Tee hee: Palin’s sort of “palling around” with drug dealers now, notes Olby

An important lesson on guilt by association from a man who surely never would have objected if John McCain had once worked with, say, an unrepentant abortion clinic bomber. I can’t decide which part is my favorite: Is it Kayo comparing The One’s knowing, voluntarily association with a terrorist to Palin being saddled months ago with an in-law who was busted just this week? Or is it him using Palin’s own supposed lack of empathy to declare open season on this story, replete with nasty drug jokes from an actual comedian about what Bristol Palin’s baby should be named? It gets tiresome pointing out Olbypocrisy, but try to imagine his reaction if one of Joe Biden’s in-laws was arrested for possession and O’Reilly spent a segment overtly goofing on it.
Oh, and this being “Countdown,” there’s at least one key detail that’s hugely misleading. Turns out Sherry Johnston apparently wasn’t busted for meth but for oxycontin. Olby could have waited to find that out instead of speculating, but why bother when meth jokes are so much more fun? That’s the Murrow way, after all.
Update: In case it’s not clear, I believe this aired on Thursday night’s show, not last night’s.

You’re a moron if you actually believe Obama’s lines about him “just being a guy in the neighborhood.” They worked together for YEARS.

Seth,
She has been attacked in ways NO other American politician has been attacked before in the modern era.
And nobody here at HotAir believes she’s a Saint.
Yes, she is about as common as you are ever going to find at the national level. Just check the income level on her tax return. She is the first national politician to make LESS money than me. However, she is VERY charismatic and this makes her extraordinary. She has guts too. You just don’t see that at the national level. Her power comes not from DC but closer to the grassroots. It is why the MSM is desparately trying to give the knockout blow to her.

Not a moron, just a dedicated MoveOn agent sent here to alter our perceptions of reality. Probably also needs a trim.

Wrong Harry. Obama has worked by choice with Ayers for years. The facts speak for themselves now.
Sapwolf on December 20, 2008 at 11:01 PM
First off, Obama held his first political fundraiser in Ayers living room. Ayers held a “meet the candidate” tea for candidate Obama when he was running for the state legislature. Obama served on the same boards as Ayers. He blurbed one of Ayers’ books. Michelle Obama even got Ayers campus speaking gigs. They were associates and probably friends. In fact, during the primaries, Obama’s campaign spokesman actually said that the Obamas had a “friendly relationship” with Ayers and his wife.
As for Ayers now being “respectable”, let me tell you something. I loved Palin’s jab about Obama “palling around with terrorists.” First, because it applied the correct moniker to Bill Ayers and his wife – terrorists. People who blow up government buildings and plot to murder soldiers and their dates are terrorists. It’s shameful that the media is still unwilling to acknowledge this. By describing his connection with this disreputable couple as “palling around,” Palin was not being flippant, she was mocking Obama and the bizarro world of leftist activism in which an unrepentant leftwing version of Timothy McVeigh can magically be rehabilitated into a respectable edu-crat. Barack Obama palled around in that bizarro world of ends-justify-the-means leftist activism, and for that he deserves to be mocked.
If you seriously think that choosing to associate yourself with such people, regardless of how they are now regarded by fellow leftists in the edu-crat community (the same fellow leftists who would have been sympathetic to these lowlifes back in the 60s and 70s) to being connected through your daughter’s future marriage to someone who got busted for drugs, then I can’t help you. You’re too clueless.
But I sure hope that you’re extended family is perfect. I would hate for you to be throwing stones from a glass palace.
ramrocks on December 20, 2008 at 11:11 PM
Hmmm, looks like someone’s chickens have come home to roost perhaps?

The only people who will see ANY Obama-Ayers/Palin-whatshername correspondence are those desperate for yet another reason to hate Sarah Palin. There is no correspondence, and those insisting on it are disingenuous, to put it mildly.

Why don’t you ignore liberal snipers and trolls with 25 word nonsense posts or cheap shots?
I see anything from decent to really great essays written to answer those worthless opinions. Moreover, I don’t travel enough, but I have actually seen the same question posed in more than one venue. Like it is actually just baiting responses.

And Obama did some blow in his day. So what? I would think to the extent drug use is relevant, it would be bigger news that the actual WINNER of the election once dabbled himself than that the LOSING candidate’s future in-law happens to have a painkiller habit. And I’d like to know if there’s anyone left in these entire United States who doesn’t have some association with someone with a drug habit. I doubt it.
The self-righteousness of these people is eclipsed only by their PDS.

