Audio: Coulter claims NBC set her up

posted at 8:31 pm on January 5, 2009 by Allahpundit

Six minutes from John Gibson’s radio show punctuated by the charge that they booked her fully intending all along to cancel at the last minute. Really? Just to slightly inconvenience her while doing the rounds of other morning talk shows?

Radical countertheory: They booked her intending to cancel but also fully intending to invite her back, knowing that Drudge could be relied on to hype the “controversy” so that her raincheck appearance would do huge ratings. Exit question: Was she in on it or not?

Blowback

He (April is a gay guy)
Has he/she confirmed that? I think she has made statements in the feminine direction and writes like a teenage girl. Actually, now that I think about it, you could be correct. Maybe april is a typical, confused, middle aged male resident of grenwich village.

peacenprosperity on January 6, 2009 at 9:57 AM

Now you are really funny…and so wrong. As I have said before, I have a ton of gay friends/people around me in my daily life, as does my sister and my mom, I grew up in Greenwich Village for heavens sake.

But I can guarantee you I probably have less gay male friends than Ann. Or I probably socialize with them less these days…than she does. LOLOLOL

(April is a gay guy) uses the rhetoric of the dKos, DU crowd.

Jaibones on January 6, 2009 at 8:18 AM

No, I am a Jewish New Yorker talking like one…LOL.

I so think it may be wishful thinking on your part though. Sorry to disappoint you, I am not a man for you.

AprilOrit on January 6, 2009 at 10:41 AM

Sometimes I think Ann Coulter is a liberal pretending to be a conservative because she is just so outlandish that I think it’s like Stephen Colbert pretending to be conservative pundit on his show.

terryannonline on January 5, 2009 at 10:33 PM

You only say that because you’ve never read what she writes. If you can’t separate personality from talent, then I assume you don’t watch any Sean Penn movies (or really anything from Hollywood) either then.

I don’t have a problem with people who don’t like her and who think she goes to far. She probably does. I can see this even though her antics are cathartic for me at times. I mean she gives as good as she gets, no more no less. That used to be considered a fair fight.

But for people to say the things you have, terry, without even reading her, that’s just ignorance. Fine if you want to be ignorant on Coulter, but just realize that’s what you’re doing. You won’t convince anyone who knows better and will likely only appeal to people who already agree with you.

and tell it like it is just like Coulter does by calling others hateful names like pansey and f*gg*t and for not permitting us to get our hands dirty….

AprilOrit on January 5, 2009 at 11:45 PM

1. How is pansey worse than calling Edwards Silky Pony? Don’t they essentially mean the same thing?

2. She never used the word f*ggot.

I add: Does anyone here really think that, without Coulter, we’d be painted like friendly little teddy bears? William F. Buckley’s first book was compared to a cross-burning by the Klan.

emailnuevo on January 5, 2009 at 10:17 PM

For everyone criticizing her without reading a thing she’s written, read Slander. She makes the case quite well that we’ve been slandered for years and just take it. This was written before she did anything “attention whorey” that was “mean.”

She’s the only one we have like her. Do you guys realize how many of her there are on the Left?

She’s targeted even though the Left does this all the time, and we really don’t even call them on it. Turning the other check is not a call to suicide. Sure, Coulter goes to far, but the rest of us don’t even bother most of the time.

Esthier on January 6, 2009 at 10:55 AM

April Orit is a progressive tool who used to infect powerlineblog with regularity.

OTOH Ann Coulter is a gem. She is right (in terms of being both correct AND conservative). She is fearless. She exposes PC for its worthlessness. She is ours.

Ann Coulter is brilliant, knowledgeable, and articulate. She knows what she is doing when she phrases her points with emotion-inducing words. She is distinguishing the thinkers from the feelers. She has disdain for those who rely on their non-rational elements, those who don’t really listen to her message.

Ann Coulter raises the hackles of the squishy. She is our Conservative warrior.

AprilOrit on January 6, 2009 at 10:41 AM

And that’s funny because you think she’s a tranny?

It’s probably actually true. She does have gay friends. She’s always spoken highly of gays in general.

