Role in the Lewis Libby trial

A report in The Washington Post[citation needed] that Mitchell was an original recipient of the leak of Valerie Plame’s identity led to her being questioned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the case. While Mitchell never appeared before the grand jury in the indictment or in the trial of Lewis Libby, she was on the subpoena list as a person of interest. In October 2003, on the Capitol Report, Mitchell made a statement which Libby’s defense construed to mean that it was widely known among journalists that Joe Wilson’s wife was in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), a statement that she later recanted.[citation needed]
MURRAY: And the second question is: Do we have any idea how widely known it was in Washington that Joe Wilson’s wife worked for the CIA?

MITCHELL: It was widely known amongst those of us who cover the intelligence community and who were actively engaged in trying to track down who among the foreign service community was the envoy to Niger. But frankly I wasn’t aware of her actual role at the CIA and the fact that she had a covert role involving weapons of mass destruction, not until Bob Novak wrote it.

As a reporter, Mitchell has covered the case without acknowledging her own involvement. As a guest on Don Imus’s radio program, Mitchell answered a number of his questions about the case and her involvement. She jokingly called the sharp-tongued radio personality her “personal terrorist”.[citation n

Mitchell: I have been trying to figure out “what-the-heck” I was talking about, frankly. There is confusion because I am confused.

Oh and all of them: Democrats.

I can pontificate about the issues.

A leader needs more than knowledge of issues. They need to be able to look at the given options and choose the best solution. They also need to be able to discern when the best solution hasn’t been presented yet and push for better answers. And, perhaps most importantly, they need to know when there is no solution and they should stay the heck out of it.

I can memorize every detail of a sculptor’s handbook but I still won’t be able to carve the David out of stone.

As for Caroline, I will accept her as soon as she drives a car off a bridge and leaves a young, male campaign worker inside to die, then swims back to land to shower, get a good night’s sleep, consult with her handlers and then calls 911.

If it was good enough for Teddy….

I agree, she doesn’t seem to have the same qualifications as her uncle Teddy. For a Kennedy Democrat, you must really do something spectacular to keep your senate seat. Something to be proud of, I’m sure. What has she done? Who is she? Some social butterfly flitting from benefit to benefit. Some qualifications.
