Anti-Israel protest in San Francisco entirely predictable

A new one from Zombie. The Nazi analogies no longer shock — they’ve been a staple of this cretinism for years — but I admit to an arched eyebrow and a grim smile at the anti-Obama agitprop near the end. It won’t change mainstream leftists’ minds about Israel, but seeing the Messiah demonized as a “fascist lackey” might give them enough pause at least to take some of the edge off the rhetoric.
Just across the wires as I write this is a report of Molotov cocktails being tossed at a synagogue in Paris. Read that, then read this weekend’s op-ed in the Guardian by a British Jew pronouncing herself “terrified” at the zeitgeist in Europe; a fair chunk of the comments responding to it had to be deleted by the paper’s moderators. She can go west or she can go east, but staying put seems less attractive by the day. Click the image to view.

This is quite scary. Now I don’t usually like to say things like that but when al-Guardian feels the need to delete comments at their website I can only imagine the hateful/gleeful death threats she got. When I see imagery like that it makes me feel that Israel’s place as a safe haven for Jews is more necessary than ever before.

Yep. I make this point to all the Jewish lefties I run into. Never let them get away without explaining themselves. We have a few lefties around for Shabbat dinner every so often, and they are forced to try to rationally defend their positions, which they are never able to do. They don’t change their minds, but they become aware that they have to be more careful to only spout their stupidity around equally stupid people. These people can eventually be embarrassed into changing their views, though it is a long, tough fight.

Oh come on look back over the comments over the last two weeks and there are plenty of comments advocating extermination of the Palestinians here. The extremes on both sides are as bad as each other. The problem is that one side has the extremists in control (Hamas) but you needn’t look further than the settler movement among the Israelis for the same extreme thinking. I am in despair over this. My SF and Berkeley family probably passed by this and similar demonstrations. There is NO WAY to reach them. They are lost to me, and to sanity. We are just going through the motions now in our communications. They will only survive if some outside force intervenes to save their lives, or by blind luck. I pray every day something terrible happens to them to wake them up before it’s too late. I wish one of them had gotten beaten senseless at this demonstration. It will take nothing less than that. My NY and FL family are the same. But hey, that’s life. Stupidity is a serious business.

I’m confused. Are you claiming that Hamas is under control? Their extremists regularly fire rockets into Israeli cities. They also fund suicide bombers that blow up malls and buses. And, just for good measure, they transmit children’s programming that encourages another generation of Palestinians to grow up and hate Israel because they killed “fake Mickey”.
The settlers in Israel are on the fringe of their society. The armed movement that they had was smashed, not by Palestinians, but by Israel.
Hamas was elected by a majority of the people in Palestine to be their representative government.

Most Bay Area Jews I’ve talked with about politics voted for McCain; these are people who voted for Clinton and Gore, but who really don’t want Israel to be destroyed just so we can have a Democratic President. The color that scares us about Obama isn’t black but green.

For years Hamas has been doing its best to make all the area bordering Gaza unliveable by killing and maiming random targets. That’s their goal – to wear Israel down. They have no desire for a 2-state solution.

Also, there were less than a million Jews in Germany before the war. Many did leave prior to ‘39, but went to other European countries where they met their deaths. The majority of jews killed were in Poland, and other parts of eastern Europe, where they probably didn’t have as much early warning as the German Jews.
Today, the French and Argentinian Jewish communities are moving to Israel. I suspect the next group will be England’s, although they may try to come here thinking it’s better. The media here is turning anti-Jewish. If the government follows suit, the Jews will leave here too. After that, there will essentially be no more Jews left outside of Israel, if there’s still an Israel.

One of the differences between the Left and the Right is that we on the Right police the movement. In theory there are right wing crazies, but we tend to marginalize them and drive them away.
For various reasons the Left intrinsically has problems doing that, and since their embrace of insanity after the 2002 election they haven’t even tried. One would hope that now that the Left holds power they would step back and take a good hard look at what they have become, but with the media *so* in the tank for them, I don’t think that will happen before something bad happens…

I was talking specifically about Germany’s Jews, though, and relatively few left in the short window of opportunity between the time Hitler came to power and the time the 2nd installment of the Nuremberg laws, which circumscribed their options more narrowly, came into effect. The perception, of course, was that the Nazis and their supporters didn’t really mean what they said.
How any Jew could make common cause with people spewing that same rhetoric today is just beyond me. I weep for our future.

Prior to the NAZIs, Germany was one of the least antisemitic countries in Europe. Of course, the presence of Jews in Imperial Germany’s power structure allowed Hitler an opening to blame the loss of WWI on them (as opposed to getting into a war with the French Empire, the British Empire, the Russian Empire, the US and most of the rest of the world’s powers).
So, viewed from our perspective it is easy to say that Europe’s Jews should have seen what was coming, but considering Germany’s history until that point I can see why they did not.
One could argue that the American Left is similarly so blinded by our country’s history of peaceful transitions of power to believe that they could install a semi-despot to bring transformational “change” and get utopia, but that would ignore a more depressing point. Most leftists are what they are because of their willful historical ignorance. They don’t know who Hitler was or what he did besides the fact that he was evil and he started WWII.

What I am wondering what kind of liberation does the PLO offer? I bet you anything that Israel provides more freedom then anything the PLO does or any other islamic nation. Look at Saudi Arabia or Iran for an example on their liberations. The gays better watch their step protesting Israel, next the Muslims would be targeting gays after they finish off the Jews.

The only problem is that as the Jews leave countries like England more and more Muslims take their place (They don’t call it Londonistan for nothing you know). But the problem is that unlike the Jews who settled in places like England after the second world war and were forced to integrate into English society in order to fit in, no such demands have been placed on the current wave of Muslim migrants and it has resulted in the sharp rise in ethnic violence, religious intolerance, racism, bigotry and Islamic fascism being witnessed in England today.

My first instinct is to pay no mind to these two-bit tyrants in Che garb and Arafat terror tourniquets who haven’t the stones to actually do anything but flap their gums. Then again, from the ranks of scum like this came the likes of William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, so let us be vigilant.

Quite right…my cousins still live in London and too ill to come to the US..he has tried. I suggested this week he try political assylum due to all the violence against Jews there lately…
But the US is doing the same thing, we are in the earlier stages..like printing driver’s tests in 11 languages,etc. But I don’t think we are learning any lessons from the UK.
