Video: Michelle rips Bush for revoked pardon, subprime crisis

posted at 1:37 pm on December 26, 2008 by Allahpundit

Ten minutes from Fox & Friends this morning, the first half of which is spent curtsying to Queen Caroline and paying final tribute to Bush’s “better national security through open borders” policy. Skip ahead to 6:00 for the meat of it, a back and forth on the disgraceful, now-rescinded Toussie pardon. Did you know that he’s been out of prison for years now? Or that he pled guilty, freely and fairly, to the charges against him? Or that there’s a class-action suit with 400 plaintiffs stemming from his mortgage chicanery still pending against him in federal court? Or that normal protocol meant his pardon shouldn’t even have been considered until next year? Or the fact that his dad dropped $28,500 on the RNC just eight months ago, a fact discoverable via a routine search on Open Secrets? Somehow this was all either unknown or irrelevant to the White House until after the pardon was issued. No wonder 75 percent say they won’t miss Dubya. I wonder if the boss is one of them.

The obvious, yet somehow tragically unasked exit question: Would she support a pardon for Ramos and Compean? Hmmm.

The obvious, yet somehow tragically unasked exit question: Would she support a pardon for Ramos and Compean? Hmmm.

In spirit, I wish Ramos and Compean would be pardoned or at least received some deep considerations thrown their way during sentencing. Unfortunately, that would open up a floodgate of equally tenuous requests with equally compelling arguments.

The guys screwed themselves with their cover up. All of us understand what they were doing for this country. But you just have greater accountability when you have that much authority. Our policing agencies cannot send out autonomous robocops. Policing of the police and all law enforcement is dirty work…but somebody has to do it.

So long GWB. Thanks for the efforts. No thanks for not explaining yourself much better to the country you were running.

Bush is out of office in about three weeks. Just shake his hand, pat him on the back, tell him ‘good job Brownie’, and send him off into retirement.

The zero, on the other hand, is going to be a disaster.

I don’t mean to be a whiner, but when I read Allah’s posts, it’s like walking into the middle of a lengthy complicated conversation, having no background whatsoever, being forced to click ten links to read 100 stories before finally coming back to the post here just to have any idea what the post is about!

Or maybe I’m just an idiot.

artist on December 26, 2008 at 1:51 PM

Frankly, it would be something Jorge Boosh didn’t have the stones to do, so I’d applaud Osama Obama if he did. Even a none-too-bright, venal leftard can do things right once in a while. If he pardons them….

Of course Boosh should have told “mah good friend” Johnny Sutton to drop the illegal actions and lies he employed to railroad them…if he had, none of this would be necessary. Now, I’m convinced ol’ Jorge should have their names tattooed on his forehead, and should be placed in solitary confinement as long as they sit in cells.

Why ask Michelle? It’s clear from the screaming silence of her blog and public appearances that she doesn’t give a happy damn about these two men.

MrScribbler on December 26, 2008 at 2:10 PM

The guys screwed themselves with their cover up.

The Race Card on December 26, 2008 at 1:48 PM

Yeah, they did try to cover up but it was mostly administrative. The bottom line is that they are both doing about 10 years in solitary for shooting a drug smuggler (who may have been about to shoot them) in the ass. This might have been worth a suspension or even a loss of job but the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. I think that the time served is more than ample. I am also sure that this case makes it very difficult for current border patrol agents to do their jobs effectively.

Michelle Malkin’s video clips are the high point of today. The conservative ladies did a very good job this year–Michelle, Laura Ingraham, Tammy Bruce, Sarah Palin.
***
Why would President Bush pardon this creep and leave Ramos and Campeon in prison? The presidential (and state governor’s) pardons were intended to correct miscarriages of justice–not to pay back political cronies.
***
The video background looked like Frisco–I hope Michelle made it back O.K. from her visit to Sodom and Gomorrah!

I still can’t believe that the Bush Administration, John McCain and the Republicans in Congress are largely taking the hit for the economic crisis that the absolutely worthless, corrupt and incompetent Democrat Party caused.

Any holdovers from the Bush years at the RNC should be immediately shown the door.

They can go find employment guarding harems.

“Turn the other cheek” really works in politics. It gets you 25% approval ratings and status as a minority party, while the idiots, mutineers and fecal matter encrusted perverts (e.g. Barney Frank) who caused all of our problems, are now in charge of “fixing” them.

Great news.

NoDonkey on December 26, 2008 at 2:28 PM

Watching the video, I’m surprised that Michelle doesn’t have all the information when asked about the pardon being revoked. Link to

Pardon Power

Ulysses S. Grant’s first clemency decision, on his third day in office, was to revoke two pardons granted by Andrew Johnson. Both men challenged Grant’s power to do so, and lost their case in federal court.

