Bush did not vote for hussein, Schadenfreude.

These comments reveal a lot about the persons who made these comments. As well as you for defending them.

This man, along with a rupublican controlled congress, doubled the size of the federal government in a six year period, turned his back on enforcing our immigration laws, and in more than a few ways managed to out-liberal even Bill Clinton.

Agree with your analysis. My feeling for quite awhile has been that a lot of GOPers are relieved to be on offense instead of defense for a change.

This is exactly what the left was saying about Bush after the battle with Gore…Bush will never allow free elections again, Bush will create a terrorist act, then implement the National Guard and stop all elections.

Bush says these things because it is part of the [Republican] Presidential tradition to not demean the office.

I am inclined to agree with this – somehow the concept of statesmanship escapes most Democrats. While I might disagree with Pres Bush I find his willingness to not speak ill of the incoming Pres very honorable and what I would expect from a man who IMO has always tried to do what he thought was right.

You might not agree with his decisions but only a loon would/could attribute ill motives to him. That is what BDS does to people.

That pretty much sums up my entire problem with McCain for the last 8 years…and why I would rather have taken out my own eye with a grapefruit spoon than give that self serving pr*ck the nomination. Well said.

One, he’s a real a-hole.

Two, there’s some brouhaha about the fact that Bush didn’t call on that bruha, Helen Thomas. Unbelievable.

Why are so many here loyal to Bush but hate McCain? They’re the same person. And frankly Bush is more at fault for the Socialist-Elect than McCain. Not even any combination of Fred, Romney, and Palin would have won the election this year because of the damage to the Republican brand over the last 4 years.

Nobody here is “loyal” to Bush. Every last one of us has at a bare minimum, two major beefs with the man.

McCain, however, is a loser. McCain is loyal only to himself, and the attitude of himself and his staffers vis-a-vis Palin proves this conclusively. That’s why Bush beat him in the 2000 primaries, and that is why McCain couldn’t get elected now.

It is tolerable to be decent but wrong. It is intolerable to be wrong and a complete *%$hole.

Carter couldn’t get anything right while he was POTUS. Jimmy can’t even see to the correct process of building a low income house, beginning with the secure foundation. Compared to The Three Little Pigs, Carter’s economic disaster (1st Little Pig’s house of straw) and international kick-my-ass diplomacy (2nd Little Pig’s house of sticks) left Jimmy without competition to revise the story’s ending as he opened the door to our Constitutional government’s brick home, playing the squealing big, bad wannabe wolf howling in pigskin from the DNC pigsty. From this cauldron emerges Obama.

I have made the same point, though not as eloquently.
This conservative voted for Bush to avoid Gore and then Kerry. They would have been greater evils. I was not blind to what he meant by “compassionate conservatism”. But I trusted in the backbone of the Republican party to blunt the more liberal of his tendencies. Exactly why I thought the Republicans had a backbone I’ll never know.
I won’t make that mistake again. Evidence of integrity or no support for you.
