malkin and HotAir spent most of their posts about CPAC that year ripping on Coulter. Because they knew no one cared about CPAC, but they cared a lot about Coulter.

manofaiki on January 12, 2009 at 6:02 PM

I watched the video. Props to Ann for going into the lion’s den. Those ladies are ridiculous and hypocrites. Whoopi says, “You can dish it out but can’t take it” when they did the same thing to Coulter w/o her on the show and then with her. If Coulter was a regular, I predict Behar would be in a straightjacket within a month. She looks like she’s ready to pounce on Coulter in the clip.

I’d like to amend my previous comment after watching the clip. I wouldn’t waste my DVR space even with Coulter on the show. (Isn’t that what YouTube is for?) I am a Coulter fan, but not the other buffoons. Waste. Of. Time.

conservative pilgrim on January 12, 2009 at 6:02 PM

Wow, what a cunning array of stunts.

Rock on Ann!

Tim Zank on January 12, 2009 at 6:03 PM

There is no hate like left wing hate, and there is no hypocrisy like left wing hypocrisy. I can’t stand to watch these ladies. It used to be fun to watch them back in the day, but the constant shouting that goes on now just gets tiresome; especially because they so rarely use actual facts or do basic research to back up their arguments.

meltenn on January 12, 2009 at 6:03 PM

The collective IQ of the View Broads almost makes double digits. In fact some of my brain was sucked out just for watching this.

OTOH, Ann is intrepid.

bill30097 on January 12, 2009 at 6:05 PM

Ann had the best comebacks… just to bad nobody could hear it because of the constant over talking – not letting her answer a single question – audience clapping randomly and stupidly….

regardless- Liberals always take the extreme positions on stuff, such as Abortion – first arguement you hear is “what if the girl was raped!” considering majority of abortions are not from “rape”

Or single motherhood – “what if some millonaire woman wants to have a baby without a daddy, she could take care of it well!” …. most single mothers are poor and live off the government… or are teenagers who fucked up their lives because they no longer can go to college or find a husband that has a bit a class…

Kensington on January 12, 2009 at 6:00 PM

Exactly. Maybe the right could learn a thing or two from Ann. Instead of allowing the Left to control every freaking medium of information and allowin them to spew their lies and get their word out, Ann does what she has to do in this completely ridiculously unfair playing field to get her word out. More power to her. She fights the left and says to hell with PC BS.

Now, if the right cares to actually get their word out, they will take a lesson from Ann. People don’t like her, but she is 100 times LESS radical and over-the-top than the Left, which is succeeding in every.single.area. of government and media. So the problem is *not* being radical and non-PC, it is the fact that the Left has set the rules for the game and the right gives in and accepts to play by them. Ann to to effin hell with that, she is going to rip up their rule book and get her word out there. Good on her.

The right could learn a lot from Coulter.

Michael in MI on January 12, 2009 at 6:06 PM

I knew Ann Coulter on the show would be a “Let her answer!” fest.

Marcus on January 12, 2009 at 6:06 PM

Coulter nailed them down. She promoted her book and summed it up perfectly: you must make judgment calls. Compassion should have no bearing on discerning between right and wrong. If you make the right judgment call, you are being compassionate. I am buying her book, and this segment from The View sealed the deal. I love how she brought up Barack Obama after Joy Behar attacked “her girl Sarah Palin.” This was like a fight scene where the hero takes on a half dozen goons who just watch one after another of their friends get stomped.

Wade on January 12, 2009 at 6:09 PM

So bill, let me get this straight. From your point of view, I must like Coulter or I’m some sort of liberal troll. Do I have that right? Yet another example of why the fundamentalist right is no different from the fundamentalist left.

dakine on January 12, 2009 at 6:09 PM

Ann Coulter is very knowledgeable and a sharp wit, but some of her namecalling is so over-the-top that she scares off wishy-washy voters who may otherwise be attracted to conservative positions, and she becomes the straw-(wo)man to be attacked by the Left.

If they replaced Lizzie Hasselbeck by Laura Ingraham, not only would ratings go up, but minds would be changed. Laura Ingraham knows how to defend conservatism convincingly without being insulting, and would be far more effective than Ann Coulter (or Hasselbeck) at winning wishy-washy women to the conservative side. Which is probably why “The View” is afraid of her.

Now if only someone could convince Laura to go on the show…

Whoopie decided to kill one of her own children, and she questions Ann’s right to discuss motherhood based on experience?

She also had to sneak in the last word while the zombies in the audience cheer. Pathetic.

Fair point, but they could definitely have someone better to make the conservative case. I’m sure that Baba keeps her around because she’s normally ineffective at making the case for our side. The few times I watched during the campaign I just had to shake my head at her for failing to bring up the obvious rebuttals (all backed up by facts) to what the other ladies were saying.

