Audio: Coulter claims NBC set her up

Six minutes from John Gibson’s radio show punctuated by the charge that they booked her fully intending all along to cancel at the last minute. Really? Just to slightly inconvenience her while doing the rounds of other morning talk shows?
Radical countertheory: They booked her intending to cancel but also fully intending to invite her back, knowing that Drudge could be relied on to hype the “controversy” so that her raincheck appearance would do huge ratings. Exit question: Was she in on it or not?

Remember, do not examine a folly too closely, just check what it accomplishes.

circles within circles man….
look it’s all good NBC looks even more like biased tools than ordinary and Annie gets free publicity.
sven10077 on January 5, 2009 at 8:34 PM
I’ll be off to booksamillion tomorrow afternoon to buy her new book :)
Vegi on January 5, 2009 at 8:34 PM
Of course she was, Anne Coulter is a master at self-promotion.
doriangrey on January 5, 2009 at 8:34 PM
How about Ocam’s Razor, here? Perhaps the simplest answer is the most likely to be correct. NBC thought they could disinvite Ann quietly, and that no one outside of NBC would have to know. When it gets splashed all over Drudge, they look like absolute tools, and considering what their ratings are looking like now, they simply couldn’t afford to look any worse.
gryphon202 on January 5, 2009 at 8:39 PM
I dunno, you may be giving NBC too much credit for being smart.

Not sure……………..

Ann Coulter: An embarrassment to conservatism.
NBC News: An embarrassment to journalism.
terryannonline on January 5, 2009 at 8:47 PM
NBC News is a sewer. The Today Show is one of the more mindnumbingly stupid shows on TV. I’m believing the story. It’s like the Obama apologist/touchy feely show.
therightwinger on January 5, 2009 at 8:48 PM
p.s. I love Ann Coulter. What a brilliant, firey truth teller.
therightwinger on January 5, 2009 at 8:49 PM
At least she knows who she can count on.

Classy and original- /sarc
Jimbo I suspect Ms. Coulter is far more woman than you are man. I am also quite confident that she would not have any problem exposing you as a mental midget.
Jamson64 on January 5, 2009 at 8:56 PM
I love Ann Coulter. She has the b*lls I wish a lot more conservatives had. I love her books because they are exrtremely informative and well researched. Best of all I love that she makes heads explode…I’m sick of all of us being so nice and civilized…oh and she was so right about McCain!
CCRWM on January 5, 2009 at 8:56 PM

Jamson64 on January 5, 2009 at 8:57 PM
Great. A conspiracy. I’ll be eager to see which commentors jump on that one.
Spirit of 1776 on January 5, 2009 at 8:58 PM
Seriously, AP, are you insane? Where does the cynical act end with you? This woman is clearly and obviously sincere in her conservatism. She is a Christian and believes she is fighting on behalf of God, which is what makes her so bold and fearless in that way that annoys the squishes and outrages the liberals.
There’s no conspiracy here, and nothing for you to figure out regarding her motives. It is as it is.
You could not be more wrong. Read her books and then send her a thank you note.
Kensington on January 5, 2009 at 9:02 PM
I pre-ordered her book some time ago. I actually enjoy Ann Coulter. Her sarcasm, wit, and most importantly, the fact that she’s absolutely correct in every statement, they’re all well researched, make her an entertaining and informative read.
That being said, even if she had been on NBC’s Today, I don’t think I could have managed to watch it. Not because of Coulter, but because of the Liberal Nuts on NBC. Although watching them all sit and twitch like they’re hooked to electrical outlets may have been entertaining.
Snake307 on January 5, 2009 at 9:04 PM
I think you mean she’s an embarrassment to 1) Moderates and 2) Those who go along to get along.
Spirit of 1776 on January 5, 2009 at 9:05 PM
Love Ann. She is a fire starter because she has more balls than the men in the senate and house to say what liberals really are.
If NBC is in it with Ann, it only will make NBC look bad in whichever scenario.
A) NBC disinvites Ann, makes them seem biased to some drones that voted for Obama, and will heighten conservative hatred for the network.
B) NBC invites her back, they are seen as wusses to the far left and grovelers for ratings, which may make them lose lefties as viewers and they are NBC’s base.
Today show may get the viewers, but they’ll look like fools once Ann is done with whomever is the interviewer. Look what she did to Lauer last time.

