Look at this way — given the long history of corruption involving the Democratic Party, at all levels, and at all times, it is newsworthy when a Republican is implicated in a scandal.

Mr. D on December 21, 2008 at 11:29 AM

Actually, the media has made a very similar argument before. Namely, since the Left doesn't have any moral values, it isn't a big deal when member of the Left do something like cheat on their spouses, taxes, etc.

Of course this isn't true, the Left's moral views are somewhat odd, but they do most certainly exist - restrain "sexist" views, reduce/recycle/reuse, etc.

It would be intriguing to see a media that would go after Bill Clinton for seducing an underling or Al Gore for being an energy hog.

Once upon a time there was a guy named Jim Rhodes(R) from SE Ohio and he was villified for Kent State ….he begat Dick Celeste (d),

sven10077 on December 21, 2008 at 7:29 PM

Just a bit of supplemental history:

Before Jim Rhodes "begat" Dick Celeste, he begat John Gilligan(D) (who quite literally begat daughter, and KS Gov., Kathleen Sebelius). Gilligan's most notable "achievement" may well have been championing a mental health "bill of rights," the most visible effect of which was to liberate vast numbers of mentally ill patients from Ohio institutions to dwell happily (if helplessly and homelessly) on Ohio's streets.

After laying out one term, Rhodes successfully challenged the Ohio Constitution's two-term gubernatorial limit (the Ohio Supremes interpreted the limit to mean two consecutive terms) and Gilligan, returning to the Statehouse for two more terms beginning in 1975.

Hey BuckeyeSam, how about helping to rebuild the GOP in Ohio? I grew up in Ohio, and on election day, I was one of the New York lawyers who were in Cleveland monitoring for election fraud. The Ohio GOP needs Ohio Republicans to stand up and come alive.

Phil Byler on December 21, 2008 at 6:33 PM

Well you have to understand the rise and fall of the Ohio GOP.

Once upon a time there was a guy named Jim Rhodes(R) from SE Ohio and he was villified for Kent State ....he begat Dick Celeste (d), during this period of time the Cleveland old "Ohio Gang's kids and grandkids" ran our party, BUT then in the late 70s to mid 80s a funny thing happened the state GOP's spiritual center moved from Chicago on the Cuyahoga to Cincy and SW Ohio and all was good....we used revulsion at the deep corruption that Celeste engaged in to get George "tears on the Senate floor at Bolton" Voinovich elected to replace him.

The mistake we made as a aprty was in allowing Voinovich to empower the Cleveland gang he was from as Rhodes' second Lt. Gov....

this sent Bob Taft into power with Nancy Hollister as his front man....Governor Hollister lost a tight race to the guy who replaced Bob Taft as governor and Taft was so dirty he allowed people to forget how dirty the donks are....

Governor Strickland is pushing the envelope early into his reign however with the ACORN antics he allowed unvommented upon and the attempted snowjob on the whole Joe the Plumber gate....

*luckily* Strickland can rely on a heavily leftoid Ohio press to run as much cover as they can.

This is the norm for MSM on all fronts. Did anyone notice that the Fox News story on Hiram Monserrate failed to mention he was a democrat?
I guess we should be thankful for the story. eh/

Take a look on FoxNews and you will see either an AP byline or a comment at the bottom that states AP provided content for the story. From what I can tell, very little content on the FoxNews website is exclusively FoxNews content, most of it comes from AP and they dutifully reproduce the headline, body, and propaganda of the AP piece.

My supposition anymore is to assume that whenever a story is written about a scandal, if the party affiliation is not mentioned, the miscreant is a Democrat. We all need to start propagating that information to friends, relatives and acquaintances. If the AP won't do it, we can.

As far as the comment about moving on, we need to not just cover this over like good cats, we need to loudly publicize and expose this kind of behavior. Remember 49% of US voters (I'm allowing 3% for fraud and ballot-box stuffing) voted for Obama. The only way I can see that the bulk of these <strike>useful idiots</strike> voters voted for Obama is that they were exposed to the MSM exclusively for their "news" sources. Watching the MSM, who would not see Obama as the superior candidate? The fact is that more needs to be done to sensitize the American people about the real, documentable bias in the media. Exposing more people to examples such as this helps to do that.

And you sound like a child not seeing the reality that has been since I was alive. Best we move forward with our agenda regardless of the media than whine. Sheesh grow up.

Regarding my suspicion, expressed above (December 21, 2008 at 2:11 PM), that this byline-less story could possibly have been by Glen Johnson, below is proof that forgetting to mention the political party of newsworthy miscreants of the Democrat persuasion is indeed a favored modus operandi of Johnson.

Catch this tag by Tom Blumer at Newsbusters about Johnson's very recent story about corruption swirling around the Massachusetts House Speaker, Salvatore DiMasi. Blumer lists those Democrats mentioned but NOT identified as Democrats in Johnson's story, beginning with DiMasi.

That would be the AP's Glen Johnson of the fawning over the "regal" Hillary Clinton society. Captain Ed captured the barf-worthiness of that story at the time.

The guessing game -- name that party -- continues apace!

Obama is above political parties. He transcends petty partisanship. As Brucie Kibbutz says often in Grand Theft Auto IV, he's genetically superior. I mean, would you try to put Jesus in a political party? Of course not.
Know the O, bro! Know the O!!

Sorry, that last espresso brownie may have been one too many.

Lucky for Brunner, she too possesses the Democratic powers of self-redemption/absolution. She declared the Ohio election “free, fair, open and honest” on Nov 6 in an e-mail from her 2010 re-election campaign committee - not from the secretary of state’s office! See http://tinyurl.com/6nerxt