Esthier on January 6, 2009 at 10:58 AM

Carolyn Kennedy Schlossberg has the same visible Adams apple. Is she a tranny, too?

LOL the Coulter critics can’t argue content at all.

onlineanalyst on January 6, 2009 at 11:13 AM

The left never argues on the basis of facts or reason. It’s always about emotion and personal attacks. Until you turn the gun on them, that is. Then they squeal like school girls “not fair…not fair!” It’s the left that launches awful personal attacks against Americans without proof and just keeps telling lies with no proof. When someone calls them on it…they do their usual “who me” routine and attack the person that questioned them. They have no morals so they don’t care!

sabbott on January 6, 2009 at 11:45 AM

I love Ann Coulter. She has the b*lls I wish a lot more conservatives had. I love her books because they are exrtremely informative and well researched. Best of all I love that she makes heads explode…I’m sick of all of us being so nice and civilized…oh and she was so right about McCain!

CCRWM on January 5, 2009 at 8:56 PM

Ann rocks… If more of the “so-called” Conservatives would hit the turd lefties the way she does and pound it home, we’d be sweeping into Offices in 2010… Until, continued failures and wondering why… Fight back for once!

Mark Garnett on January 6, 2009 at 11:51 AM

2. She never used the word f*ggot.

To be fair and clear, I think she did, but indirectly. The line was something like (I’m paraphrasing) “I was going to say something about John Edwards but then I found out that they make you go to rehab if you call someone a faggot.”

I thought it was a funny commentary on the PC silliness that engulfed the Grey’s Anatomy cast, but Ann did use the word.

Kensington on January 6, 2009 at 11:52 AM

Carolyn Kennedy Schlossberg has the same visible Adams apple. Is she a tranny, too?

She must be. Otherwise, it means that the super scary smart liberals simply don’t know that some girls have adam’s apples, too.

Kensington on January 6, 2009 at 11:54 AM

It’s probably actually true. She does have gay friends. She’s always spoken highly of gays in general.

She lives in New York and likes masculine men, doesn’t she? The Manhattan gays are more virile than the straights.

Kensington on January 6, 2009 at 11:58 AM

Coulter for Senate. Maybe in Minnesota.

Of course, she’s over-qualified to be in the Senate, if you compare her to Franken or Caroline.

Speaking of which, has anyone ever seen Coulter and CKennedy in the same place at the same time?

hawksruleva on January 6, 2009 at 12:02 PM

For the folks who hate Ann, consider this. If the compassionate left didn’t have who to pick on, who would they be picking on? They certainly wouldn’t start being nice.

Ann, like Rush, just gives as good as she gets. And that infuriates the left, who are used to Republicans using their own bullets to execute anyone who even moderately annoys a handful of liberals.

hawksruleva on January 6, 2009 at 12:06 PM

Kensington on January 6, 2009 at 11:52 AM

I found the quote:

“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I’m – so, kind of at an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards, so I think I’ll just conclude here and take your questions.”

I thought she had instead sometimes like, “I’ll have to go to rehab” rather than mentioning the specific word. In retrospect, had she done that instead, her comment might have been viewed as it was intended, as a comment on Washington going to rehab, rather than as a slur.

Esthier on January 6, 2009 at 12:35 PM

Speaking of which, has anyone ever seen Coulter and CKennedy in the same place at the same time?

Actually I’ve never seen Caroline Kennedy any place at any time prior to her working for Obama.

As for Ann having an adam’s apple – Ann Coulter is a beautiful woman and of course I would LOVE to go out with her. Of course that will never happen but it would be a fantastic date. She’s really brilliant. And gorgeous. She’s far more successful than me so I can only dream.

Audio: Coulter claims NBC set her up

She can’t take controversy she didn’t start or couldn’t end.

Keep it coming until she’s afraid of even appearing on Murdoch’s Home for the Angry Republicans.

sethstorm on January 6, 2009 at 1:06 PM

Now, I don’t think she would be. I think she would have written Coulter off as a self involved media wh*re.

And she dates Liberals.