Ann will not “re-appear” on NBC, they like Senator Al Frucken are classless and unworthy of any recognition at all. She will be on Hannity and Combs tonight.
dmann on January 5, 2009 at 9:10 PM
btw, w/ absolutely NO evidence to support that she was “in” on it cynics like A.P. immediately want to shout “conspiracy” — jmo, but that says more about them than ann …
Buckaroo on January 5, 2009 at 9:11 PM
Could be a mnaufactured controversy. Ann is a master at promoting her books and NBC would be bankrupt if they we’re not under the green thumb of GE. I say that regardless of whether she is on it or not, she still wins… free publicity, even NBC gets noticed, they some conservative eyeballs pointed their way without having to swim over to this side of the pool.

You know, liking Ann Coulter is not a qualification for being conservative. I’m a diehard conservative and I think she’s gone way too far sometimes. We don’t all have to march in lockstep. Leave that to the BHO groupies.

Did anyone see the article at Instapundit about who is buying IndyMac, the bank Sen. Shumer threw under the bus for no apparent reason? I think the reason has become clear. Mr. Soros is a scary guy.

I love Ann, she used to kinda rub me the wrong way until I started reading her books. She is dead on with her analysis and has a great sense of humor when she describes the left and their foibles.
conservnut on January 5, 2009 at 9:17 PM
Right. We get people whining all the time that our spokesmen, candidates, and elected officials do not go far enough. Coulter is very good at articulating hers and the conservative position, does not let jerks walk all over her, and does it with a sense of humor. For that she gets attacked. I chalk it up to pure envy.

Ann Coulter is what gets me through the Senator Al Franken thing. As she said either the day of or after the election about Franken, if we’re going to be in the cesspool for four years, let’s jump in all the way.

Not surprised…America needs to wake up and realize it’s not really President Obama but President Soros…
Is Shumer still being sued over the failure?
CCRWM on January 5, 2009 at 9:20 PM
You are right of course but I appreciate her talents and I am glad to know that there is a conservative out there who can stand up to anyone and everyone. It’s nice to know that we don’t have to just take the crap thrown at conservatives for no good reason but that we are conservatives and at least one person will give as good as she gets.
Cindy Munford on January 5, 2009 at 9:21 PM
Is it me or does it seem that she gets constantly interrupted by the MSM especilly when she is scoring points?
CCRWM on January 5, 2009 at 9:22 PM
Not sure about litigation, I will try to look into it but I don’t want to highjack the thread. I trust that Ed and Allah will keep their eyes open.
Cindy Munford on January 5, 2009 at 9:23 PM
For that matter, liking and appreciating Ann Coulter has nothing to do with marching in lockstep. It has to do with thinking that it’s good for someone to be as bold, fearless and nervy as she is. It’s good for conservatism.
Kensington on January 5, 2009 at 9:25 PM
Exit question: Was she in on it or not?
In on anything that made Drudge look bad? In a word, no.

I’m not a Conservative, I’m a Republican (and understand the difference) and I really like Coulter and her whole act. I disagree with her on a couple of points but i think her bold in your face style is what the right needs to get the message out.
I’m not sure why the rightosphere loves dumping on the Coulters of the world, but it isn’t helping us take seats. If you don’t like Ann Coulter don’t buy her book, but why call her the same names mouth foaming lefty cretin do? At that point is it really her making you look bad?

