Ed, I assume you will ask Jim if this whole Burris protest by Reid was a sham from the get. That is what I think. Perhaps Reid was incompetent from the start (entirely possible) but it must have dawned on him that barring Burris indefinitely only risks embarassment for the Dems and possibly a special election. Personally, I think Blago was signaled to go appoint Burris. Blago could have really stirred things up by appointing Jeremiah Wright or Bill Ayers. Now that would have been special. Or how about Oprah? I guess Blago could not have appointed Princess Caroline or the back half of Caligula's horse, Al Franken, on residency grounds but hey he does not have to, they are getting in anyway. Capt.