Barbara would have never approved of that or of wearing a black cocktail dress at 10 in the morning. She had more class than that.

AprilOrit on January 6, 2009 at 2:06 AM

This is proof that you are either a leftie, playing with this crowd and hating Ann for her talents/success, or a hater – what’s next? no interracial dating? telling love to go away because it’s a liberal one fell for? telling AllahP to stop caring for Kirsten Powers?, or you’re nuts, or a Mother Theresa type, envious of Ann’s figure, or who knows…

JiangxiDad called you a liar in the last two weeks because you claimed to have celebrated your 14th anniversary while also being sun-burned from your honeymoon. It was telling to watch. Of course you can claim anything you want here – it’s all anonymous. Keep spinning. It’s fun to watch little go round, and round, and round again.

What’s wrong with that pairing? Is Kirsten too conservative for allah?

Didn’t he/she tell you he/she had a terrible disease? He/she used it on me once to deflect criticism. And I remember something about he/she traveling around the country with her/his mother helping poor people.

peacenprosperity on January 6, 2009 at 1:16 PM

I like Ann Coulter. I’ve banned NBC from my home years ago. I went to Borders this morning and bought her book Guilty. Ann rocks. NBC blows.

I believe it was cancer. I feel for anyone who goes through that and I empathize with April, or anyone. It’s a horrible ailment. It robbed my mother of her life at 33. It is a tabu subject and should be left alone, other than to be understanding when it comes up.

Helping the poor is noble, if one teaches them how to “fish”, unless they are orphans, the incapacitated to the point where they can’t do anything for themselves, the very old, the really needy. If one just hands the others the fish, it is just that, a one-time handout.

Entelechy on January 6, 2009 at 1:31 PM

Exit question: Was she in on it or not?

Let’s have a poll:

Who would be more likely to be a liar, Coulter or Allahpundit?

Hint: At least we know that Coulter is more forthcoming about her identity.

That would be Mrs. Silber to you, thank you very much. And yes I did stop drinking in 1994. And yes I have Large Diffuse B Cell Non Hodgkin Lymphoma. I was diagnosed at the end of Stage II, I had an enlarged lymph node in my thigh.

Thankfully it showed up, there was pain and I immediately went to the emergency room. My biopsy came back postive, it was determined I was most likely toward the end of Stage II and was basically asymptomatic except for the one lone enlarged lymph node in my upper leg, and I felt somewhat tired, but not too much that it was unmanagable.

I had mono twice, once at 11 and agian at 14 and I thought, if anything, that I had Epstein Barr.

My leg blew up to twice it’s size, I was admitted into the hospital immediately – the emergency room was at Lenox Hill and stay for leg but moved to Sloan Kettering for chemo & radiation.

I was put on predisone prescription and several others and then started CHOP chemo shortly after they got my leg under control.

I followed up with several radiation treatments, and because I had some small tumors in my groin I was radiated in my lower abdomen – back area. As I result I can never bear children.

For now I am in remission, I keep up with my oncologist regularly, eat well, avoid certain foods, do not smoke, do not drink.

Anything else you need to know?

Let me tell you something, lymphoma is a part of my life – it hit me like a near death experience and thankfully it allows me see things quite differently than you.

Believe me I wouldn’t wish this black sheep of all cancers on anyone but it’s the best remedy for Truther style tin foil hat bitterness this side of hell.

It will knock the hell out of you while knocking some sense back into you, all it one shot of reality.

But if you seriously believe I care to use it in any arguement with you – you are seriously mistaken.

So you can take that tired old Coulter infallibility arguement from her last book and tuck away for a rainy day or for the next sucker who challenges your way of thinking.

AprilOrit on January 6, 2009 at 5:07 PM

April, I tried to convey to the commenter who used your cancer to please leave the topic alone and to be understanding. I lost my mother to something similar to what you had, when I was very young, and I sincerely hope that you keep under control and healthy, to never have it reoccur, ever.

I work in hospitals across the country and see too much, often. In this regard we don’t see things differently.

It has nothing to do with Ann and we can debate the two separately.

I sincerely wish you all the best in your fight and in helping others to do the same,
