Video: The Coulter-Lauer fight this morning

Ann Coulter returned to the Today show to talk about her new book, but only after Matt Lauer insisted on trying to blame Coulter for the controversy arising from Today’s cancellation of Coulter earlier in the week. She got her slot on this morning’s show after Drudge red-sirened a report from sources at NBC that Coulter had been banned for life, which NBC eventually denied and had to prove false by bringing Coulter back as soon as possible. Coulter rips NBC and Lauer for blaming her for the controversy:

It actually never lets up, and it actually gets even more delicious when Lauer challenges Coulter on the lessons of the election. Lauer asks Coulter if she didn’t get the sense that people want to focus on the issues rather than what divides us — as if the issues and the potential solutions aren’t what divide us. Coulter rips the media in return, noting that Obama rarely got challenged on issues, instead getting softball questions on his feelings while “Sarah Palin had to memorize the last seven kings of Swaziland”. Obama certainly never had to explain the Bush Doctrine on national television.

Coulter’s new book, Guilty: Liberal “Victims” and Their Assault on America, is now out in bookstores and on Amazon. I just got a copy yesterday, and I’ll be perusing it — and maybe we’ll see if Ann Coulter would like to talk more about the book than NBC’s vacillation on featuring her on a TEMS show soon.

I’ll be here all week!

It’s always a good thing when you’re in the parlor.

I just watched this video – heh, what entertainment, steel versus feather fluff.

Entelechy on January 8, 2009 at 1:20 AM

What Lauer, and all other liberals, mean when they say that is “if you’ll just do what we want, we’ll quit whining”.

clearbluesky on January 7, 2009 at 5:11 PM

This from a MSM that was not just divisive but also vicious, vulgar, nasty, intolerant, dishonest etc…

Coulter is calling them out on how they treted Obama vs how they treated Palin and they don’t wnat to hear it much like someone who gets drunk at a party and then doesn’t want to hear how they “did” someone in front of everyone…

I love Ann!

ErinF on January 8, 2009 at 1:51 AM

Esteban Matt Lauer: Is your blade as sharp as your tongue?

Zorro Ann Coulter: Is yours as dull as your wit?

but they feel the same way towards Putin and we don’t need a President Putin.

Buddahpundit on January 7, 2009 at 8:52 PM

Surely your not comparing Bush to Putin, when Hitler and Stalin is available?

Johan Klaus on January 8, 2009 at 2:02 AM

Wow!!!
The only time you can get the liberals in the media to be aggressive and dig into somebody is when they are a conservative.
I remember the Bill Ayers interview just a few weeks ago and they treated him like a innocent teacher that was smeared by the evil “right wingers”.The guy is a marxist domestic terrorist responsible for over 20 bombings in America. His group kills police officers and he is committed to overthrowing the US government and Laurer decides it’s Coulter that deserves to be grilled.

These liberal activists in the media deserve to be smacked around like Coulter did to Matt.I would have loved to have seen just one story during the past 8 years of bigotry and hate from the left condemning liberals and their activists groups for “dividing” the nation.

Right back at ya, love. Did you see Baxter’s reality check, above? Money.

Baxter, when you watched the libs handle Ayers on television, did you find yourself looking around to make sure it was the same universe as before? It’s simply disorienting, how dreadful our news media is.

I watched it with the same disgust that I felt watching the Carter’s,Kerry’s,Reids and hollywood’s finest get the perpetual tongue bath that they usually receive from their liberal friends in the press.
The Reid interview on Meet the Press is a prime example of how the liberal activists that call themselves journalist protect “their” leadership and let them get away with incredible spin and ignorance.
To let Reid take credit for the turnaround in Iraq when he yelled and screamed for surrender, announced we had lost on the Senate floor, and did everything he could to stop the surge(hundreds of quotes from him on these ignorant positions)was just the height of liberal propaganda.
The media did the same thing with the lead up to war by ignoring the more than 10 years of yelling for Saddam’s downfall due to his WMD’s/Al-qaeda connections and subversion of the UN resolutions.
When it became a political tool for democrats to gain power by undercutting our mission in Iraq, the liberals in the media were more than ready to help with the “Bush lied”theme and democrat after democrat getting a microphone to help them rewrite history.

Lauer seems to be oblivious to the fact that just about every study(many by liberal institutions)and poll that showed the media in the tank for Obama and democrats in general.

Anybody with a remote sense of objectivity and common sense
could see that when you put an interview of Obama(or democratic leadership in general)side by side with Palin or Bush, the differences in tone, type of questions, and follow ups are miles apart.
The liberal activists in the media’s goal is to tear down or embarrass the conservative while gushing and patting on the back the liberal.

The MSM is nothing more than Pravda West.

