This reminds me of Jessse Jackson's pathetic press conference after his comments about Obama.
"Blah, blah, Montgomery, Blah, blah, Martin Luther King, Blah, blah, Bull Connor,Blah, blah, segregation, Blah, blah.

How stoopid does he think the public is?

"Roland Burris can stand on his own, but the US Senate appears unwilling to let him. He is a public servant with a large constituency, knows civil rights, the law, money and banking. He is exactly what the US Senate and Congress needs." So says Gracie.

The problem is, the more one looks into Mr. Burris, the less accurate your statement about his qualifications is. Shall we talk about civil rights? Mr. Burris pushed for the continued prosecution of a man for rape and murder, seeking to have him executed. However, there was enough evidence to call the prosecution into question - including DNA. Burris wasn't having any of that - he was running for governor, and wanted an execution to show that he was tough on crime state Attorney General, and he would be a great governor. If it was such an iron-clad case, why did his staff try to get him to drop[ the prosecution, and why did an assistant AG quit rather than railroad an innocent man to the death chamber? Mike Nifong could have taken lessons from Burris.

The people of Illinois seem to have agreed - he lost three gubernatorial attempts. I can't speak for you, but someone who is willing to execute someone for a crime he didn't commit in order to advance his political campaign is not someone I consider senate material. Note that the PBS News Hour's Ray Suarez, nice mouthpiece that he is for the Democratic party, didn't bother to ask Mr. Burris anything about that little episode. It wouldn't be polite to ask such questions - unless, of course, you really do care about civil rights.

Any politician that refuses to stand on their own merits and, instead, plays the race card, or any other card, does not deserve the office. Get rid of him.

Roland Burris can stand on his own, but the US Senate appears unwilling to let him. He is a public servant with a large constituency, knows civil rights, the law, money and banking. He is exactly what the US Senate and Congress needs. The rest of the Senators should cross their legs so that no one can see how little they bring to the table in knowledge and experience. Senator Burris is a perfect fit for the 2 years remaining in the term. Yes, this is a completely legal move on Blagojevich's part and now it is his IL Secretary of State and the US Senate who will not be fulfilling their duties and adhering to their responsibilities. The IL Secretary of State Jesse White will be overruled for his dereliction of duty and Senator Burris will file suit against US Senate if they refuse to seat him. Good.

An empty suit leaves empty seat in Illinois.

A clever dude, with empty account, wants to sell empty seat.

A sober Fitz messes with clever dude.

Said clever dude outfoxes empty suit.

End result “An empty suit for an empty seat” for Illinois.

Media gets a title right for a leftie fiasco, exceptionally.

[...] It seems Bobby Rush is suddenly a fan of Blago. Bobby Rush, back for a bottom-feeding encore after yesterday’s bravura performance at the presser. Only a neo-segregationist would oppose the Senate’s only black member, says a guy who himself endorsed a white Democrat in the Senate primary four years ago over his old nemesis, Barack Obama. He called Blago’s actions “heinous” on December 9th, and agreed with Democratic consensus that he shouldn’t make the appointment before instantly reversing himself yesterday in the interests of racial solidarity. Obama has political capital to spare and multiple reasons here to spend it — tactically, to give Senate Democrats cover and burnish his credentials as the post-racial president, and personally, given his long rivalry with Rush. He should step up and lay this turd out. He’d have plenty of support based on early indications. [...]

OK, so Obama was the only designated black Senator. Big deal, not. If there were interested and prepared black candidates, they have as good a chance as any getting elected.

Consider two things about the Black Caucus. First, they are racially biased, prejudiced, and discriminatory. They adamantly refuse anyone "not black" to join their caucus. Second, no one can adamantly claim or prove that the "white" Senators don't have African blood mixed in their lineage somewhere up the line.
