Heart-ache video: The media’s unrequited love for Obama
posted at 3:30 pm on January 2, 2009 by Allahpundit
They compliment him. They send him flowers. They make time for the little things, like asking him how his day was. Most of all, they listen.
But all he wants is his waffle.
Behold the agony of the jilted admirer, lovestruck even in the teeth of rejection. Exit question: Is the media the ultimate beta male? Click the image to watch.

Well, at least he wasn’t munching on fruit loops.
Then I’d really be worried about “Don’t Ass Don’t Tell”.

Come on, guys. You’ve been so hard on me this election…I’m just gonna go ahead and skip questions I don’t like. Is that cool? Is that uber-cool with you guys?

Considering going into cryogenic stasis for the next four years just so I won’t get pi$$ed every time the media gives this idiot a softball question.
Theta gets my vote at this point.

What does this say about the possible “beta male” media if the male they’re adulating is the omega male?
Obama’s not an alpha male, in other words. For proof of that, witness the pathetic waffle wail.
S on January 2, 2009 at 3:52 PM
At this point it is well established that Obama is at once the media’s darling, and an empty suit. He’s already delegated all his cabinet department responsibilities away…I can’t wait to see what he does next?
I thought in one video I could actually see the strings!

“I’m gonna skip that.” Say what?
How are these “journalists” not embarassed at themselves?
Dubn8tr on January 2, 2009 at 3:54 PM
This reminds me of a photo I was “forced” to look at earlier this morning while scanning some wire service photos expecting to look at photos of Russell Crowe instead (got hooked into the slideshow by viewing first, one photo of Crowe and then the slideshow advanced and, presto, it reverted to images of Obama, from which I exited after the first two).
In those first photos of Obama, there it was, the photo of this unnamed guy on his surfboard in the Hawaiian waters just off the beach from where Obama was staying in Oahu, the lone surfer dude STANDING UP on his surfboard, craning is neck toward the Obama-vacation manse.
It ought to be a poster for the omega and beta males among us, including the wire service who seemed to take the photo ever so seriously.

I think Bambi’s steadily coming to the terrifying realization that he is about to assume pretty much the most difficult job in the world, and that he’s completely unprepared for it. He has no answers.
Because let’s face it, this guy’s skill set sadly inadequate for the job.
I’ll bet he’s not sleeping much at night.
On the bright side, he has plenty of corrupt and equally incompetent Democrats to advise him, so I’m sure everything will work out just peachy.
NoDonkey on January 2, 2009 at 3:58 PM
I can’t wait for the inevitable “Obama loses his friggin’ mind during a press conference” post later this year. Having been coddled and protected like a star high school athelete, he’s a ticking time bomb. The real world is going to expose his hollow, feeble self sooner than later.

Another beta/omega story about Obama (and food — interesting, ongoing theme) was his stop-off at a Farmers Market in Plant City, Florida last summer/early fall when campaigning in Florida.
Obama wanted a “peach milkshake” and when he asked for one, the lady working the Farmers Market responded that it was the Strawberry Farmers Market and they had strawberry milkshakes, not peach ones. Obama then asked for a dozen or so strawberry milkshakes (for him and his enterouge).
So easily swayed.
S on January 2, 2009 at 4:00 PM
^^ “…entourage…” NOT “enterouge”.

As long as Helen Thomas sets the tongue-bath tone of adulation during the pressers, THE ONE will be fine. It’s the reat of the nation that I worry about.
It is so obvious that Obama is not only above his pay grade but above his level of readiness or competence.

This reminds me of that MASH episode when Hawkeye and Trapper stirred things up with that General about getting an incubator.
General: “This is a press conference! The last thing I want to do is answer a lot of questions!”
Who’d of thought that that segment of that episode would be analogous of our future liberal POTUS?!
I’m sure they didn’t write it with that intent.;)

If people haven’t noticed his arrogance by now, I doubt they’ll ever notice. Anyone notice how he answers the questions of reporters? As he did during the debates, he says things like, “See, I know what you’re trying to do by asking such a question. You’re trying to get me to say… But I won’t. [Stump speech follows]. Hope… Change… You must not agree with such principles if you don’t believe in me.” Sadly, no one in the media calls him on it.