Seven Percent Solution on January 12, 2009 at 6:12 PM

It’s tempting to point out that women seem to take special pleasure in attacking other women, but the truth is that these women are lefty moonbats, and that is what is going on here, not a woman vs woman thing.

There isn’t a one of the moonbats with 1% of the mental firepower of Anne Coulter

notagool on January 12, 2009 at 6:12 PM

Whoopie kept on asking ‘are you married’ and that was completely irrelevant to the issue of increased crime as a result of single parent children, and as Coluter sees this as the left’s assault on traditional family. Not really that proud that Coulter is one of ours because I think she goes overboard too often (not any more overboard than whoopie, and the other “fire never melted steel – google it”idiots on that show, and that’s the double standard) but she was great in that video clip. At least the first part that I saw.

wise_man on January 12, 2009 at 6:12 PM

I can’t believe Barbara Walters is considered a respectable journalist. She makes Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar look like scholars.

Kensington on January 12, 2009 at 6:12 PM

They chose the dumbest conservative woman they could find. Patricia Heaton would take them all to school.

Rae on January 12, 2009 at 6:06 PM

I wouldn’t say dumb. I would just say ‘least assertive’ and composed. I don’t blame her for not being able to hold her own when getting bombarded from every side from those despicable stunning cunts (as someone mentioned earlier).

However, you are correct that other women *would* be able to hold their own. But I don’t think it is because they are smarter, I just think it is because they have the personality to better handle it. Hasselbeck just seems very submissive and rattles easy. And liberals – especially the harpies on The View – feast on that.

But I believe that each of those women on The View are like bullies. If they had 3 strong conservative women on the show with them every day who did not put up with their BS and called them out on it every time and stood up to their bullying, they would probably get just as submissive as Hasselbeck when faced with an actual challenge. These three thrive only because they bully people around. When stood up to, they would crumble.

Michael in MI on January 12, 2009 at 6:13 PM

“The View” is a garbage heap of airheaded remarks aimed at ill-informed rubes who don’t understand the nonsense of the very concept of the ignorant knitting group. Oh those five! This is without considering the bias and stupidity of the the specific remarks by the ‘hosts’. The queen of comment was Joy (such a fitting name) attacking Governor Palin in a complete non sequitir. How does Governor Palin’s recent complaining about bias in a recent election relate to the media venerating several toxic influences, like single motherhood? She uses a victim of one head of the dragon (Governor Palin) to make the case against acknowledging the damaging tail. And the dragon is the media.

But the entire show? An equivalent would be a countryside and farm opinion show with five men to attack anyone left of Governor Huckabee. Hhhhmmmmm….Could we call Fox about this idea? Use it to augment or preceed football or baseball games. Soldier, construction worker, policeman, economist and..wait a minute that can’t compare to the view! Those guys may KNOW something. Do liberals ever let conservatives have the last word? I know it routinely goes the other way, from O’Reilly to Medved to Prager. Does Hannity do that, too?

Kensington on January 12, 2009 at 6:16 PM

I hate all these women except Coulter.
You can see Joyless Haggard foaming at the mouth.
Whoopi looks like a cheap imitation of the Predator.
Sherri Shephard is an idiot who thought the world was flat.
Barbara needs to retire.
The audience is full of NOW members (or National Organization of Really Ugly Women as Mark Levin says.)
Notice how liberal women are ugly, lonely, and unhappy. Elisabeth is beautiful, married, and has a wonderful family.

However, Elisabeth needs to stop crying and start taking a hint at how to debate liberal fools. The women take advantage of her and I don’t like it. She looks like a push-over. And Elisabeth needs to stop hating on Ann and Rush. They are the best at what they do, she should take a clue.
These liberal idiots want republicans to be like poor Elisabeth and they feel threatened when Ann is there because she makes sense and can tackle all these women and expose their ignorance.

It just isn’t possible to get a fair shake on that show. 4 v. 2 always, and the other ladies can shriek louder and get in stupid digs.

Steve Z on January 12, 2009 at 6:10 PM

I don’t buy that at all.

I’ve seen and read 100 times worse things stated about Conservatives, Christians, Republicans, Jews, President Bush, VP Cheney, Condoleeza Rice and any GOP or Conservative politician by the Left. And they don’t turn off the wishy-washy voters at all.

So I call BS on this claim. The Left simply controls the mass media and every information medium and tars and feathers the Right while allowing the Left to get away with everything. To use an analogy, the Right plays politics by the Geneva Conventions, while the Left plays politics with the rules of terrorists (ie, they have no rules).

If the Right is ever going to get back any relevance, it needs to break through the control the Left has on every information medium and break through the ridiculously unlevel playing field where when a GOP member says ‘Hello’… then it means the entire GOP and conservatives are racist, but when the majority of the Democrats are participating in breaking the law, undermining the war effort, being blatantly racist towards right-leaning Blacks, being a part of racist churches for 20 years, making one’s political career thanks to a domestic terrorist for years, etc… then it means nothing related to the Democrat Party at all. That needs to change.

