An important lesson on guilt by association from a man who surely never would have objected if John McCain had once worked with, say, an unrepentant abortion clinic bomber. I can’t decide which part is my favorite: Is it Kayo comparing The One’s knowing, voluntarily association with a terrorist to Palin being saddled months ago with an in-law who was busted just this week? Or is it him using Palin’s own supposed lack of empathy to declare open season on this story, replete with nasty drug jokes from an actual comedian about what Bristol Palin’s baby should be named? It gets tiresome pointing out Olbypocrisy, but try to imagine his reaction if one of Joe Biden’s in-laws was arrested for possession and O’Reilly spent a segment overtly goofing on it.
Oh, and this being “Countdown,” there’s at least one key detail that’s hugely misleading. Turns out Sherry Johnston apparently wasn’t busted for meth but for oxycontin. Olby could have waited to find that out instead of speculating, but why bother when meth jokes are so much more fun? That’s the Murrow way, after all.
Update: In case it’s not clear, I believe this aired on Thursday night’s show, not last night’s.

the Meth jokes may come from National Enquirer, when they ran some Palin smears. Some of it was from supposed witnesses that claimed that both of Palin’s older kids, the son in army and Bristol, partied hard and did alot of Meth openly at parties.

What really has cracked me up about this whole thing is how ridiculous some of the headlines are. The editors and reporters really had to work hard to try to make what should be two sentences in the Wasilla paper’s crime page about a small-time drug bust into a story.
And, yeah, Olby selling a few pills (or even a lot of pills) of Oxy is the same as blowing up police stations and plotting to kill soldiers and their girlfriends. Those two things are definitely equivalent.

I can’t remember her name, but believe she was from Puerto Rico, Jamaica, or some point further south. I thought she even had a blog for a short while. Anyone else remember that? According to ADN, the drug wasn’t meth, it was oxyc*ntin. I know Johnston was hit with intent to distribute, but cops always charge people with that if the amount seized is more than a very small amount.

I don’t believe it. Her oldest son spent most of his senior year out of state at hockey training schools. I think he was trying to make it to the pros. Anyone disciplined to be that good of an athlete can’t be an out and out druggie. And do the Palins and the Heaths strike you as “hands off” parents or grandparents? Granted, her daughter got pregnant, but I don’t think her kids would get away with doing meth without her noticing.

There is no indication that this woman is an alcoholic or that she fits the stereotype of a druggie any more than Rush Limbaugh or Cindy McCain do. She might have gotten hooked on a painkiller after it was prescribed for her. It happens all the time. I feel more pity than judgemental disgust for people who become addicted to painkillers. It could happen to anyone.

Strange ways the Heavens work people. She has Trig, with Down’s, yet she was rewarded with the love of another boy. No doubt Sarah and her family have hit the jackpot (and I am not, for the record, supporting what Bristol did). I just feel that because of Sarah’s decision to have Trig and give him all the love he deserves, now another boy will arrive to this crazy world, lucky him, to be part of the Palin family.

It’s enough to stick to her as well. It is something that can’t be explained away or discredited.
