Video: I’m not closing the door on 2012, says Palin

Ten minutes with the Canadian answer to Carson Daly for your edification on a slow news night. Nothing too provocative, although there’s an enjoyably tense moment around 10:30 when she’s asked if she ever thought her critics were right about her being unqualified.

In any case, I need an excuse to update the poll post from this morning and this’ll do. An eagle-eyed reader checked Newsmeat, which I should have done, and found out that the polling firm involved has a history of donating to — ta da — Frank and Lisa Murkowski. So if you’re wondering how reliable the data is, weigh that accordingly.

You have not countered a single thing I have posted. Adding talking points to the resume does not change the resume.

Poptech on January 7, 2009 at 1:45 AM

What are smoking?

Being a Mayor and a Gav isn’t part of a resume? You are actually dumber then i thought.

Move on troll!

upinak on January 7, 2009 at 1:53 AM

BTW, does the fact that I am actually Jewish add to you silly attempt to pigeonhole me?

Squid Shark on January 7, 2009 at 1:51 AM

It’s late, and I’ve answered your stupid f***ing points, as have others here. In fact, it’s hard to even know what your point is.

Now I’m just enjoying a good laugh. If you had half a sense of humor you would have listened to the Jerky Boys clip I linked to and laughed with me about it. But you’re looking more and more like a humorless tight a$$. Relax. Have a little fun. I never trust anyone who can’t laugh a little.

ramrocks on January 7, 2009 at 1:49 AM

Since you have missed my point by a mile and I do have work tomorrow, I am going to hang it up for the night.

I guess, I will need to bone up on my Jerky Boys, I stopped listening to them when I was 15.

Squid Shark on January 7, 2009 at 1:54 AM

ROTFLMAO!

I had no idea what your ethnic background was, but now I’m crying laughing because it’s increasingly clear that you are that character from the Jerky Boys!

Lest you cry racism, let me add that I’m Semitic myself.

ramrocks on January 7, 2009 at 1:55 AM

So I am supposed to laugh at being called a “sissy”? I am supposed to think that is just great?

I have a pretty good sense of Humor, I also think Alaskans are bats**t crazy for the most part. Therefore I dont think your argument was valid that just because some popular alaskan guv was supported by the AIP, it somehow made legitimizing their party with a message from the sitting governor something that was acceptable. I dont know why you think that everyone should just accept that here in the lower 48.

You’ve attacked this woman from the moment she was named to the ticket. I read the thread that day in August. I know.

What is your problem? Were you crushed that your pet candidate wasn’t chosen for vp instead?

It never mattered what Palin did or said, and it doesn’t matter what arguments we marshall to counter your accusations. You will hate her no matter what.

I find that sad.

I researched her and found out she was unqualified and McCain only picked her because she was a woman. I don’t hate her but think she is unqualified, inexperienced and wrong on important issues.

Calling me a troll and insane doesn’t counter anything. You guys don’t have any arguments, just insults and bully tactics. Yes I do find that sad.

And guess what I was right, Obama won.

Adding talking points to the resume does not change the resume.

The funny thing is, you keep posting her resume as if it’s some sort of negative, when it actually matches up fine with McCain’s, Obama’s, and Biden’s. What I’m trying to figure out is why a sweet resume filled with experience and advanced degrees is only necessary if you’re Sarah Palin….if you’re not….eh, it’s just not that big a deal?

Frankly, I hope we come up with a better candidate in 2012, because Sarah’s damaged now, like it or not, but I’ll never understand the level of PDS exhibited by some.

xblade on January 7, 2009 at 3:07 AM

xblade on January 7, 2009 at 3:07 AM

If we continue to allow the left to destroy our talented candidates, then we’ll be stuck with loser legacy candidates like the Bush family. We could have had George Allen for a candidate this year. But he was destroyed by a stupid monkey joke.

And now you want us to abandon Palin because of Tina Fey. I say, “BULLSH*T!”

Sarah is so damaged that she invokes another 500 comment thread. Please get real. Sarah is the real deal. She maintains and retains her popularity. Really? Quote the post date and time. This is so sad. If you guys cannot even follow a simple conversation no wonder you cannot research candidates.

Poptech on January 7, 2009 at 6:32 AM

Squid, the Palin fanatics don’t want to accept this – I had defections all over my family because of her, friends jumped ship left and right. Once McCain voted for the Bailout, Palin’s daughter was pregnant and she bombed in interviews there was no way I could vote for her. But these maniacs want to really believe it was McCain who lost the election. I cannot tell you how many said they could vote for McCain but not her.

