Video: I’m not closing the door on 2012, says Palin
posted at 8:51 pm on January 6, 2009 by Allahpundit
Ten minutes with the Canadian answer to Carson Daly for your edification on a slow news night. Nothing too provocative, although there’s an enjoyably tense moment around 10:30 when she’s asked if she ever thought her critics were right about her being unqualified.
In any case, I need an excuse to update the poll post from this morning and this’ll do. An eagle-eyed reader checked Newsmeat, which I should have done, and found out that the polling firm involved has a history of donating to — ta da — Frank and Lisa Murkowski. So if you’re wondering how reliable the data is, weigh that accordingly.

He became president and ran the country by appealing to the lowest common denominator. If that is what you consider great than good on you, I disagree.
If he were president now, we would likely be a nuclear cinder.
Squid Shark on January 6, 2009 at 11:09 PM
Fixed.
MrScribbler on January 6, 2009 at 11:09 PM
The point is not that she hasn’t been ambassador or Secretary of State. It’s that she doesn’t know about foreign affairs and makes herself an embarrassment when she she talks about them. And again, not all governors were good presidents. Nor does the fact that some good presidents had no foreign policy experience mean that lack of foreign policy experience is any kind of asset. Nor does it mean that they ignored such issues before taking office. Also, the fact that Obama is unqualified for office doesn’t make the “less less-qualified” worth picking.
And she couldn’t say.
One that was not only too obvious to need saying, but which didn’t follow from what she had just said. I think she realized she’d said something goofy and then tried to recover by saying something insignificant, probably from her not-very-useful talking-points.
The woman is good at what she does. Let her continue.

I answer you with facts and historical precedence and you counter with the same old “she’s unelectable” meme.
You’re a fake.
You’re the sort of fake that Robert Stacy McCain was referring to when he wrote this:
Go away, troll. I don’t believe you’re real.

wow … dense huh?
You said that “Republicans were drooling all over her”
I posted all of the things the media/democrats did to her, that had nothing to do with politics but were attempts to smear her and had nothing to do with Republicans
never did I once say that any of the media attention made her qualified to become president.
joey24007 on January 6, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Or he could have just challenged them to a duel and killed them. Wasn’t he fond of shooting reporters?
I really wish that Todd Palin had been allowed to fight duels with the a$$hat reporters who smeared his wife and kids.
Jim62sch on January 6, 2009 at 11:12 PM
Well, I don’t think the Palin-supporters and I are going to come to an agreement tonight. Plus, it’s late and I still (woe is me!) have a ton of Cicero to read. So I give you all the last word.
But I’d also like to say “thank you” for the good and respectful discussion. There’s been a distinct lack of respect at this website lately, I’m sorry to say, and it’s refreshing to have civil conversation with people that disagree with you.

1. ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz is the best response you could come up with, after making a pee pee joke.
2. So you say. Who asked?
3. Yet you threw a hissy fit that anyone would dare point out that Romney is a weirdo. “Leave Romney out of this!”
4. What overall ignorance? I merely quoted the man.
Calling you stupid would be an insult to stupid people. I’ll remind you instead that arrogance diminishes wisdom, and you’re short on resources to begin with.

sorry if this is posted twice…
No, I was saying that their is no such thing as foreign policy experience for first timers at POTUS. it’s ALL on the job training.
For people saying they didn’t like Sarah because of her ‘lack of foreign policy’ experience sound like the pampered Beverly Hills princes not liking her brand new convertible because it’s the wrong shade of red.
Nothing wrong with the convertible, in fact it’s a great car, they are being a little b!tch about it.
DaveC on January 6, 2009 at 11:16 PM
You call me dense but you make some awful tenuous connections.
You TC’s are drooling all over her and cant stop talking about how she saved us from a horrible defeat, blah blah blah and you trot out a bunch of fact unrelated to that topic and call me dense?

You may be onto something. The GOP establishment needs to wrested of its power and much of it needs to go back to the Republicans.

Even boring old Saxby Chambliss says that Palin saved his ass in the Georgia runoff. She got, what, around 20,000 total people at her appearances on his behalf? And Teh Mitt got a few hundred?
Oh, and it’s funny how people who have a huge problem with names like Piper or Tripp have no issue with the names Mitt or Newt.

I didnt say that, I dont like Romney at all, in fact, since we were talking about resumes, I thought I would point out that his is thicker.
I dont think that there is proof either way. I know that my dad, who I have never seen vote for a Dem in his life voted for Obama because of her, and he is not the only one.

