Video: Joe the Plumber laughs at reporter’s claim that media wasn’t stumping for anyone

Skip ahead to 2:10 if you’re pressed for time. The spontaneity of it proves its sincerity, but he’s awfully quick to back down. Which, given who’s making the claim, maybe he shouldn’t have been.
I’m giving you the full clip rather than the Newsbusters version so that you can hear him knock McCain for supporting amnesty at the beginning. To repeat the question I posed yesterday, does he know that Sarah “The Real Deal” Palin supports it too?

Who is this deep voiced woman interviewing Joe?
Sugar Land on December 23, 2008 at 4:08 PM
What a laff.
This “reporter” actually interrupted the interview to ask why Joe was questioning his “journatistic integrity”
It’s beyond stunning to witness the regard these “journalists” have for themselves.
Joe should have said that he has the same amount of respect for journalists as he does for the objects of his previous employment…..toilets.

“How dare you cast aspersions on my journalistic integrity, prole!?”
Jim62sch on December 23, 2008 at 4:10 PM
It was hilarious. I would have smacked Roberts’ “journalistic integrity” to his face. Joe shouldn’t have backed down.
As for Palin, she better start reading Michelle Malkin’s blog and other conservative blogs to get an idea about how we feel about amnesty. She might have been spewing McCain talking points. I don’t know if Alaska has this problem with illegal immigration, but she should read up on it.
Illegal immigration got us three of the five men that were convicted yesterday for wanting to kill our service men and women at a fort here in NJ.

Yeah, I loved Robert’s assertion that a personal relationship would be necessary in order to cast aspersions. All you have to do is watch them on the television for thirty seconds to recognize lapdogs for what they are. I don’t have to be on intimate terms with the jackass.

end of October, i went to a debate between Jonah Goldberg and Peter Beinart.
Beinart made the claim that the media was “maybe a little soft on Obama”, the crowd without hesitation busted out laughing at him, it was awesome. Even Beinart smirked and realized he had nothing to come back with, then Goldberg went in for the kill.

So your not supposed to question the integrity of journalist , why not? Are they “more equal” then others ?

the_nile on December 23, 2008 at 4:16 PM
There truly was no decent candidate for president this year. McCain was badly flawed over amnesty and his enchantment with Ted Kennedy, and Obama was a tax and spend liberal.
I understand Joe’s position. Maybe next time we will have a decent choice.
P.S. I thought the Palin chice was a bonehead move. She didn’t seem to me to be a serious candidate. It was more a sideshow like Dan Quaile.

Did anyone ever question B Hussein Obama as in depth on either of his books? (That he may or may not have written)
hawkdriver on December 23, 2008 at 4:21 PM
Perhaps it was that the reporter was only interested in Joe’s take on McCain that led him to question his integrity.

Guess he still hasn’t figured out that she was McCain’s VP, not the other way around.
Frankly, I don’t know what her position is on amnesty, but if she is against it, I wouldn’t expect her to make an issue of it during the campaign. And if she’s for it? Well, in 2012, it won’t matter anyway. Amnesty will already be in place, courtesy of Obama and the Democrat congress.

As to the backing down. He needs to practice dealing with political confrontation. He did well with Obama, but that’s just easy.
MirCat on December 23, 2008 at 4:26 PM
I think most likely Joe doesn’t ever watch CNN, had no idea who this “journalist” was (I sure don’t) and pulled back just on the off chance that maybe he might be a lone rational voice on CNN. A smart move on Joe’s part. But the laugh was priceless! I continue to be impressed by how well he articulates himself. Much better than the ums and ahs of Barry Omanboobs.
ctmom on December 23, 2008 at 4:26 PM
Sarah Palin isn’t a sideshow, and neither was Dan Quayle.
If Barack Obama had been a Republican, the MSM and the late night talk shows would have painted him as the unaccomplished empty suit he really is, with a side order of Uncle Tom smears to boot.
It’s all about what letter comes after your name, and unfortunately few Republicans are as skilled as Ronald Reagan was at short-circuiting the relentless character assassinations that come with the territory of being a conservative seeking high office.

fivefeetoffury on December 23, 2008 at 4:28 PM
The “news” this election has only been about smearing people that the journalists don’t know personally or have any facts on. But Joe isn’t a professional journalist , so we got to hold him to a higher standard.
And when Joe got unfairly targeted by those professional journalists, he just got to accept it as the name of the game…

I can’t yet see a Republican candidate with the juice to get elected next go round. Something will have to shake loose in the next 4 years. It takes a real likeable personality to win. George W. Bush was a likeable guy, and so was Obama and Clinton. Kerry was Lerch and McCain was a pain in the ass. Palin is likeable, but not Presidential. I hope a superstar will come out in the next year or two. Jendal could be the guy, but I doubt it. Huckaby is likeable, but a little too folksey, and Rudy is too much a one trick pony. We will see what bubbles to the top next go round. As of now, I can’t see a winner on the radar screen.

Palin conformed to McCain’s ‘08 platform ticket, but his amnesty for illegals may not have been Palin’s favorite choice, and may not be what she pursues in her future efforts to facilitate the processing of legal immigrants with citizenship.
TIME WILL TELL. The New Year won’t be long in coming, but will seem to last forever as this entire campaign was going full steam full throttle since before last Christmas. So give the acrimony a couple days break!
John Roberts is one of many who feasted without apology on the flesh of public figures, and not satisfied to consume conservative politicians, ate the flesh of any person daring to express an INDEPENDENT opinion. This John, while lauding his own public status, takes offense at someone’s light-hearted chuckle at John’s imperfection. This John deigns fair play while again attacking Mr. W, perpetuating the very feeding on human flesh that John presumes himself above such participation. Joe expressed an opinion. The media put it on the air; Joe was not the director nor the executive producer making that decision. Joe was not a politician, nor a journalist, just an All American private citizen off the street.
Tra-la-la. Mr. Wurzelbacher has no problem getting past other people’s hang-ups. Merry Christmas to Joe the Plumber!

joey24007 on December 23, 2008 at 4:49 PM
The reporter is John Roberts, formerly known as JJ Roberts from Canada. Speaking of journalistic integrity, Roberts has plenty of experience as a DJ on radio and entertainment reporter (sort of like Entertainment tonight). With that kind of experience, JJ believes he should be taken seriously (sort of like Princess Caroline being considered seriously for the senate). In fact he is no more qualified as a journalist than Joe the plumber. But do you all notice how he purposely lowers his voice to sound more credible. :)
This is JJ’s career high point: “In 1979, he branched out from his music personality work to function as an entertainment reporter.”

I don’t think Joe backed down. He laughed at Roberts saying “I don’t stump for anyone, I’m a journalist.” He was laughing at the implication that being a journalist means he doesn’t stump for anyone, as the headline says accurately. From her Unavision interview…
Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?
No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They’ve got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.
To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

CNN’s John Roberts: Palin Might Neglect Her Disabled Infant?
CNN’s John Roberts, after briefly alluding to the issue of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s experience he called into question earlier on Friday’s Newsroom program, asked correspondent Dana Bash about how the Alaska governor’s newborn son with Down’s syndrome might be affected if she were elected:
CNN’s facade of fairness totally out the window as its John Roberts refers to Democrats as ‘We’
You know, this almost looks like what happened in 2004 where the Bush campaign was very, very good at defining John Kerry in their own terms, and he was on the defensive, and he was always trying to fight back against them.