And let me add that anyone who believes that a drug smuggler would be hauling the quantity of drugs that this guy was without a gun is just kidding themselves. R and C should have reported the shooting immediately and played everything by the book, but to imprison them for not doing so was beyond ludicrous. They’ve already suffered far more than most real criminals do for much more serious crimes. It’s time to let them go. Unfortunately, neither Bush nor Obama will do the right thing.

NoDonkey, the Republican Party’s problems don’t begin and end with Bush I’m afraid:

Republican National Committee chair candidate Chip Saltsman’s Christmas greeting to committee members includes a music CD with lyrics from a song called “Barack the Magic Negro,” first played on Rush Limbaugh’s popular radio show. …

The CD, called “We Hate the USA,” lampoons liberals with such songs as “John Edwards’ Poverty Tour,” “Wright place, wrong pastor,” “Love Client #9,” “Ivory and Ebony” and “The Star Spanglish banner.” Several of the track titles, including “Barack the Magic Negro,” are written in bold font.

It’s not a coincidence that the GOP doesn’t appeal to minorities.

terryannonline on December 26, 2008 at 3:41 PM

terryannonline, it’s the fact that a candidate for RNC chair thinks Limbaugh isn’t a liability when it comes to broadening the party’s appeal to minorities that’s the problem. Stupid jokes about the “Star-Spanglish Banner” don’t help.

Geochelone on December 26, 2008 at 3:54 PM

terryannonline, Saltsman may only be a candidate but the damage is already done in terms of bad publicity being generated for the GOP. Unnecessarily pissing people off (in this case, minorities) is always bad politics.

Michelle’s criticisms of GW proves that Conservatives

No personal attacks, and at least proposing positive solutions. I had my disagreements with GW, but in the overall picture, the man has done good and succeeded.

Crap. Michelle and Sarah are conservatives (Sarah leans libertarian). Laura is a Catholic, which makes her conservative traits more religious rather than secular.

And Tammy Bruce is no conservative, as Buckaroo pointed out earlier. It may take awhile but the time will come when people realize that deviant sex devotees are fundamentally incapable of being conservative. At best, they can occupy the “anything goes privacy tent” but there is nothing conservative about homosexual activity.

Laura really should find another guest host before the rumors get started.

Since when did “punishment fit the crime” become a medium? There is no justice in America because America has lost it’s soul – “Liberty” is dead.

This case about politics, not justice. And that’s pretty much what America has become all about as well – “politics”!

These guys didn’t/don’t deserve this – period! But then, like William Money says in “Unforgiven”, “Deserve’s got nothing to do with it.”

You make things so easy.

I’m sure you were front and center ripping the L.A. Times, when it was one of theiropinion pieces that referred to Mr. Obama as “Barack the Magic Negro.” I’M SURE.

And that would be what the Paul Shanklin parody on that cd refers to.

If you bothered to, you know, listen to your opposition, as opposed to assuming that you have any clue what you’re talking about, you’d have known that.

Today’s homework: look up the words “context” and “tool” in the dictionary.

You need to learn and memorize the definition of the former.

And the latter describes you perfectly.

ah no, the reason is political correctness…old KKK Kleagle Byrd can say white n***er, and its OK…but let a republican say Strom Thurmond was a good guy…and its RACISM….

we live in an orwellian world..

wholly disagree — “the joke is the joke. if i can’t tell a black joke in oakland, then i can’t tell it anywhere. if i can’t tell a beaner joke in east l.a., then i can’t tell it anywhere.” — Carlos Mencia [paraphrased]

Hey, I appear NOBODY using racially charged jokes. However, there’s a difference. For example, I’m Hispanic. I’m not going react the same way to George Lopez or Carlos Mencia making joke about Hispanic culture the same way I would if a non-Hispanic making jokes about Hispanics. That’s just the way it is.

Meant to write:

Hey, I prefer NOBODY using racially charged jokes.

Bush can’t win.

If he lets the pardon stand, he gets criticized.

And,

when he revokes the pardon, he gets criticized.