Oh, I get your point all right…the problem is that being fair is not what Olby is about..he’s about the bigger TRUTH…That truth being that lefties will pay big bucks to have their views echoed back to them ad-nauseum (doesn’t matter how dumb, inaccurate or unfair it is)…so trying to argue a valid, moral point against that is meaningless…this has nothing to do with the facts of the situation…it’s a nasty little cheap shot that Olby…and those who find lefty cheap shots entertaining, will put on the credit card until they qualify for a bailout.

I can’t help it. I won’t let a slander stand without shooting it down with the truth. I don’t care how stupid it is. If it’s merely a vapid one liner, I’ll usually ignore it. But if it’s a slander stated to look like a fact, then I’ll answer as best as I can.
I always hope that perhaps it will do some good somehow, even if it is only read in passing by others who will now be informed of the truth.
This famous passage from William Faulkner’s “Intruder in the Dust” always resonates with me though I’m not a Southerner myself:
I guess I’m always hoping this time, maybe this time the troll will be convinced that he’s wrong and will see the light.
A lost cause, I know. But as Capra’s Jefferson Smith said, “they’re the only causes worth fighting for.”

LOL…I’d forgotten that the Greatest Actor in the World was in that movie.
In a weird coincidence, my wife went into labor with our two younger daughters immediately after watching She’s Having a Baby. The first time, we watched it on video when it was initially released…went to bed, and her water broke a few minutes later. The second time, we just happened to catch it when it was airing on the BBC or ITV – went to bed, and she started having contractions.

Did you mean outstanding? BHO moved to into his house by Ayers after Ayers had been living for a while. Guess you are BO star struck. Blago’s wife a Realtor, sold BHO their home. Rezko paid for BHO’S home, and also a piece of land next door. Then, few months down the line. BHO sells the piece of land to Rezko. Ayers was living there for years. It wasn’t just a coincidence. Your logic, makes no sense. And it is tenuous. How do you know she was in bed with a drug dealer? You are a moron.

That’s about as stupid a point as I’ve ever heard in defense of Obama’s embrace of Ayers…BTW, do you think Ayer’s actually did anything wrong? Maybe you think he was just a normal dude, who got a little carried away with his “passion”.
If my neighbor is an avowed terrorist…maybe I would not let him babysit my children…neighbor or not.
Maybe I would try not to associate with him…
But hey…maybe your point was that Obama was too clueless to know a terrorist had moved into the neighborhood…GOOD NEWS! I definitely want that guy running the country!
Oh, nevermind, I’m wasting my breath on you…you managed not to see these points coming at you, so I doubt you even get it now that it’s been explained to you…but most people here are smart enough to get.

I have news for the MSM and all of the other Obama apologists out there: His questionable associations are a liability for him regardless. If he genuinely didn’t realize that people like Ayers and Wright and Blago were rats and scoundrels, then he’s naive and betrays an astounding lack of good judgment (not exactly an enviable character trait in your chosen leader), OR he knows EXACTLY who they are and is just as crooked and disingenuous as they are. I suspect the latter, BTW. It’s amusing to me that these people keep popping up in connection to him and he either disavows any such connection or feigns ignorance as to their true nature. At this point, it’s happened once or twice too often for it to be mere coincidence I think. Either way, it reflects poorly on The One.

Well, as far as I know Ayers isn’t a child molester, at least. I guess that’s all it takes to be “upstanding” to the moonbats these days, as long as their politics are sufficiently leftist. Ayers is a loon, and Obama’s association with him goes a little beyond just “being in the neighborhood”.

About thirteen years ago. I lived in a apartment in Carpinteria, Ca. There was a neighbor there. She had a two year old daughter. She killed her daughter. There for a while the cops had to prove it. She was such a loon, that she was very convincing. I didn’t associate with her. Then, about 7 months after she did this. I noticed she was very pregnant again. She was on court order to have her tubes cut and tied. I know the head of Santa Barbara Child Protective Services. I called her and told her about this woman. When she said the lady’s first name. I said yes it is. Long story short. They kept surveillance on her. The night she went to have her baby. That baby was taken away. Two weeks after, they arrested her for Murder. She is now locked up for a long time. But a lot of people living there, let her baby sit their kids.