And it’s not going to change if we sit here and play nice. President Bush played nice for 8 years and it got him nowhere. It is far past time to take the gloves off and stand up to the bullies of the Left. Ann has been leading the way for years, but people have refused to follow. To their own detriment.

I do love how any Republican,or on the right for that
matter, that goes on the Lefty Liberal talk shows only
to be hammered at every speaking second, while their co-
horts launch into a verbal tag-team operation, and do
not allow said Republican to speak!

Time and time again, its the same tune!

Forget the tag team brow beating for a moment, when
Charlie Gibson,aka,(Condesening Interogator) of Governor
Sarah Palin, the only outcome that Charlie wanted was to
make Sarahcuda into a babbling idiot from the sticks!

This dustup with Anne is typical of these Lefty shows,
and is exactly how the Liberals act and think!

They ask a question, you go to give an answer, and they’ve
already asked you two more questions and constantly inter
ject when your speaking!

Now add in,that “Their Guy Won”,and watch how these Libs
treat anyone on the right for the next four years!

And thats why Republicans must really think hard as to why
they should go on any Liberal talk shows just to give these
Liberals a’sound bite’!

One thing that Ronald Reagan did,was to by pass the Lefty
talkers, and go straight to the American people with his
address to tell the American people the truth, and deny
the liberals any chance at filtering Ronald Reagans message!

The funny thing is that with the passing of the Bush administration and the incoming Democratic Hegemony people like Joy Behar wont really have any high profile Conservatives in government to bash anymore (you can only vilify Sarah Palin so much before it gets boring). Meaning that the only real contribution she makes to the View (Daemonizing Conservatives) will no longer be such a high profile topic. Hopefully pushing her into the background and maybe even off the show all together.

She has, and will, make a very good living using the term “liberal” as a synonym for evil. She generates a knee jerk response from her followers. She is a very smart gal, understands group mentality, and uses decent arguments once she has exploited Pavlovian tactics to gain the spotlight in a debate. Her main goal appears to be personal enrichment. Nothing wrong with that,…I’ve long suspected Limbaugh could have accomplished the same success on the other side of the aisle, given the same audience susceptibility factors. It is all about salesmanship.

Barbara Walters has zero jounralistic integrity or acumen. Her interviews are vapid and her delivery is abysmal. She either has naked pictures of someone or just blew her way to the top.

Ann Coulter is the embodiment of courage — she has the courage to say publicly what most will not even say privately — and she does it with evidence on her side. The strategy of the left is to scream and cry so much about her “tone,” because they can’t dispute the truth she speaks. Thank God she does call Huckabee “stupid,” McClelland “retarded” and cleverly refers to John Edwards as a “faggot.” We’ve seen what “polite” (a.k.a. inconsequential, ineffective and virtually invisible) conservative voices have wrought us — a Democratic-controlled Congress, among other things.

Don’t stop Ann… Please. Don’t. Stop.

I unfortunately found out over Christmas that my cousin (who is like an older brother to me) is a ‘9/11 was an Inside Job’ Truther. Now, he didn’t get it from The View and Rosie, but he claims from friends/coworkers or military men back from Iraq who claim to know about government stuff and how the buildings were brought down by timed explosions (or whatever it is). And then of course he goes and sees LOTS of people in his course of work (works for the fire department and drives an ambulance) on a daily basis and of course, being in a position of authority, his views are respected and he probably talks to many people and convinces them.

So while I agree with Rush that it is important to expose the Left and have them talk more and say what they truly believe more, it is only helpful if someone is there to refute their nonsense and not let it become ingrained into the public’s mind as ‘truth’.

terryannonline on January 12, 2009 at 6:35 PM

If the Right is ever going to get back any relevance, it needs to break through the control the Left has on every information medium and break through the ridiculously unlevel playing field where when a GOP member says ‘Hello’…

Is Ann a ‘bomb-thrower’ and ‘rabble rouser’? Yeah. But then so was Samuel Adams. Right now, conservatives need a few rabble rousers to stir people up. Ironically, conservatives (really classical liberals) need to begin thinking of themselves as revolutionaries because now, it is us who are defying the Establishment. We need to draw our inspiration from such figures as Adams, Thomas Paine, John Wilkes, Patrick Henry, and others like them.

Matt Helm on January 12, 2009 at 6:35 PM

“You can dish it out, but you can’t take it!” Whoopie Goldberg, the View, to Anne Coulter.

What a completely out of context, low life attempt at a dig!

Coulter was quoting statistics that are culled from research and the liberal leftists on the View interpret her as attacking people and claim she does so without personal experience.

