Meet Elizabeth Lin Morrissey! Update: More pics!

Our newest member of the family arrived at 11:28 am CT today!  Elizabeth Lin Morrissey weighs 7 lbs, 12 ozs, is 19″ long, and is doing very well indeed:

Missy’s a little tired but feeling very well.  David says he’s tired too, no doubt from the past week of waiting impatiently for Elizabeth’s arrival.  Missy was scheduled to get induced today after being so far overdue, but Elizabeth beat the deadline; Missy went into labor early this morning naturally and delivered quickly.  If Elizabeth can meet deadlines like that, she’ll make a natural writer — so I think we’ll call her the Little Scribe.

Here’s Grandpa meeting his second granddaughter for the first time:

I’m going to have much, much more later … and for the next twenty years, too.

Update: More pictures!   The First Mate got some grandma time:

Dad (the Mathemagician) finally got his picture taken with Elizabeth:

The Little Admiral meets the Little Scribe for the first time:

And the whole family gets their first picture together:

I’ll put together a slide show soon ….

Congratulations to you, Cap’n Ed! And to your son, daughter-in-law and your wife, too!

Of course, a big hug to Elizabeth’s Big Sister! She’s now going to have a real doll to feed and change a diaper for!

A newborn child is a blessing from God and a defeat for Death. Yipee!

(Wish me luck, man. Mine is due Feb. 9th, a few days earlier than we all thought. She’s been moving and kicking: I guess she’s running out of room at this point… And we don’t have a crib for her yet! *@$%^@! Even her Big Sister is getting impatient!)

Very beautiful little girl. As the father of a precious little two year old myself, I figure she had you wrapped around her little finger as soon as you laid eyes on her. Try as I may, I can’t spoil mine enough.

Angry Dumbo on January 5, 2009 at 3:52 PM

Been said before…Congratulations!

(And a well-deserved “thank you” goes out to the parents for their improving the gene pool.)

Absolutely beautiful! Congratulations. :-) You have a gorgeous family. Smart too!

Mojave Mark on January 5, 2009 at 7:58 PM

Congratulations!

Parenting is all good and well, but I’m in the same mode as the cartoon. “If I’d known how much fun it was to be a Grandparent, I’d have done that first.”

Love them to death, have all the fun in the world with them, and when you are worn out and tired of it all, send them home to their parents!

Heh!

And the parents appreciate that the Grandparents are usually good for a couple of days when they can’t take it any more. It all works out, and you can’t beat the Grandpa business!

Enjoy!

annoyinglittletwerp on January 5, 2009 at 9:45 PM

Congratulations, Ed, what a beautiful family!

I have to laugh at Dad’s expression though. “OMG … better start stocking up on the ammo now … TWO daughters to watch out for when the boys start coming round….”

Rosmerta on January 5, 2009 at 11:43 PM

YAY!!!! Such a beautiful baby Ed. Congrats! Her big sister is very pretty. Mom and Dad make a beautiful couple. This is great news. I will search for my hidden cigar and fire it up! Just hope hubby don’t bust me and get jealous. This is fantastic and it made my day. I love my grand kids too. It is a feeling when one becomes a grand parent that just can’t describe. Congrats again!

sheebe on January 6, 2009 at 12:45 AM

Congratulations Ed and family. And…I thought I had the championship title for showing grandchildren’s pictures. I bow to you Ed, you win.

jeanie on January 6, 2009 at 8:13 AM

Atta boy Ed, another grandchild to spoil and return to get even. It is true, all babies look like Churchill (only kidding – but don’t give her a cigar).

MSGTAS on January 6, 2009 at 9:40 AM
