Today, on the Ed Morrissey Show (3 pm ET), Jim Geraghty of Campaign Spot returns from a two-week hiatus to bring us up to date on politics. Has an anonymous campaign to discredit Ken Blackwell arisen, and what are they saying about the RNC chair candidate? Jazz Shaw appears in the second half to update us on the pending Senate appointment in New York. Has New York gone sour on Sweet Caroline? We’ll also talk about the latest in Minnesota between Norm Coleman and Al Franken.
We’re also holding a fundraising drive for Twin Cities Marriage Encounter. I’ll be posting PayPal buttons for one-time and automatic monthly donations to this non-profit, which tries to build stronger communities by strengthening marriages, on my show posts until the end of the year. We now have a matching challenge!. If we can raise $1500 by January 15th, an anonymous Hot Air reader will match those funds himself. Donations are tax deductible! Please note The Ed Morrissey Show or Hot Air on the memo line so that we can keep track for the match challenge:
Now you can join the conversation in the chat room! Be sure to register at Ustream to participate in our raucous live-chat sessions. (And if the log-in prompt doesn’t come up in the chat box below, use this link instead.) Jazz Shaw of The Moderate Voice moderates the chat, and he has his Troll Gun Trivia Contest running before the show, for those who get there early — and are registered!

Capt. Ed, I assume you will ask Jim if this whole Burris protest by Reid was a sham from the get. That is what I think. Perhaps Reid was incompetent from the start (entirely possible) but it must have dawned on him that barring Burris indefinitely only risks embarassment for the Dems and possibly a special election.
Personally, I think Blago was signaled to go appoint Burris.
Blago could have really stirred things up by appointing Jeremiah Wright or Bill Ayers. Now that would have been special. Or how about Oprah? I guess Blago could not have appointed Princess Caroline or the back half of Caligula’s horse, Al Franken, on residency grounds but hey he does not have to, they are getting in anyway.
