It looks like today’s the day we welcome Granddaughter #2 into the Morrissey family! The DIL and the Mathemagician have arrived at the hospital, where they plan on inducing labor, so we’ll head down to the hospital soon for the festivities. Instead of a live show, I’ll replay a classic episode with Kevin McCullough. We discuss the intersection of politics and faith and have plenty of fun doing it. We also talked about BMX Radio Now, Kevin and Stephen’s exploding success in independent talk radio, as well as Kevin’s book, The Kind of Man Every Man Should Be: Taking a Stand for True Masculinity.
Note: I won’t be live-blogging the birth, as some have suggested, but if I get the opportunity, I’ll participate in the chat room. I’ll post some pictures later of the family and the new addition.
We’re also holding a fundraising drive for Twin Cities Marriage Encounter. I’ll be posting PayPal buttons for one-time and automatic monthly donations to this non-profit, which tries to build stronger communities by strengthening marriages, on my show posts until the end of the year. We now have a matching challenge!. If we can raise $1500 by January 15th, an anonymous Hot Air reader will match those funds himself. Donations are tax deductible! Please note The Ed Morrissey Show or Hot Air on the memo line so that we can keep track for the match challenge:
Now you can join the conversation in the chat room! Be sure to register at Ustream to participate in our raucous live-chat sessions. (And if the log-in prompt doesn’t come up in the chat box below, use this link instead.) Jazz Shaw of The Moderate Voice moderates the chat, and he has his Troll Gun Trivia Contest running before the show, for those who get there early — and are registered!

My experience has been hospitals ban photography in the delivery room until the child is born for liability reasons (perhaps that is because my kids were c-sections). Still, I appreciated the ban because taking pictures generally takes dad out of the experience–being in the moment is what counts. Live blogging would also take away from that experience. Plus, I assume grandpa does not get to go into the delivery room anyway so live blogging would be from the waiting room perspective.
On the photography side moms generally does not need a close up series of photos or video of a c-section, crowning or afterbirth. Somethings are best left undocumented.
