Video: Fox News says goodbye to Brit Hume

He’s not leaving the network, just the anchor gig, but it’s still the end of an era. Like I said in July when the news first broke:
I’m always surprised by how much respect Hume commands among conservatives, not because he doesn’t deserve it but because you’d think he’d be drowned out by the O’Reilly and Hannity megaphones. Not so; in my conversations with people, as genial, gentlemanly conservative journalists go, he’s second in esteem to no one but … Tony Snow, actually. Where are Fox viewers going to get their nightly shot of gravitas now?
I bet the comments to this post will bear me out. Here’s the last few minutes from tonight’s show, featuring cameos from both Presidents Bush, among others.

I’m grateful that Brit Hume will continue to work in some capacity with Fox because I have really enjoyed watching him. I have great respect for Brit Hume. I agree with many of the very thoughtful and positive things that have been said here about him. He truly is a class act. God Bless you Brit and I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

You knew with Brit Hume you were going to get both sides of the story, as opposed to the hit jobs so common on the alphabet networks. Brit was honest and unassuming. I hope Fox continues to set the standard for being fair with his guidance.
Merry Christmas Brit.

I will miss Brit Hume quite a lot. FOX will be even less worth watching, though there’s still Chris Wallace.

I’ll never forget Brit Hume’s look at Bill Kristol on FNS when Bill was talking up about McCain should pick Palin. Brit gave a look like “get a hold of yourself Bill”. Ah, the Cuda has that affect on people.
I will definitely miss him. He wasn’t biased like the other anchors, and was pretty level-headed.
They better not lose Krauthammer though.

Getting Glenn Beck may make up some of the loss of Hume.

If I was to simply imagine what a news anchor should be in looks, talk, demeanor, style, Brit Hume would be the closest to that image of those out there plus other journalistss who are not necessarily anchors.

Brit Hume..A good DOOD man.
Glad you’ll still be around in some capacity.
As a ’senior analyst’, that should come with some pretty fun ‘take the gloves off’ stuff. Can’t wait.