Poptech on January 6, 2009 at 11:38 PM

He noted it but you ignored so let me show you what you posted.

Cindy Munford on January 7, 2009 at 6:40 AM

Actually he posted something previously posted by squid shark saying his life long Rep. father couldn’t vote for McCain because of Gov. Palin. Get this, because of Bristol’s pregnancy. At the risk of hurting squid shark’s feelings I think it is far to say that his father’s beliefs don’t reflect the majority of folks in the country today. Most of us don’t condemn a person by the mistakes made by their offspring. There are people who didn’t vote for her because of her accent. And guess what, there are folks who didn’t vote for Mr. Obama because of his skin color. There are people we shouldn’t emulate.

Cindy Munford on January 7, 2009 at 6:52 AM

Rep. father couldn’t vote for McCain because of Gov. Palin. Get this, because of Bristol’s pregnancy.

Reading is fundamental, Cindy, I never said any such thing. My father is a good and smart man and would never not vote for someone over something as stupid as her daughter being pregnant. He disliked Palin for the same reasons I do.

You are absolutely confused. Squid said that about his father, NOT me.

I dont think that there is proof either way. I know that my dad, who I have never seen vote for a Dem in his life voted for Obama because of her, and he is not the only one.

Squid Shark on January 6, 2009 at 11:27 PM

This is sad, you even quote my post and it has nothing to do with what Squid said, LMAO!

This is really getting embarrassing you people cannot even keep the conversation straight.

Poptech on January 7, 2009 at 6:57 AM

And furthermore, Cindy, there are alot of people who dislike her politically for a variety of reasons, It does not take away from her personal appeal. I respect her for her keeeping Trig, I respect her hard working life, I respect her sons service. That in no way means I would vote for her for president.

Squid Shark on January 7, 2009 at 6:58 AM

Ken Blackwell for RNC Head with Palin for President & Jindal Vice President in 2012. America faces DESTRUCTION at the hands of the MARXIST 3 stooges, Obama, Reid & Pelosi with the time left to save it limited to 2010 MidTerms followed by the 2012 General. 8 years of the 3 Stooges & a Soviet Amerika will be a reality shortly followed by an Islamic Republic America.

Max47 on January 7, 2009 at 7:55 AM

Whether or not she would prefer it, I don’t see that Palin would insist on heading the POTUS ticket 2012, though by then she’d be better skilled and armed to counter neo-liberal critics and daunting enemies alike.

Noting the disappointing “experienced” McCain efforts to destroy American conservatism, to argue against Palin is to further the McCain plague. Johnny lacks loyalty. Get past him. To her credit, Palin has. Those who continue to malign Palin are the asshats that promote disappointment for a living.

Even now, Palin and Jindal make a most intriguing team for independent conservatives to rally ’round.

in 4yrs, she’ll likely still be hot, 48yrs old with a 4yr old grandson. The Cougar jokes in the media will be relentless, she will still be a gravitational force of curiosity.

that said, Obama is going to screw up so bad on Foreign Policy the idea of the Republicans electing a woman with little foreign policy cred is a stretch. Somehow she has to overcome that obstacle.

But surely you must be Lib, a Democrat spy, a Troll or working for the Daily Kos? How can you not support the right-wing messiah?

Poptech on January 6, 2009 at 11:54 PM

Yes. I think that you are a Axelrod troll because you keep bringing up the same ridiculous claims.. the pregnant daughter, the church thing, the beauty paegent, the five colleges as well as spam posting Romney’s resume on every single Palin thread. I’m surprised you haven’t posted about the book banning and rape kits yet. If you come up with anything original, by all means please post it.

Frankly, your comments really distract from an adult discussion of the 2012 elections and any valid criticisms of Palin. I think that Palin was probably wrong to accept McCain’s offer as VP, think that unless Obama manages to sink the economy that she should wait until 2016 to run, and do think that she needs to brush up on foreign policy and come up with a valid pro-family agenda concerning education, health care, taxes, the economy, etc. However, I also admire Sarah immensely as a women and appreciate her mad skillz as a politician. I think that her ability to rise from humble blue collar beginnings and become a governor and major player in U.S. politics is something that could only happen in America and is why I love the U.S. I’d much prefer a 100 SPs to a EU aristocracy made up of Mittens and Kennedys.

he was 100% correct on economic interviews … he made everybody on the stage look like fools

he still lost

Let me state the obvious: Mitt is a Mormon. He may have been the brightest and best qualified of the lot, but the GOP is just not ready for a presidential candidate who is Mormon, Muslim, Jewish, atheist or gay.

