Merry Christmas!

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
– Luke 2:9-14
Classic. This is another Christmas tradition in our family.
Either way you celebrate the holidays, may they be filled with joy and love.

Merry Christmas to everyone here and our wonderful troops who can’t be with their families today.
Just a TV commercial, but I still like it.

I agree with your outlook. What you need to do is prepare. Get another citizenship. Start moving money out of the country, while you still can. If you can, earn alternative sources of income that cannot easily be traced by the IRS goons. It goes without saying, buy guns and put them somewhere easily accessible but out sight from Obama’s goons.
And on top of that, enjoy Christmas this year, it may be the last one you get to celebrate. Make the most of it while you can.

Merry Christmas to all! My girlfriend loves A Christmas Story and plays it all damn day. I prefer Sim’s A Christmas Carol. While its underlying theme seems rather socialistic, Sim’s performance and the overall feel of the film make it a classic.

Christmas at my house is always at least six or seven times more pleasant than anywhere else. We start drinking early. And while everyone else is seeing only one Santa Claus, we’ll be seeing six or seven.

Merry Christmas to everyone. God Bless our troops and their families. May they soon be reunited with their loved ones.
Well, I managed once again to keep a tradition that I never intentionally started. That is, at least one gift is a huge disappointment to my daughter. Seventeen and hard to please, every year there is one or more gifts that fail to meet her expectations. I told her that next year, there will be one gift, a card holding the money I would normally spend.
That being said, it was a happy day. We are together, safe and able to have some nice gifts, a delicious meal and time with friends and family.

Yeah, such a lovely company here (with a few exceptions, from time to time, of course).
And here: Portinari Triptych by Hugo van der Goes can be found at this site (learned scholars tell us that the flowers at the bottom of the centerpiece present the first example of still-life in western iconography):

And no, I am not a believer. But I am of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Bach cantatas, Michelangelo….

And to all the HotAir readers, I look forward to a year filled with Obama and Rahm Emanuel calling the shots in the White House! Should be a great 2009!
ericdondero,
A little advice, if you stay quite, keep your head down and don’t make any waves, we may not come for you. But if you keep spouting off like that…
Tom_Shipley on December 25, 2008 at 8:12 AM
Firs of all, I have read many of your posts. There was a few that made sense. You can look forward to a year with a fraud Terrorist and his freak side kick. That is your prerogative. I will never accept The One as POTUS. Only as a American Joke. To think of what they will do to the White House. More than likely Punch Bowls of Cocaine. I tell you one thing, try and come after me. You or whom ever does. Will not walk a way alive. That is the day when I will not resist. I will forget some laws. You can suck off if you think I will keep my head down. I hold my head up high. And I see things that others don’t. You drink to much kool-aid. Then you think you can make a threat to someone who is saying how they feel. How dare you. We will be coming after YOU!
sheebe on December 25, 2008 at 4:16 PM
Sooner or latter they will come for them. And for you too Tom_Shipley if you keep trying so hard to rile them up.

Merry Christmas to one and all, but especially to our wonderful troops and their families!
As for the New Year and the beginning of The One’s administration, remember what the Christmas angel said to the shepherds and what Ronaldus Magnus quoted to us, too: “Be not afraid.”

Wrong. It’s about personal reformation, which incidentally is part of the Christmas message–prepare for the Lord’s second coming.

Merry Christmas!
Thou who wast rich beyond all splendour,
All for love’s sake becamest poor;
Thrones for a manger didst surrender,
Sapphire-paved courts for stable floor.
Thou who wast rich beyond all splendour,
All for love’s sake becomes poor.
Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love’s sake becamest man;
Stooping so low, but sinners raising
Heavenwards by thine eternal plan.
Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love’s sake becamest man.
Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Saviour and King, we worship thee.
Emmanuel, within us dwelling,
Make us what thou wouldst have us be.
Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Saviour and King, we worship thee.
“though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor”
~2 Corinthians 8:9

Merry Christmas to all. It’s my hope this Christmas day that all believers remember the reason for the season.
As for Ed’s movies – both are highly recommended and are part of our families Christmas viewing.
I want to wish a special Merry Christmas to Kevin E. – a Navy Corpsman attached to a Marine Unit in Iraq who is spending his first Christmas away from home.

Merry Christmas to HotAir from a beachhouse on Monterrey Bay, CA. Lousy weather. Pretty cool with the waves out the window though.
Hey, the movie “The Nativity” I whipped out and watched on my laptop on a plane last year when the beta-male next to me started watching “Brokeback Mountain”. Of course I tilted my laptop a little towards him so he could watch Jesus’s Mom and Dad flee before Herod’s goons could get the Messiah. Yah, like that was gonna happen.
The war goes on. It wasn’t arguing on behalf of apartment owners’ rights NOT to rent to gay couples in front of the Supreme Court, but I did my valiant part.
My eyes watered when they showed the baby Jesus in the manger. It sure all ties together that Jesus would be placed in a manger, his body in a place where animals eat food. Afterall, the lowly creatures we are, we still get to partake in the Sacrifice of the Lamb through the Eucharist, the Bread of Life.
Keep up the good fight in 2009.

I don’t bash gays Snark, in fact I don’t know anybody that does. I do know some people that point out a sin when they see it and not allow friends to rationalize certain behaviors. I would expect my friends to do the same.
Today is not about me, and it’s not about you. Give it a rest. I’m in CA right now. I know who the intolerant ones are, and they are not the Christians, Jews, or Muslims that are causing trouble here.

Merry Christmas from England, and prayers for all the troops from the UK, the US and elsewhere who can’t be with their families; including my brother, who’s in Afghanistan.
A little story I’d like to share: on Monday I went for a pre-Christmas meal in an Indian restaurant here in Bath. Like most ‘Indian’ restaurants in the UK it’s actually run by Bangladeshis, who are Muslims.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated, and the centrepiece was a tree; and on top of the tree was … a star.
So much for political correctness!