Sometimes, the next best place to be after the first is the last.
Sometimes, its better to be the last.
I dislike thinking of Obama as Omega–it’s a bit ominous, and I personally like Omega better than Alpha.

And yet.. y’all wish Bush had treated the media like that 90% of the time..
Reaps on January 3, 2009 at 1:13 AM
I will say this. He treats the media with the respect they deserve.
For years I’ve wondered why leaders don’t regularly snub the media elite calling them on their obvious biases,
“Well (insert “reporter” name here). Given your obvious political bias I can see why you would ask a question like that and in such a disrespectful manner as well. But I don’t respond to someone with an obvious agenda or your lack of courtesy. Next time as a question that is designed to get information that informs your viewers and ask your questions in a polite and respectful manner. Next.”
Seriously. Why do Conservative politician why do they tolerate these twits? They are so obviously scared of the media. It is pathetic. Here is the answer Conservative politicians should be giving reporters 70% plus of the time:
“That’s a good question which is why I’ve already posted an answer to it on my youtube channel. You did your research and watched my youtube channel before coming to this press conference didn’t you? Well, I’m not going to repeat myself. Someone on my staff will email you the youtube link that answers that question. Go do your research. Then come back with some good questions that haven’t already been answered. Next.”
Politicians that have even one Conservative bone in their body suck and sales and marketing. Need proof? What party is the minority in the House and Senate? What party has the presidency?
I don’t have much use for Obama but I give credit where it is due. He handles the press with the respect they deserve. Good for him.

So you’re personally going to be following, personally, those following already.
The reason there are ALPHA males is because there are too many Omegas and Betas and SOMEone has to be decisive. You won’t, personally, get that from any Omegas or Betas.
Meaning, the Omegas are not the ones to trust when you, personally, need to trust someone and you, personally, can’t decide or assert yourself. Personally, that is.
SERIOUSLY, I think Alphas result because there are just enough individuals among most species who don’t expect to be told what to do and who just do what needs to be done when/as it comes up. Everyone else then tends to follow those individuals.
There’s nothing “right” or “wrong” about following or leading — Alpha versus Omega and the Betas — and I didn’t intend to set up some competitive “I like the loser guys” discussion, but, the point is, among all mammals and most fish and insects, some individual males just act with greater adventure than others, and, there are less of them than there are those who don’t, so, the ones who are less adventurous tend to follow along after the few who are more adventurous. I prefer the adventurous.
S on January 3, 2009 at 4:57 PM
And I don’t PREFER to “think of Obama” “that way” (as the Omega) either, but, oftentimes thinking about reality can be intimidating, which is an indication of the Omega, not the Alpha. It takes courage and an adventurous mind to confront the truth, more often than not.
And that’s what tends to separate the leaders from the followers, in other words. It’s MORE EFFICIENT (and thus, benefits one’s survival as also those who depend on the one) to just confront a harsh reality and contend with it than to avoid doing both. Obama’s not an Alpha male, face the reality, be efficient about it, don’t waste any more time with what you don’t “prefer” to “think” and face what is instead. Saves time.
S on January 3, 2009 at 5:00 PM
Think back to that fictional scene in PLANET OF THE APES, where the three surviving astronauts are in their little inflated rowboat on that inland lake just after crashlanding there.
The ALPHA male (performed by Charlton Heston) contends with the one Beta male and the other Omega male and after the two latter males moan and get misty a bit, Alpha Heston says, “so now there’s no going back, we’re here to stay, and everyone who you ever knew is dead and buried. It’s all dust.”
He’s just coming to grips faster with reality than the other two, and thus, is more likely to survive, all things being equal. Notice who everyone runs after, also, throughout the rest of the film.