I’ll say it again: I prefer that NOBODY used racially charged language. However, saying that there’s NO difference between people of certain ethnic background/culture saying something about their own ethnic background/culture is exact same as someone outside the culture saying it is absurd. It’s like liberals trying to say that there’s really no differences between men and women. Yes, there are differences.

terryannonline on December 26, 2008 at 6:24 PM

Your boss is a babe, and witty, “Bush infrastructure” indeed. Snort.
She also knows that this pardon idiocy is a natural by-product of “government bureaucracy”: Power (mostly) unchecked. It isn’t that they want to do harm. It’s just that, … well, “Them’s the rules.”
Bush is culpable because he has used his Presidency to empower the Bureaucracy. But, as David Kahane says, “He’s either the biggest chump or the best Christian in the country.” I’m with the latter.

um, no it’s not — unless u subscribe to “identiy politics uber alles” like apparently u do — that sort of logic gives us actual absurdities like, for example, p. diddy saying “n__r” and not being sanctioned for it but ANYONE that happens to belong to the ~89% of America that DOESN”T share his skin pigmentation CAN’T say it w/o essentially hellfire raining down upon them …

if Bush steps to the left, he gets criticized.

If He steps to the right, he gets criticized.

Sorry we are just going to have disagree. You can call it “identity politics” all you want. But every group (not just races or cultures) have certain codes and boundaries. Would I like everyone to be treated exactly the same and fair? Would I like it if what is out of bounds for one group to be out of bounds for everyone? Yes and Yes. But it’s more complex than that, unfortunately.

terryannonline on December 26, 2008 at 7:00 PM

again, if he had NEVER CONSIDERED THE PARDON IN THE FIRST PLACE no intellectually honest person could nor would have criticized him. it’s his actual granting of it that’s the issue, i give him 1/2 a cheer for rescinding it as a semi-corrective measure …

Buckaroo on December 26, 2008 at 7:00 PM

no, it’s not. i don’t give a rip about some group’s internal “codes and boundaries” — you play by society’s rules. the moment we as society start making exceptions to that, well, then we get what we deserve with the balkanization and perpetual victimhood of various IDENTITY groups …

So if tomorrow the global community decided to enact a new world society, would you accuse the Americans that don’t want to join the new world as “balkanizing” the world?

No, ‘Republicans’ like you are more interested in selling out than winning elections. Try looking up the word ‘principles’ in the dictionary, Terrye. Then, try developing some before you take potshots at someone like Michelle.

People like you stuck us with McCain. He stunk from day one, but you guys nominated him anyway. He lost. You blew it. Quit trying to blame the people who saw what was coming months ago.

I’ll give one more example. Isn’t there a slang word that is used to refer U.S. Marines. It’s not offensive if a Marine uses the word but isn’t seen as offensive if someone who’s not a Marine uses it?

Sorry but I think Rush Limbaugh is a shock jock. He likes to say outlandish things for the sake of being outrageous. Just look at the “Controversy” section of his Wiki and you can see that he crosses the line a lot.

terryannonline on December 26, 2008 at 5:03 PM

Terry, you should know better. Wikipedia is a leftist invention, controlled by leftists up and down the ladder. To quote that space for Rush Limbaugh is about as logical as quoting a DU commenter about Rush.

Your sourcing needs an upgrade.

“Would she support a pardon for Ramos and Compean? Hmmm.”
I would be surprised and dismayed if she was against it.
If Maliki can consider pardoning the shoe-thrower and Dubya can pardon the waste of skin here, (Toussie?), then what’s keeping him from it aside from Johnny Sutton’s ‘integrity’ and the open borders make us more secure strategy?
And yet, the NAU elephant is still invisible to some people.
Amazing.

Christine on December 26, 2008 at 8:29 PM

I’ve followed Ramos/Compean since it happened and I’m confident Bush will not grant them a pardon. He rarely commutes sentences, and he is in bed with Mexico. He is far too sympathetic to the plight of the poor desert wandering pregnant woman looking for a better world. To hell with corruption, crime and disease, right?

Let me ‘splain you someteen:

Not long ago there was a tour bus crash in Mexico. There were two buses, one rolled down the cliff, the other didn’t. A coworker of mine knows this well because his mother was on the bus that didn’t crash. Several people died, others wre hospitalized in Mexico with major injuries. Here’s the fun part: the hospital called the employer of the passengers (A Texas school district) and said (I paraphrase): “Everyone at the hospital is fine. But we aren’t going to operate or start setting any bones until we get some money wired to us.” I think the amount ended up to be around $30k.

My blood boiled when I heard this story, and it is 100% true. This is pure extortion: we paid them the money while about 10% of Mexico’s population is leeching off of our medical system? And GWB wants to leave the border alone and make nicey nice with Mexico?

Screw him and that stubborn horse he rode in on. Ramos & Compean deserve better, but it will probably not happen until Obama get’s the chance. (I hear Emmanuel is sympathetic to the case).