Hannity and Limbaugh — and Palin, for that matter — are bold, fearless, and nervy too, and I like them all. You can be all of those things without getting in people’s faces.
I don’t say she doesn’t make good points or have some funny lines. I just don’t like her style overall. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
Gina on January 5, 2009 at 9:37 PM
One thig about Ann too, I can’t remember who it was but some idiot asked her if she’d ever slept with a liberal… I have seen her treated with a lot of disrespect but it doen’t make her shrink…

I don’t watch Jon Stewart. Can’t stand the guy anymore. You are right, I haven’t read her books but I’ve seen interviewed several times and she is abrasive, therefore, I have no reason to read one her books.

Anyone have Michelle’s private e-mail address so we can start campaigning to get an actual conservative moderator?
peacenprosperity on January 5, 2009 at 9:48 PM
I don’t like what she says in interviews so why would I buy one of her books? It’s not about being “intellectual.” It’s just a matter of taste.
terryannonline on January 5, 2009 at 9:49 PM
You claim she is an embarrassment to conservatives based solely on “several interviews” in spite of knowing nothing about her actual body of work? That doesn’t seem like a good idea.
Kensington on January 5, 2009 at 9:49 PM
So, what kind of conservative am I? I have read her books and don’t watch Jon Stewart. I think Ann is brilliant, funny, and usually spot on. Once in a blue moon I don’t like what she does, but then again I could say the same thing about my spouse, teenage son, or even the bloggers at Hot Air.

I love to bring a Coulter, Bolton or Spencer book when I fly and watch the response of my row mates, it is usually a great conversation starter. “We” win 80 – 90% of the time!
dmann on January 5, 2009 at 9:49 PM
Fine, but understand that her books and positions are very conservative and rooted in intellectual rigor, the sort of stuff that conservatism should be based upon. It’s not always pretty.
By the way, your library probably has all of her books; you wouldn’t have to spend a cent.
Kensington on January 5, 2009 at 9:51 PM
Yes I’m basing my claim on interviews I’ve seen and heard. She likes to name call and say outrageous things and I say that is embarrassing.

A thenthitive one.
peacenprosperity on January 5, 2009 at 9:52 PM
I guess this is my obligatory defense of Ann Coulter post. Say or write what you want about Coulter, but she fights: she takes it to the enemy and–occasionally–scores a hit. I know Michelle Malkin was offended by Coulter’s off-color ‘towelhead’ remark awhile back–and no, I’m not defending Coulter’s use of the term. I object to her use of the term, as well. What I am doing is supporting the woman and her work. Many object to her aggressive promotion of her books. Tell me, since when do Republicans in general and conservatives in particular take umbrage at someone making lots of money writing books or doing the speaking circuit slamming liberals?
troyriser_gopftw on January 5, 2009 at 9:52 PM
Woops, misread what you said! Never mind :)
Buy Danish on January 5, 2009 at 9:52 PM
I have enjoyed reading Ann Coulter’s books, which are better than her TV appearances; and as I indicate below, I think Ms. Coulter can be very effective in the days ahead. In the year leading up to the 2008 election, however, I thought that many of her comments were ill-considered and counter-productive in way that was helping the Democrats to win in a difficult year for the GOP and that Ms. Coulter’s stated support of Hillary at one point was just plain dumb. But the current political situation is such that Ms. Coulter can now go after the media and the Democrats so as to be very, very helpful to conservatives and Republicans.
Phil Byler on January 5, 2009 at 9:53 PM
Exactly. The book should be called Conservative Victims of Ann Coulter’s Assault on America.
Conservatives and Republicans are all the real victims – of her suck-uppitry and self promotion.
Definately needs to be banned more and kept from working.
Maybe Sean Vannity will surprise us (love that name from Debbie Schlussel) all by becoming man enough to step up to the plate and do good for his country.

Annie and people like some of us here are just as mean, dirty, and vulgar as the Leftoids in a jam and have the backing of logic that the ELF and Goreons lack.
