Huckabee to Coulter: Why’d you call me stupid?

Again and again and again she hammered him during the primaries, and again and again he repays her here by putting her on the spot. “There’s an ugly yet fascinating dynamic brewing between these two,” I wrote in one of those old posts about the identity politics dance they were doing at the time. Watch this tango between two of the most famously nasty-yet-charming Republicans in America and tell me I was wrong.
Here’s the column in which she accused him of being pro-sodomy. Exit quotation: “Liberals adore Huckabee because he fits their image of what an evangelical should be: stupid and easily led.”

First I’ll lean toward Ann simply because, as a right-wing Christian, I feel that we need our elected reps to be totally separated from the pulpit. This is politics, BTW. Just my opinion.
Now I’ll watch the video.
perroviejo on January 11, 2009 at 1:54 PM
“Do you think I’m stupid?” Umm, if you have to have her on your show, and ask her under the pressure of the cameras-
Yeah, apparently.
cs89 on January 11, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Huckabee defends himself pretty good here, but I still think Ann was on solid ground. Besides, was she really calling him stupid herself, or was she saying that the liberals think he’s stupid? I thought it was the latter. She doesn’t make that point herself, but she seemed a little flustered.
Kensington on January 11, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Huck’s a nice guy, but he’s a nanny stater who wants government to lead our lives for us. I get enough of that cr#p from the left. I don’t need any of it on the right. And it is a totally unconstitutional view of America.

Poor Huckabee still trying to say he’s always been rock solid conservative.

Kind of on the awkward side,(nail on half a chalkboard)..They both played fair. I think Ann played a little too fair, but hey, she’s promoting a book, BTW, an AWESOME book..: o )

BobMbx on January 11, 2009 at 2:04 PM
Well, Ann is still our best fullback. That was kinda awkward, though. Huckabee wanted to straighten Ann out (she knew that was coming) while allowing her on to peddle her book. However, hopefully Huckabee stays out of politics. We can do better.

Huckabee has whatever was in the water in Hope, Arkansas, that makes him a natural crowd-pleaser, but his skin is too thin for politics. Politics should be like foreign policy–permanent interests, but no permanent friends, no permanent enemies. Depends entirely on if they’re helping you or hurting you today. If a politician takes the brickbats too seriously, that’s a sign that they take praise and adulation too seriously too, and that’s bad.

Huckabee belongs to the wing of the GOP that needs to be neutralized as much as possible in the coming years. Ignorant, close minded theocrats have no place in the future conservative movement.

I think the reason that Huckabee has his own show, even on FOX, is to keep the RINO Republican wing alive……

If he has had Gov. Sarah Palin on his show………..

HUCK is not only stupid–He’s a crook:
Just before leaving office as governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee spent $500,000 of state emergency funds to destroy hard drives used by his administration. Why hasn’t the media raised a red flag over this obvious scandal?
It seems every week, another Mike Huckabee scandal leaks out. First there was his “Open Borders” policy as governor of Arkansas and the HUGE last minute flip-flop, he performed, to appear “tough on illegals” just before the primary elections. Then there was the Wayne DuMond scandal, in which Huckabee pressured parole board members to release a convicted rapist, Wayne DuMond. Huckabee has denied pressuring the parole board, but members of that board have contradicted Huckabee’s claims. Also, there’s a letter from Huckabee to DuMond stating that Huckabee wanted DuMond out of prison. DuMond raped and killed two women after being released from prison.

Why is it a scandal? If you are getting rid of the computer, which businesses and government routinely do, it is safer to destroy the harddrive because it is the only way to prevent others from accessing the information that they have no right to access under law.

Buckaroo on January 11, 2009 at 2:32 PM
Yep. Huckabee falls into that category of evangelicals who believe that government can fulfill the role of pastor — hence, his nanny state crap and his failure to be a fiscal conservative.
I do fear very much for the future of our party and of conservative ideals. We’ve strayed so far from those ideals that I don’t know if we can ever get back. I think it’s all but certain that we’re going to get card check next year, we’re going to get socialist healthcare, probably will see our banks and retirement accounts nationalized… Then there’s no turning back. And Mike Huckabee can take a lot of credit for spoiling Romney, Giuliani, and Thompson’s chances by diverting votes from them, thus allowing Juan McShamnesty to be made our nominee.

Huck-a-bigot what a jerk off. Just this week he was in the Salt Lake Deseret News falling all over himself claiming that he has nothing against Mormons it was just Romney that he had a prob with. Its funny that he repeatedly went after Romney’s faith in the primaries. Perhaps he thought that it was Romney and Satan that were brothers.

I like Huck’s tax ideas. The problem, of course, is that if we institute a consumption tax, we will just end up with both a consumption and an income tax. It’s a good idea, but a non-starter because of this. It could only be implemented with an accompanying Constitutional amendment declaring income taxes off limits to the feds. And, even then, we have huge problems with the states then diving into the income pool to draw more funds. The only thing that stops them now is that the feds are drawing from the same pool.

The U.S. didn’t wake up 8 years ago with a bad case of the religions. It’s had religion since it’s birth, pull out a dollar and see what it says, but people like you expect us to believe that suddenly we’re headed for a theocracy. The religious right never had and never will have any intention of establishing a theocracy. They are too afraid their flavor of Christianity would loose the popularity contest and they would be persecuted to ever support a theocracy.
