Today, on the Ed Morrissey Show (3 pm ET), John Cribb, co-author of the new book The American Patriot’s Almanac: Daily Readings on America, joins us to discuss the book that’s currently #70 on Amazon’s list. Jazz Shaw will join me in the second half to discuss the open Senate seat in New York, dynasties in general, and the brilliance of the referees in Baltimore last Sunday.

Today, we’re also starting my fundraising drive for Twin Cities Marriage Encounter. I’ll be posting PayPal buttons for one-time and automatic monthly donations to this non-profit, which tries to build stronger communities by strengthening marriages, on my show posts until the end of the year. I’ll talk more about this fundraiser during the show, and talk about why I volunteer as board president for TCME. Donations are tax deductible! Please note The Ed Morrissey Show or Hot Air on the memo line:

Now you can join the conversation in the chat room! Be sure to register at Ustream to participate in our raucous live-chat sessions. (And if the log-in prompt doesn’t come up in the chat box below, use this link instead.) Jazz Shaw of The Moderate Voice moderates the chat, and he has his Troll Gun Trivia Contest running before the show, for those who get there early — and are registered!

Since the UStream is blocked at workm I have a very simple question for Jazz Shaw:

How pathetic will New York look if it appoints a Red Sox fan from Massachusetts to one of the highest prestige offices in New York?

Shameful. I can’t let you guys do it. If you want a celebrity, see if you can draft Jason Giambi or Mike Mussina. I mean really. I hate the Yankees, but I can’t stomach the blow to Yankee Pride that would ensue.

I wanted to buy a couple copies of The American Patriot’s Almanac: Daily Readings on America as gifts as soon as I learned about it, including one copy for my 13-year-old son.

BUT it’s not available until December 27! What timing! It probably would be in the top 10 on Amazon if you could actually take delivery before Christmas.

No doubt I will buy a copy anyway, but how do these things happen?

This group also does a great job at encouraging marriages.