They have a crap load of wrong information on Sarah. Pop is just using the power of the internet MSM BS to prove what he thinks is valid. And won’t listen to those who actually live in Alaska and have seen what is going on.

But, don’t take my word for it. Hell someone accused me of being Sarah Palin..

/SNORT!

If Sarah doesn’t run for Prez in 2012, I am personally going to haul my ass to Alaska and spank her on the steps of the Governors mansion.

LimeyGeek on January 7, 2009 at 10:18 AM

Hey, dude, watch out with that kinky S&M talk. I was chastised here yesterday for making a racy comment about Gov. Palin. Some called me sexist and misogynist, even suggesting that I should be banned. You could end up like me if you are not careful :-)

I don’t like Mittens because I find his personality off-putting and creepy, the same reason why I don’t like CHuckles. It has nothing to do with him being a Mormon. I think that someone like Jon Huntsman would be an interesting Pres. or VP candidate (perhaps to add some foreign policy expertise to a Jindal or Palin ticket).

Yeah, and he never got the GOP nomination. Plus they shot him.

Seriously, though. Go back to the archives from a year ago and look at all those polls. Look at all the comments saying things like “religious freedom is a fine idea, but Romney’s beliefs are so delusional that he can’t possibly be President.”

factoid on January 7, 2009 at 11:54 AM

Okay, what happened to the REAL AP?? This fake AP put up a decent photo of Gov Palin. The REAL AP only uses mud-ugly photos of the Gov to stroke his distain for her. So again, where is the real AP and who is this impostor?
(But by me, if the impostor can stick around, that’d be fine.)

Brian Paasch on January 7, 2009 at 11:55 AM

I cannot tell you how many said they could vote for McCain but not her.

McCain the Geezer had electile dysfunction.
He got a prescription for some ViagSarah.
But America said, not now, I have a head wallet-ache.

Fact. Look, Alaska didn’t have who I wanted in my Primaries. I wanted Fred!. But they didn’t even have him on the ballot. So I CHOOSE Romney. I don’t care if he is Mormon, it is what his religon is… not my problem, or issue. He WAS the lesser of all evils. Don’t give me the “You don’t like Romney because of this” crap.

That is why it ticks me off to no end. All of these people ran for president, it split us ALL… conservative to Rhino to Libertarian.. etc. Yet.. it split us in different way since not EVERYONE was on the Ballots. Which honestly should have been illegal to begin with as it is a Federal Election… not a State.

But that IMO. I wonder what would have happened if ALL the people were on the ballots….. who would have been chosen then.

upinak on January 7, 2009 at 11:58 AM

+2000

There are valid reasons to not want Palin if you are on the right but all the crap Poptech spewed where silly nonsense.

For example he points out that she raised taxes on the oil companies so that most mean she is not libertarian. WTF???
She raised there taxes because these companies had been running in cahoots with the previous Governors to cheat the state. They were buying political favors and destroying the political process. You obviously don’t understand the dynamics between Alaska’s’ natural resources, its citizens (who actually own it which is actually different from other states) and the oil companies who have dominated the states politics for years on end before she started cleaning house.

If you don’t want Palin then fine. No problem. I admire and respect peoplee who will vote for those they thing best represent their principals. No need to denigrate her to make your self and your ego feel better.

Worse yet is to pretend to be shock that others find your behavior silly.

Look I like and admire Palin. But I got issues with Palin and think she needs to get more aggressive the issues and the things she lacks knowledge with. Do as Reagan (for example) did, and become an expert in the things people say you don’t know anything about. It’s not that hard, it’s politics.

But it is down right stupid to throw away a politician of Palin’s caliber.

Team Sarah seems ok. I am in it but I don’t participate like those who are in it. I am in Alaska, not like I can’t get any closer to the real thing.. right?

Also, it is concerning me that people ARE making her to be like a Messiah in many aspects. I have asked for people not to do that, but I am tired of the constant snide remarks, the over looked items she has done and the BS and lies coming out. One of the reasons I don’t have a problem defending her.

