Surprise: NBC reschedules Coulter

posted at 2:15 pm on January 6, 2009 by Allahpundit

Not one but two segments on tomorrow’s “Today” show, with a big kiss to Drudge posted on her website as thanks for getting “results.”

And to think, I thought this was a publicity stunt.

The wowOwow staff has a laugh at conservatives’ expense:

The surrounding controversy over the “Today” show appearance has only heightened attention around the author’s newest book, Guilty! Liberal “Victims” and Their Assault on America. While certain right-wing bloggers have suggested the “Today” show slight was evidence of a conspiracy among liberals to squelch attention to the book, the ensuing controversy about NBC has certainly played into the hands of the author and publisher.

Here she is this morning warming up for Lauer with Harry Smith in a little gladitorial combat over which side’s politicians are most likely to be shot by lunatics. Exit question: Is Media Matters right for once?

And as usual, Ann made perfect sense. Harry Smith on the other hand was clueless and seems incapable of getting the point of anything Ann said or wrote (which is really not very complicated) such as the ludicrous distortion that she is making herself out to be the victim and is a “whiner”.

Harry, you got owned, big time.

Metro on January 6, 2009 at 5:51 PM

Sure, but she’s also correct. If women hadn’t voted, most of us here would prefer the government we’d now have.
Esthier on January 6, 2009 at 4:41 PM

But that argument doesn’t comport with basic democratic principles. If we banned blacks and hispanics from voting, we probably would have McCain in office too. Likewise with voters under the age of 30. But in a democracy, you don’t get to do that, and there are extremely compelling public policy reasons why you don’t get to.

So, making that statement doesn’t really advance the argument for why McCain lost. It’s just designed to “shock” people. It’s a lesser form of having the PETA people run around naked and throwing paint on women’s mink coats to protest animal rights issues… Completely irresponsible.

No, it’s just a statement of fact, that, to most of us, the world would be much better if women didn’t vote. This is just a fact.

That doesn’t mean she wants the law changed.

Also, we’re not a direct democracy anyway, so your point isn’t quite valid on that front.

You have to improve your trolling skills. Next time, try adding a line to your post that channels Cartman, like: “The world would also be better off if you could beat your wife when she doesn’t get her bi— ass back in the kitchen and bake you some pie!”

I’m certainly not a troll. You simply don’t get it.

Arguing with me on this is likely arguing against Swift’s Modest Proposal.

Yes, I spoke in support of eating babies. Call Allah, stat. Maybe he’ll ban me.

Esthier on January 6, 2009 at 6:10 PM

But of course Swift was just a shock jock troll who did nothing to advance his argument. Is that your position?

Esthier on January 6, 2009 at 6:21 PM

LOL,..Whats the matter Harry? No tingle up the leg?…Ann Rocks!

christene on January 6, 2009 at 7:02 PM

She beat the snot out of him. She quotes statistics; he counters with a single anecdote. Ann wins in a walk.

mikeyboss on January 6, 2009 at 7:17 PM

Sorry, but as a conservative I NEED someone who is willing to go head-to-head with the MSM and not play patty cake with them. Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, Phil Donohue…I’ve watched the interviews and these guys think they can somehow make Ann cry by trying to on the offensive and clever. But she is non-stop attack and I love her for it. The thing with Ann is I USUALLY DON’T DISAGREE WITH HER.

I could play her line with Couric over and over again where she tells Perky, “No, I’m not the one taking it out of context, YOU’RE the one taking it out of context!” And all Perky could do was smile through gritted teeth and say, “No, I’m not!” Ha.

Why haven’t Ann & Rush hooked up? Imagine the incredible children — a better gene pool mix than even Steffi and Andre.

eucher on January 6, 2009 at 9:52 PM

i never really liked ann, but ill admit that shes smart and knows what shes talking about. theres plenty of proof out there that being shrill and an idiot equals squat.

hey, fourth times a charm!

So now we’re going to take time out to consider what Media Matters prints? No thanks! There is enough garbage coming from the MSM to waste my time, thankyouverymuch!

I’ll consider the sources, and put my money on Ann every time.

Side note: this should put to rest any stupid notion that conservativism is dead. In fact, it is so dead that NBC, aka. the Messiah Broadcast Corporation, promptly did an about face when the news of banning Ann leaked. Now if we can just do the same over at Fox [S]news for Michelle …

Exit question: Is Media Matters right for once?

Don’t be ridiculous. They are an organization of congenital liars.

As for Harry Smith, I was luxuriating in the delicious richness of a whiny leftist CBS morning show host referring to Ann Coulter’s work as “sophomoric” and “goofy”.

Ann Coulter did more research in legitimate social science just to write the forward of her book than Harry Smith has done in his entire television career. What a total douche-wit.

Jaibones on January 6, 2009 at 11:54 PM

And another thing –

Harry Smith thinks he’s “looked hate in the face” because his dipshit morning weather forecast and Hollywood gossip show has a window out on 5th Avenue in Manhattan’s east side?

Is he effing kidding me? Of course he is. What a pansy.

Jaibones on January 7, 2009 at 12:04 AM

In 2008 TV season, “Today” has averaged 6 million viewers (up 6%) and a 2.2 in adults 25-54 (flat). ABC’s “Good Morning America” has averaged 4.9 million (up 1%) and a 1.7 in adults 25-54 (flat). “Early Show” has averaged 3.5 million (up 20%) and a 1.3 in adults 25-54 (up 30%).

There are approximately 112.8 million households in the U.S. with televisions.

That means 3% of all households are watching CBS in the morning? No wonder they were so happy to get Ann.

wryteacher on January 7, 2009 at 12:07 AM

You GOTTA love her!

right2bright on January 7, 2009 at 9:57 AM

Liberals want unity as long as it is on their terms. Some day we may all learn it is not a Liberal’s sense of unity or a Conservatives sense of unity but UNITY, without the polar opposites that keep us divided. To get there it might help to keep in mind that honesty and integrity would be the first steps, and, MSM gets an F+ for the way they have conducted themselves over the last four years. Since they, along with academia and big government are the establishment, it takes those like Ann Coulter to wake us up, to break the mesmerism of of the powers that be, so that we can take the next steps towards living the dream of our forefathers.

DL13 on January 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM

*sigh*

Ann, allowing a question now and then without talking over the person like a female O’Reilly would do wonders for your image. Wonders.

MadisonConservative on January 6, 2009 at 2:29 PM

Here’s what I saw:

Harry Smith criticizes Ann’s book, and incidentally Ann herself (strange how those liberal criticisms always become so personal)

Then Ann defends herself, and Harry Smith keeps trying to interrupt her ( ” Take a breath, take a breath, take a breath, take a breath” ) so he could move on to his next point, presumably the comment about her needing a cross to climb up on.

And because Ann keeps talking to finish her point while Harry Smith tries to interrupt her, you say she should quit just talking over him.

On the contrary, she should let Harry Smith speak once she finishes her point, and not before.

After all, she’s answering a question that he asked.