You never know who you’re living next to these days. I don’t hold it against Obama that Ayers had a house in his neighborhood. But, as everyone here mentioned, Obama’s relationship to Ayers went way beyond that.
I have the misfortune of living next to the Scientology Celebrity Centre in Hollywood. It’s a nice neighborhood, but let me tell ya — those friggin’ Scientologists are as nutty as a squirrel’s cheeks in November. No one would condemn me for living in the same neighborhood with this blue-shirt Tom Cruise worshipers. But if I launched my campaign for city council at their Celebrity Centre restaurant, blurbed a book by L. Small world! I grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan. In a weird coincidence, Royal Oak was mentioned today in another Hot Air post. It’s about the “Annoyance Ordinance”, which was apparently first enacted in Royal Oak. It’s a funky little suburb outside of Detroit. It’s sort of like the Greenwich Village/West Hollywood of southeast Michigan. There’s a 150 year old cemetery running through Main Street, and at the end of it is Jack Kevorkian’s residence. The city was also home of the nutty quasi-fascist Father Coughlin and the beautiful Catholic church that he built in the 1930s, which my family still attends.
Oh dear, I’d better stop now. I’m suddenly feeling nostalgic… and I won’t be going home for Christmas this year…

Well, I didn’t have enough in my bank to go get it. It was either gas for work, Or Salmon and worry about gas. I am strange. I don’t like asking hubby for money. He is real good to me. And I like to do as much as I can for him. And me too. Was going to make it this weekend. But had to much to do. Tomorrow I have a lot to do. I will make it soon.

“The crystal meth capital of Alaska”?
Alaska is just notorious for being a hive of scum and villany now, ain’t it.

Hollywood in general has toyed with promoting it in.

Obama not only knew and befriended people who did coke, he did coke. Relationship that Murrow.

Shouldn’t people who not only voted for but glorify the President Elect, want to consider that The One has admitted to repeated drug use in one or both of his books?
Cindy Munford on December 21, 2008 at 8:35 AM
Oh???
Did the MIL set off bombs in state or federal buildings? Did she open her home for one of Palin’s fundraisers early in her career? Did they even sit on the PTA board together?
Let’s assume the answer to those questions is yes. It’s irrelevant. The operative relationship here is between Bristol and Levi, not their parents. That’s where the “same rules” cease to apply.
Not that Keith knows anybody like that… right?
manwithblackhat on December 21, 2008 at 8:42 AM
It’s laughable that the MSM is painting Obama as the ONLY honest person who just HAPPENED to get tangled up with 1 million crooks in Chicago – ALL OF WHOM HE DID DEALS WITH. LOL

Just some of the great comments on:

“Oberdouche is an asshole and a waste of oxygen.”
“K.O. is mentally ill, and if all is right with the world..eventually, he will have a meltdown right on the tube….”

You are a very patient person. It takes about two seconds for me to be tired of people like Harry.

As the saying goes – one that we’re especially reminded of during the Holidays – you can choose your friends but you can’t choose your family.
If someone can’t see the difference between person “A”
freely and deliberately associating with person “B” verus person “C” having to associate with family member “D”, then I hope Santa brings you a book on logic.
After you’re done, send it to Olbermann. Not that it’ll do any good because he knows the difference but doesn’t care since he’s a liberal hack.

Olby’s an arse and his fraternal twin brother Rachel “Rocky” Maddow is only slightly less an arse. Just red meat for the left wing fringe.

What a buffoon. It cracks me up that libs take him seriously.
marklmail on December 21, 2008 at 11:35 AM
I wonder if he’ll issue a correction about the meth accusation. If he does, he’ll probably just use the mention of oxyc*ntin to slam Rush Limbaugh.
ramrocks on December 21, 2008 at 11:35 AM
Seems like an appropriate time for Ben Affleck’s Olby impression on SNL.
Jim62sch on December 21, 2008 at 11:43 AM
If you go to the program’s website (here) and leave a note in their commentary section, it’ll (likely) be immediately deleted.
It doesn’t matter how calm and respectful your post is, if it is in any critical of the show, it’ll be squashed. I’ve tried.
Unless they’re now allowing less than laudatory comments.
SteveMG on December 21, 2008 at 11:44 AM
They say that Olbie actually went to the set to stare down Affleck as he performed. What a weirdo.

The best movie of all time is set in Alaska. Josh Harnett plays a real American hero trying to protect a town plunged into 30 days of darkness.
The problem isn’t drugs, it’s vampires….
AprilOrit on December 21, 2008 at 11:58 AM
I guess next we’ll hear Obly talk about how Obama is palling around with adicts/adulters & killers since Caroline Kennedy is his new friend. Anyone able to count the number of Kennedys who are/were alcoholics/drug addicts/men who cheated with their namnnies/ strangeled their neighbors/etc? Palin’s circle is nothing compared to the dysfunctional Kennedy one.