She isn’t perfect. But who is?

upinak on January 7, 2009 at 12:21 PM

Thanks. I’m sure she’ll do things I’ll wonder about over the next few years. At this point, she is the brightest star in the GOP and is taking some unfair hits.

She seems to be the real deal from down here in the lower 48. If there’s a better Conservative alternative that emerges over the next couple of years, fine. I agree with what I think you’re saying about the sniping at her that’s going on.

Let her rise or fall on her own. Don’t try to cut her off at the knees over petty junk or lies.

Anyway, stay warm!

cs89 on January 7, 2009 at 12:26 PM

Let me illustrate the strategy that MSM, the nutroots, Huffington Post and of course Obama and his merry men and women are using to destroy Sarah. It can be described with the acronym PASS:

1)PRESUMPTUOUS BEHAVIOR AND CONDUCT:
a)being disrespectful or inconsiderate in a malicious way
b)feigning excessive familiarity (pundits) or taking liberties in an arrogant or overconfident manner when NOT entitled or qualified to do so
c)ascribing to someone qualities or ideas that distort or misrepresent one’s record so as to exploit someone or take advantage of someone unscrupulously

2)ABSURDITY AND AD HOMINEM ATTACKS:
a)belief that people’s lives have no purpose of meaning
b)inviting ridicule
c)being irrational, incongruous, or irrational

3)SPECIOUS SUGGESTION AND REASONING:
a)appearing to be true or genuine but actually false
b)using pretense to make something superficially attractive or deceptively pleasing but actually of no real interest or value

4) STRAW MAN
a)presenting a misrepresentation of the opponent’s position and then refuting it, thus giving the appearance that the opponent’s actual position has been refuted
b)quoting an opponent’s words out of context-choosing quotations that are not representative of the opponent’s actual intentions
c) presenting someone who defends a position poorly as the defender and then refuting that person’s arguments, thus giving the appearance that every upholder of that position, and thus the position itself, has been defeated
d) inventing a fictitious persona with actions or beliefs that are criticized, such that the person represents a group of whom the speaker is critical
e) oversimplifying an opponent’s argument, then attacking the simplied version

Now I, as a simple peasant, know this and want to humbly inform the thousands that read this blog the this obsession to destroy Sarah is completely orchestrated by sinister forces that work on Obama’s behalf 24/7 and will continue to do so as long as Obama is President. Make no mistake-these forces will attack Sarah from all points of the compass, draw upon all the liberal elite pundits to legitimize the effort and propaganda, and staggering their attacks so they are the most effective and damaging to Sarah. And remember the best strategy is to attack at one’s most vulnerable point and that point currently is the Johnston family and Bristol. But it will not always be so. Be prepared for attacks on Sarah’s political record and performance eventually.

You mean this email that was sent out to all on Team Sarah?

Team,

Happy New Year and let’s bring you up to date.

We caught red-handed a conspiracy at an awful site plotting to use dirty tricks to undermine Team Sarah. Their main tactic is to join and then to plant racist, scandalous, and other horrid content, or to tempt innocent members into doing so. Devilish! And then, we suspect, they plan to take their postings to a liberal blogger as “evidence.”

In a word, a “frameup.”

Well, Bill Collier, with a major assist from TeamSarah member Kelly S, and others, has them so *busted*! Among other things we have over 40 pages of evidence of their planning. This is *so* going to blow up in their faces, totally discrediting any liberal blogger who falls for their scheme. You can read Bill’s post on RedState about the plot here: http://www.redstate.com/freedomist/2009/01/02/liberal-conspiracy-to-frame-and-defame-teamsarah-busted/.

Don’t just read it! Send it around — with an invitation to join us here!

We have heightened security, requiring more stringent review of new members, and putting on many extra security measures. More details soon! We will do whatever it takes to maintain the integrity of Team Sarah. This is kind of expensive, so a heartfelt thanks to all those community members who have already used our little red Donate button to send whatever they can easily afford — whether $5 or $1000, we are so grateful for this support. It Matters! Thank you!

Our hearts are warmed by emails of praise for how hard we are working. And even moreso by this community’s lionhearted fortitude in dealing with those who violate our terms of use by quietly reporting an issue (rather than getting into arguments).

The bigger and more powerful Team Sarah grows, the more attacks we can expect. But the stronger we are at repelling them. We are inspired by the courage and grace of Sarah Palin! And by yours.

Emily

Thank you again for any donation you can afford.
