Awww: Palin’s a grandma

posted at 7:10 pm on December 29, 2008 by Allahpundit

Her first grandkid. Or, if you’re an Atlantic reader, her second, the first having been born to the same woman, er, eight months ago.

Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, gave birth on Sunday to a healthy 7 lb., 4 oz., baby boy in Palmer, Alaska.

“We think it’s wonderful,” said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, who confirmed the news. “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”…

Bristol Palin is currently residing in Wasilla and completing her high-school diploma through correspondence courses.

Johnston is studying to become an electrician. He told the Associated Press in October that he and fiancée Bristol plan to wed in 2009 and raise the child together.

I know there’s some Keith Olbermann special comment material buried in here somewhere, probably having to do with illegal drugs. Can’t wait! Exit question: Anyone want to try to guess the name? You’ll find it at the link up top; all I’ll say by way of a hint is that it’s very much in keeping with the ‘Cuda’s naming conventions. Feel free to use this if you need help.

Update: Commenters are wondering whether Sullivan will accuse Palin of giving birth to this one herself.

I had two friends join me for Christmas this year. One was a Persian girl named Parisa and one was an Indian girl named Rajeshwari.

Parisa would immediately get called Theresa but people caught on once we said, “No, Parisa…with a P.”.

No one ever figured out Rajeshwari’s name so she went by Raji that night (which isn’t too bad since that’s her nickname anyway).

I’ve never had any trouble saying her name (though, I’m sure I say an Anglicized version of her name just as she said a Tamilian version of mine). :)

I think Mr. Jindal would be just fine if he went by his real first name, but, he probably doesn’t want to waste time doing the “Wait! How do you pronounce that again?” game.

Tailgunner?

I give up. Is the baby half white/half Alaskan? Or something? Has the baby said “Yes We Can!” yet?

And in other news, the economy is getting so bad according to Lester Holt on NBC that a fat guy (who’s obviously spend too much time at the QuickieMart) with diabetes can’t afford his insulin because he has to buy clothes for his kids. He also can’t afford soap and shampoo… and he can’t afford to go on a diet to help with his diabetes and high blood pressure. He’s also running low on cookies, cake, beer and assorted other snacks. His only hope is a bailout.
