WASHINGTON (CNN) – As the nation prepares for the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama, a leading Democrat is not letting up in his criticism of President George W. Bush.

“I really do believe President Bush is the worst president we’ve ever had,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

A majority of white folks have largely eliminated racism from their makeup today. A majority of black folks have not. (Baldilocks excepted, of course.) So who is the racist here? White folks who overwhelmingly elected a black man as President because his skin color doesn’t matter to them? Or black folks who insist that only a black candidate can replace the Senator they elected, and who now goes to lead us all?

The question is rhetorical, people. Of course, there is no right answer. But there is an accurate answer.

Exit question one: Why does Reid think Jackson can’t win a statewide race? He was a co-chair of Obama’s campaign. More than anyone else, he can count on Superman to stump for him in 2010.

Can he count on Superman, who always seems to be stabbing the Jacksons in the back? (Nicely, of course). Was Reid relaying the Obama’s wishes? Why isn’t Jarrett part of this discussion? (Guess: Obama wanted his “insider” in the Senate, since he doesn’t trust anybody but his closest pals; Reid squashed that, just like Pelosi warned O that Emanuel better back off in the House.)

Exit question two: Assuming the Burris appointment ends up quashed, aren’t the big winners … Jackson, Davis, and Jones? The lieutenant governor wouldn’t dare pick a white candidate to replace a black appointee who was blocked, and they’re the three frontrunners. Smart money’s on Davis, who isn’t tainted by a cameo in the federal case against Blagojevich and who had the dignity to reject Blago’s offer before Burris accepted.

Nah, go with Jones. Chicago insiders figured he’d get the nod for his cooperation in getting that pesky ethics bill passed — you know, the same ethics bill that Jones had blocked for over a year; the same bill that outlawed “pay-to-play” which drove Blago to want the cash before the end of the year?

I guess we, the US public, will ‘eventually’ see them,yes?

As the days go by, I’m starting to doubt it, especially since we now know that Dirty Harry is supposedly on tape. I’ve got this bad feeling that once The One is coronated on the 20th, he’s going to call for a special prosecutor, who’s going to make all of this disappear including Fitzgerald.

Killing two birds with one stone……a really special prosecutor without Obama having to officially fire Fitz.

Glad to hear Cornyn speaking as an aggressive conservative being the leader of Senate Republicans (not McC).

That was my first thought when I read the quote, too. Cornyn is sticking it to Reid by simply and clearly relaying what Reid said and did. I’d love to have a transcript of those wiretaps. I guess we, the US public, will ‘eventually’ see them,yes?
