Yes, unclesmrgol, we have an elected government. Hitler was elected chancellor and we know where that went. I’m not saying the big-eared freak is Hitler, but I’ve never been more apprehensive about such a possibility in my lifetime. The Germans were willing to give over to Hitler their hope for change and got change they never imagined. We think our form of government protects us from such tyrrany, but can we be certain of that? How will we know if and when we reach the tipping point?
We have given over to government so much of our power over the past 75 years that we stopped recognizing the difference between what we willingly hand over and what they take with impunity.
I have faith in our form of government, not in our government per se. That faith should come with a microscope and we owe it to posterity to keep a very sharp eye on them. Violence should always be a last resort, but it must always be a distasteful alternative to living as sheep.

I live in the USA where I can vote but only for two candidates from the same School, Neighborhood, Family, or Class. Essentially the same candidate. I live in the USA where, if business can’t create a profitable model, the Government takes it out in taxes directly from my paycheck without my permission and I have NO say. I live in the USA where I am not allowed to defend the borders of my own land. I live in USA where I can not “OWN” property because if I don’t pay taxes (rent) to the Government they can seize that property meaning, it owns it. I could go on but in short Ed, you live in a grade school textbook fantasy and it’s time to wake up.

Why don’t you run for public office, get all of your (obviously) many friends to vote for you, and then take action to change all the things you dislike. As for property taxes, every government that allows property ownership has a form of taxation on that property, and failure to pay those taxes can cause escheat of the property to the government. What is your proposition to replace such taxes? If you are of my ilk, you want the people who benefit from government provided services to pay the costs of those services; property taxes are certainly one way of doing that. Again, what’s your proposition?

I love Austin. I would live no where lese in Texas, except maybe San Antonio. Austin is a great mix. It isn’t San Francisco or New York liberal.

It’s a college town, so you get the institutional liberals and the gullible young hearts here. But, there are plenty of sensible libertarian minded people here. More so than other places even.

Now, I know no one here likes Ron Paul, I would never vote for the guy, but this town was crazy for him and not so crazy on Obama.

Austin is a hotbed of uber liberals lunatic moonbats.

Regardless of Darby’s politics, he rightly saw political violence as illegitimate and un-American at its core.

The American Revolutionary War was political violence, and I approve that war. The assassination of Huey Long was political violence, and I breathe a sigh of relief every time I think of it. Certainly political violence is illegitimate, but “illegitimate” and “bad” don’t seem to be exactly the same.

However, after saying that, it should also be okay for others to use violence against them on the same playing field. In that way, the air is cleared. Let them take their shot, and then let some of us take ours. Law and order will be restored very quickly.

Unfortunately, when “the time comes” they may even have the police on their side.

Austin is loony liberal because of UT-Austin and the torrent of out-of-state libs who are flooding in and remain impervious to Texas culture or conservatism. One recent arrival remarked to me that she was glad to be out of PA and away from “all those horrible conservatives”. I cautioned her politely not to assume that everyone you meet in Austin is a liberal and, to her credit, she was obviously embarrassed.

I have to agree with mcg that libs do add color and good music to an area but you’re always better off when they’re not in charge of anything important.

Austin is Texas’s San Fransisco. Fence it in and fumigate it.

This is the single most brain-dead comment I have seen on this site. There may be people thinking the same way about where *you* live, but maybe your tiny brain cannot comprehend that possibility. The irony is : people like you call leftists “radicals”. Please take a tutorial sometime from an educated conservative like Ed on HA.

Having lived in Austin for many years, I have seen directly some of the best minds in action, designing some of the smartest microprocessors in the industry. But of course, you have no idea what that means.

Does this shedding of blood have to happen suddenly, or could it be drawn out?

Would a bunch of lynchings count?

How about union/employer violence?

Obviously, I have a slightly different opinion of Jefferson’s comment than the one you have, and a different idea as to whether people ought to be shooting guns and throwing molotov cocktails to change things.

We have the government we elected — not some king or dictator. If someone wants to change it, they should get elected to office.

Breaking in, cutting through fences, and shutting things down because you are politically opposed to them will not be tolerated.

And kudos to all who expose them and their un-American behavior, give the guy a medal already.

Instead, she wants to destroy the system so that she can impose her own ideas on a vast majority of unwilling citizens by force, intimidation, and terrorism.

They are “for the people”, except for when they don’t think and vote like them – as I always say, they are not liberal, progressive or democratic in any sense. They are idealistic militant terrorist hacks.

My view is that it’s good to keep some liberals around, because they do produce good food, good music, and good art. Just watch ‘em close.
