Milt obviously didn’t read this. The big issue was not a quid pro quo for the seat, but that the quid pro quo was designed to benefit the Governor, not the People of the State of Illinois.

Doesn’t something have to be proven before he’s canned?

Of what crime has he been convicted?

Yes, something has to be proven before the Illinois Senate will convict. However, the evidence provided to the House was enough for all but two members to vote to impeach.

The trial will not occur in the House, but in the Senate.

Blogo will indeed have his day in court.

Prediction 1. The IL senate will overwhelmingly convict Blago and enter a “judgment” of removal from office. Impeachment game over?

Prediction 2. Ed Genson files an action, with motion for injunction and TRO in IL circuit court. Theory: IL Constitution’s impeachment provision is not self-executing, in that it establishes no rational scope of impeachable offenses, and therefore requires enabling legislation for its implementation. Which legislation the General Assembly has failed to enact, and cannot now enact retroactively.

Blago has provided thus far such valuable entertainment. Why the man has intrinsic value: he’s got the goods on all the other Chicago pols, including Obama. And with the casual expletives so easily flung, he might make for some rather juuuuuicy volleying for Illinois and the rest of the US the next few years. Blago needs to stay awhile longer.
