Okay, let me be slightly less subtle. If you have claimed to be a Christian, please go back and read your last — oh, say 10 posts. Some of you will come out looking okay, but for some I’d have to ask: where’s the love?
I’m going to avoid calling names, but it is understandable why some people’s Christian discipleship is doubted, because there is NO evidence of love, either for other Christians or for non-Christians.

So? I don’t care. It was really just something to get my feet wet in the whole blogging thing – I realize not many people ever posted to it, and the plurality of the posts I got were (deleted pre-approval) death threats.
If I recall correctly, that reply was to a post of mine about the . . . people . . . that thought the 9/11 attacks were so funny they had to express their feelings smack on a phone booth. I refuse to shy away from calling such actions what they rightfully deserve to be called – pathetic – and I also refuse to let people such as yourself twist my words into something they were never intended as. The only hypocrisy in my article was in the mind of whoever replied to it.
But most importantly, I refuse to let you use my words as a sword over my neck. As Jesus said, we must judge ourselves before others.
I do that. You don’t. Case closed.
If this were a statement regarding the Rainbow Coalition or the far left I’d agree with you.
But this is your own camp, bud.

Depends on who he’s said it to. That doesn’t always mean a fight, but yes, it’s true that people say things online that they wouldn’t say to a person’s face. That’s just a fact of life. And that’s also why most don’t take those threats seriously.

It looks to me like the first one is a statement bordering on a threat. A real threat is “Shut up or I will beat you senseless.”

It was questioned that I wanted you banned simply because I disagreed with your opinions.
I replied that there was much, much, MUCH more to the issue of why I want you banned than a simple disagreement.
As far as what happens to you once you lose your HA posting privileges, I couldn’t care less.

On the other hand, Penn’s encounter may have planted a seed in his mind that leads him to the “Romans Road to salvation.” Sometimes events like this begin the conversion experience. While it can take time, a special set of circumstances in life can be what finally opens their eyes and “turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins” (Acts 26:18). Peope can find truth in an accumulation of events over time and get saved. Only time will tell for Penn. And it can take time. Believers need to pray for him.

I don’t know what the context of the video was (right after a show, late at night, etc.)…
…but Penn seemed to be very moved by this little incident.
As a tough talking anti-theist, I’m sure that Penn has felt the brunt of some over-zealous Christians as they ‘fight back.’
But sometimes the worse thing we Christians can do is to get into someone’s face. That just makes them double down and stay where they are.
Or, to quote Proverbs: ” A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
In this instance, the man’s love and honesty hit home.
I don’t know if Penn will ever find Christ…
…but this man definitely pointed him in the right direction and at LEAST got Penn to genuinely reconsider things.

Today’s devotion was about persecution in the cause of right.
Stookey’s little commentary spoke to the difference between being persecuted because we stand for the right thing…
…and persecution based on our own obnoxiousness.