In other words, if you don’t live the life of a single mother, who are you to address the issue of higher crime rates among children raised by single mothers?

That is tantamount to the trick the abortion advocates, abortion choicers use in their attempt to muzzle pro-protection-of-innocent babies from abortion advocates, AKA Pro-Lifers, “If you don’t like abortion, don’t have one,” and “If you are a male, you will never be pregnant, you have no say in the matter, so shut up!”

The fact is, if you don’t like rape, torture, kidnapping, murder, etc., then don’t have one can be substituted for, “If you don’t like abortion, then don’t have one,” for they are all violent attacks against someone. So, don’t be raped, tortured, murdered, etc., and don’t get an abortion. Don’t rape, murder, or torture, and don’t do abortions.

So we are supposed to shut up and not oppose violent abuse of others? That’s what they are saying!

Regarding “Men will never become pregnant so they should shut up and not oppose abortion” is nonsense! We were ALL human embryos and human fetuses once, so we have all the qualifications required in order to oppose abortion. After all, abortion was targeted at US, but our mothers did not bite, and hence, we lived.

I for one am glad I lived, for I’ve had a rich, prosperous, fulfilling, wonderful life, and I met the most wonderful woman, the woman who loves me, who married me, who bore our children, who nursed all our children, and who I share the joy of love, life, and parenthood with, as we raise our four wonderful children together, and the happiness and joy that comes with that experience.

Coulter presented an important point to consider, the point raised in the segment on the View presented in that video clip, , related to single mother hood, that liberals-leftists are dismissive of. Many of the balls they got rolling, then whine about the results of their own agenda, as in the single motherhood scenario, one in which HOllywood, and the media, praise.

As Anne said, they don’t praise single fathers. Of course, Anne also pointed out the damage done by selfish single motherhood.

No, Whoopie took a cheap shot which means nothing but shows her obsessive membership in the leftist-Hollywood snob club, a group who twists everything into emotion and selfish self interest, and damned the facts.

Candidate Reagan had a LOT going for him. Like President Carter’s performance. I believe that the media could have sabotaged Mr. Reagan in this last election. The economy was too bad and The One is too magical.

Also, people like to put William F Buckley on a pedestal, but I believe he was considered akin to an Ann Coulter in his day. He would go after the Left and call them on their BS too. We need more of those you mention and William F. Buckley and less of this pussified version of the Right we have had the last 8 years.

Yes. Of course the Left wasn’t entirely braindead in Buckley’s day, just terribly misguided, so the conversations were more eloquent. Remember that Buckley’s first book had reviews that compared him to a klansman.

William2006 on January 12, 2009 at 6:35 PM

Of course they don’t. Because to feminazis like them, all men are evil and not necessary. If these women had their way, all men would be slaves who (1) worked for women bosses and (2) went to sperm banks once a month to donate so that every woman could get impregnated in vitro style and live in single motherhood bliss.

Michael in MI on January 12, 2009 at 6:43 PM

The nasty people of the Liberal-Left don’t attack only Anne Coulter, and justify it by claiming she is harsh, or claiming that she attacks people, I see Michelle Malkin attacked and demonized and hated throughout the Internet.

Of course I respond to their foul mouthed hate filled rants and receive their venomous mindless attacks as well. They have no morals, no scruples, just raw, rabid, foaming at the mouth hatred and idiocy, and maliciousness. That is the way they are, as can be clearly observed at almost any leftist-liberal web site and blog site, such as Kos Kids and Huffington Post, hatred abounds.

If ABC really wanted to make a fortune and have the best ratings of any show in history, they would dump Hasselbeck and hire Coulter as the token conservative. She would wipe the floor with them every day. And it would be entertaining as hell. I would DVR the show and watch it for the first time ever if they did that.

Yep, Hasselbeck is a total cutey, and the few times I see clips from this show and see the morons beating up on her, I feel sorry for her and want to defend her. Coulter doesn’t need any defending, she’s a buzzsaw.

sethstorm on January 12, 2009 at 6:48 PM

Hold on there, seth,

That is pure, unadulterated BS!

Where is your supportive evidence that shows that “conservatives” are the ones who threaten to move your job to some third world country?

Last time I looked, our nation had at least 50% liberal population, including those who are in positions in business in which they make those decisions to move your job to third world countries.

Anyway, the solution to that is to move to the third world country and get your job back over there, where they sent it. If you are so good at your job, and if it is needed over there, then you should have no problem beating out that third world person and getting your job back.

Of course, what you ARE calling for is government restrictions that prevent companies from doing business in a profitable manner, and banning hiring third world workers, which sounds about right for liberal-leftists who want to restrict so much, such as commerce, prosperity, thought, speech, and more, but who are fooled into thinking that Conservatives are the ones who restrict things.