Baxter Greene on January 8, 2009 at 3:25 AM

God! Lauer is such a piece of crap. Every time he opens his mouth I feel bile in mine.

conservnut on January 8, 2009 at 6:59 AM

Maybe you should call Vince McMahon for a job….

AprilOrit on January 7, 2009 at 6:43 PM

It just so happens, I am a couple of minutes from WWE HQ in Stamford. But no way in hell would I work for McMahon!

Matt is an alumni of the Thunder Dan Rather “I am the moderate middle” School of Journalism…..

when your ideological benchmarks are Lenin, Trotsky, and Goebbels you may have a point using contemporary US politics…not so much.

DannoJyd-I’m offended at the song, the article is making a point about Whites liberals. But like I said I don’t care about the song, just a bunch of people pretending Ann Coulter is worse than them when they go to extraordinary lengths to irritate Black folk.

Rob Taylor on January 7, 2009 at 5:46 PM

Ok. So you are offended by the song parody of what I see as a stab at the typical hypocricy that liberalism presnets, but you don’t really care?

I love reading the whinings of people concerning Ann. I find many of them to be the same folks who whine that republicans don’t speak up enough.

BTW, I’m certain I’ve irritated quite a few black people when I make the obvious comments concerning their foolishness when they vote for any democrat. I just don’t see that the Democrat Party has done a thing over the years to assist people of color, but they sure don’t mind playing politics with black issues. Typical symbolism over substance.

I am disgusted to see so many people willing to be tools. That really makes it hard for me to be sympathetic to the plight of blacks in America when much of that is of their own making.

As for Ann, she hits the nail right on the head of every issue every time. That is why democrats hate her.

DannoJyd on January 8, 2009 at 8:34 AM

Ann kicked O’Reilly’s ass last night, too.

jay12 on January 8, 2009 at 11:09 AM

Johan Klaus on January 8, 2009 at 2:02 AM

Point is that the US Democrat is the only variety of Marxist whose vast majority of members hate their own nation. If a willingness to defend one’s nation makes one a conservative or a Republican, then yes, those other names you mention would qualify.

The Democrats could make the same argument in reverse if Ron Paul switches parties and is elected president. They just won’t have any historic examples from surviving nations to help them make the point.

Buddahpundit on January 8, 2009 at 11:47 AM

Coulter on O’Reilly last night was quite a turn off.
-
Selling her books seems to be a life or death situation.
-
She was rather shrill and combative.
-
“I sell more books than you do Bill”
-
Any and all charm has been used up.
-
Out to make that last million, then leave for
Switzerland before it all goes to heck?

esblowfeld on January 8, 2009 at 12:04 PM

I see so many of the younger people here posting lefty swill because they haven’t had a chance to out grow their ‘education.’

snaggletoothie on January 7, 2009 at 6:37 PM

Problem is, they’re programmed to respond by rote. Critical analysis, critical thought, individuality, and logical argumentation are very dangerous to the Leftist world view. Remember, you’re really dealing with a group that comes closest to the Puritans or to the Crusaders in ideological zeal and commitment and also in how they perceive the world. If you oppose them, you’re automatically evil and must be silenced for the good of the all. You can also see this in the Leftist assertions based on Authority as seen in the marginalization of anyone questioning the dogma of global warming or questioning the agenda of The One. This is essentially a return to the medieval outlook of the Scholastics in the 14th century.

Modern liberalism is the obscurantist movement of the 21st century and it, along with fundamentalist Islam, has the potential of leading us into a new and much longer Dark Ages.

Matt Helm on January 7, 2009 at 7:28 PM

Major points for understanding the liberal mind. Of course, it’s hard to do critical thinking when you’ve been so programmed to avoid “unacceptable” thoughts. And that’s pretty much what Harry Smith and Mat Lauer and others mean when they criticize her for being “outrageous.” When they trot out a “victim” like Cindy Sheehan or those women who took advantage of being widows on 9/11 to score political points against Bush over and over again, then those on the right are supposed to be unable to criticize them because of who they are.

And Ann just ignores the taboos on politically incorrect thoughts and makes her points anyway. They can’t help but be offended.

Really, how can you possibly think through any issue when only certain thoughts are allowed?

tom on January 8, 2009 at 1:40 PM

esblowfeld on January 8, 2009 at 12:04 PM

The reason Miss Coulter went on O’Reilly’s show was to promote her book and she probably does sell more books than him.

Johan Klaus on January 8, 2009 at 2:59 PM

i bought guilty at the columbia university bookstore tonight. the cashier was not amused. i really appreciate being judged by undergraduate liberals, they’re such nice people and everything.

Exactly, Danno!

To paraphrase Jack, “They can’t handle the truth!”

Sterling Holobyte on January 8, 2009 at 7:45 PM

Democrats hate Coulter because she tells the truth and Republicans hate her because she says what most Republicans don’t have the guts to say and wish they did.

I admire Ann Coulter because, basically, she reminds me of me.