Squid Shark on January 6, 2009 at 11:30 PM
Well… if you are going there, I know countless people who were going to vote Bob Barr or sit out the Presidential Election because of McCain.. UNTIL he nominated her. (see the bold and emphasis?)
myself included.
DaveC on January 6, 2009 at 11:31 PM
If she runs in 2012 she is a certifiable idiot. She has absolutely no chance of being elected. The MSM has destroyed her temporarily. The fact she might not recognize this is alarming.
She needs to be a very successful governor re-elected in 2010 and serve out her term and then run in 2016.
2012? Even if Obama is as bad as Carter, the odds are he will win the election. Palin has no chance even against him. Now before you jump ugly on me, remember I was among a small group here that said McCain’s only chance was with her on the ticket. That however does not change my feelings that she loses again in 2012 and wins, if possible, in 2016. There is a time and place for everything.
Here’s another prediction. If she keeps showing up in interviews talking about running etc she won’t even win the 2010 election for Gov of Alaska. Independents, the folks who decide all elections, will/are getting bored with her.
On a historical note you don’t want to know the fate of 95% of losing VP candidates. There is a reason.

I have never seen him vote for a Dem.
However, I was raised by him to be a Republican. He liked McCain and was considering him, but he was not happy with the knee jerk judgment he showed putting Palin on the ticket.
Also, I have been a registered member here and on CQ long before Obama was a blip on the radar screen.

The ‘hijinks’ that you label it will last as long as Sarah Palin is a viable candidate that could beat Obama in 2012. Don’t ever underestimate the trolls and the nutroots. They are mischief-makers extraordinaire with unlimited George Soros and Marxist type funding. They are as dangerous as the Goebbels propaganda machine or Hitler when he orchestrated his campaign to marginalize the Jews.

I don’t think Palin supporters will accept anyone else as a substitute if there is a chance of having her as the candidate, and she has a LOT of supporters. If she wasn’t the nominee (especially if there are any unfair attacks or primary shenanigans), we’d see Republican PUMA-ism on a huge scale.
Jim62sch on January 6, 2009 at 11:36 PM
Good for you then, maybe it is a wash. Therefore we are where we knew we were in January of 08. We were probably going to loose anyways. Maybe Palin brought on enough of you TC’s to make it respectable, maybe she drove away as many as she attracted, maybe she drove away more, we will never really know.
Squid Shark on January 6, 2009 at 11:37 PM
AIP springs to mind immediately.
Squid Shark on January 6, 2009 at 11:38 PM
Squid, the Palin fanatics don’t want to accept this – I had defections all over my family because of her, friends jumped ship left and right. Once McCain voted for the Bailout, Palin’s daughter was pregnant and she bombed in interviews there was no way I could vote for her. But these maniacs want to really believe it was McCain who lost the election. I cannot tell you how many said they could vote for McCain but not her.

I’m in the ‘wait until 2016′ group. I may be wrong and 2012 is her shot, but I think that waiting until 2016 is probably going to be the better move for a lot of reasons. In the meantime, I think that she needs to govern her state well, make the hard decisions, keep her nose clean, and make some rare appearances down in the Lower 48 to stay in the conversation. And I think that she is probably going to have to start forcefully knocking down 2012 talk if she wants to run for re-election in 2010.

I’m from Illinois and I knew how Obama became State Senator , the Illinois Senator and then President . Without the blessings of Richard Daley and his machine, Obama would never be in an elected office in Illinois . Whereas , Palin had to fight even against her own party to win . Obama did not . Do you really think that Obama would win against Bobby Rush or even Jack Ryan without the help of the Daley machine . The joke in Illinois was this , if the Illinois Republican party was not under the payroll of the Daley machine , Ditka would had run against Obama and would had stopped Obama in his tracks .

I said he was a GREAT President, not necessarily a GOOD human being. Great does not always mean good. And no we don’t need the lowest common denominator appeals, but we need two to three notches lower in appeal than the blue-blood old boys at the GOP and Beltway are giving us.

Governor Palin is unqualified because:
Her daughter was pregnant
Her “resume” is not Romney’s
She is “pretty”
Mass. is a bigger state
“My dad voted for the democrat-socialist because of her”
and she welcomed a political convention to town via satellite
oh and she has no “foreign policy experience”

That’s just troll talk. Everybody knows McCain was a dud except for the surge. His campaign was dead in the water and could do little until Palin joined the ticket.
Sure, there were McCain people who voted for Obama because of his pick of Palin, but very few compared to the number of Repubs. that decided to send in money, volunteer time, and get out to vote instead of staying home once Sarah was on board.
