As you know, I am passionate about the environment. So, I want to pass along a couple updates that you might find interesting.

Arrogant? I’d call it that, but the problem with the global-warming movement and the Next Ice Age movement that preceded it is not arrogance per se but its advancement into a religion, where dissenters are cast as modern heretics and debate is rejected.

As I posted on my blog back in 2006, the producers of Gore’s breakthrough documentary An Inconvenient Truth spoke of global warming in religious terms in this newspaper ad (bold verbatim in original):

“An Inconvenient Truth” is already one of the top ten documentaries of all time.

It has a chance to become a phenomenon.

There are people in Washington today hoping that never happens, so they can dismiss this as a fringe issue.

If you care . . . you can’t let them.

You need to take your friends and family, and make them see it.

It is not enough to be converted. Now is the time for you to convert others.

This is global warming’s moment.

This is our last, best chance to tip things back in the planet’s favor.

For those of you who didn’t read about Obama’s new science advisor, John P. Holdren in the headlines: he’s a global warming nut who still thinks Paul Ehrlich (population nut) is brilliant. I hope we don’t end up freezing or starving because of intentional government policy.

Snow in Las Vegas does not prove or disprove global warming. The record melting of the ice caps does, however.

Interesting because Antarctica’s ice is increasing:

It’s curious to me, however, that so many weather folk seem to be skeptical of global warming claims. One would think the opinions and viewpoints of people who actually deal with the WEATHER everyday would carry more weight than that of some leftist moonbat celebrity tree hugger or ivory tower dweller.

This may be slightly OT but on the CNN news ticker tonight I saw them whine about that whole ice caps “melting at alarming rates” thing.

Just goes to show ya, the more stuff like this happens, the louder the screaming gets.

The record melting of those ice caps that are actually getting thicker in about 3/4 of the places that are ACTUALLY being measured physically? Those record meltings????

Rather than the ones that are ‘measured’ according to computer modeling or satellite telemetry, and the data ‘massaged’ to the greater glory of AlGore, and/or the cherry picked ones amongst those which are being physically measured and actually thinning??

Only about 1/4 to 1/3 of the ice caps that are actually being measured physically are showing signs of thinning. Many others are at record (since the beginning of the time they have been monitored) thickness.

Maybe if you quit slamming your head against the desk the brain damage will heal.

The record melting of the ice caps does, however.

Yup all that record melting has raised the sea level at the old condo precisely zero inches….

but it is MAGIC water that CHOOSES only to flood out Pacific atolls where the natives have no concept of thrust erosion….

Here’s a word you might want to acquaint yourself with: Displacement.

They worship only themselves, hate their fellow man, and can’t conceive that some deity might actually have a plan with all this climate stuff.

Science is not about consensus. Science is about the data proving or disproving a hypothesis. It was once a “scientific consensus” that the Sun went around the Earth. That didn’t make the hypothesis true.

Or would they prefer 2 mile thick ice sheets over the northern hemisphere?

I think I confused them. No answer as yet. (except for one bozo who referred me to the IPCC executive summary) I don’t think they are real clear on what constitutes a scientific study.
