Regardless of the actual timetable, I’m waiting to see how long it’ll take before the left credits Obama for “winning” Iraq.

I’m going with my prediction that they’ll do it by giving him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 for his efforts. (I say 2012 because it’d be an excuse for a free campaign ad on every network and newspaper so it’d be too good for them to miss it.)

I think it is clear, that had Clinton gone after Saddam in 93 (which he should have), and we had the invasion play out exactly how it did these last few years, that the Left would be lionizing Clinton for his success – freeing tens of millions of people, eliminating one of the world’s worst tyrants, etc, at an amazingly low cost in lives? And we on the right would grudingly admire him for it – like FDR with WWII.

But the war was a tool for both our enemies abroad and the Left domestically. Essentially, Saudi dollars and Berkeley bodies broke President Bush.

In the short run, the brigades will stay until they can be re-tasked for Afghanistan.

That is at least 2 years away.

Obama introduced is bill to congress on January 31st 2007.

That was roughly when all the “sixteen month withdrawal” talk started. The bill called for full “combat” withdrawal by March 2008.

That is 23 months ago.

Then the rhetoric shifted to sixteen months from Obama taking office in January meaning roughly May 2010.

That would be 40 months from Obama’s proposal.

And now there is a treaty between the US and Iraq to have all “combat troops” pulled back and “over the horizon” etc. etc. by 2011.

That is at least 2 years away.

Yep. Thank gawd that anti-war crowd voted in a real leader to bring the Iraq war to an end. How’s the kool-aide?

The Code Pink brigade will likely be unhappy, but the MSM won’t give them the same level of coverage like they did while GWB was in office. They’ve served their purpose.

And it was never really about Iraq…it just happened to be a handy cudgel to beat the President about the head with.

Everyone knows it took a decade or more to finally put an end to hostilities after WWII.

Question, exactly why would we want to leave Iraq? And for extra credit, why would a free Iraq want us to leave?

I wonder if Olberwoman will start a new countdown on January 20 to counter his, blah blah blah since mission accomplished. Starting January 20, 480 days until President Obama has our troops home! 479 days until…..

‘Tiny’ Olbermann does not care one iota about our troops. I still believe that if O’Reilly had not gone to Fox and for some strange bizarre reason, they wanted Obly to be the cornerstone of their conservative commentators, Olberman would have gone down on Roger Ailes to get the job and be a good conservative for him.

My wife is over in Iraq as a I type.

Take heart Bambi is likely to have to knuckle under to Barney “Banking Queen” Frank’s intonations that a 25% defense cut is the minimum the force will face. Fact is there is likely a drawdown coming so the Daily Kook will be happy regardless of if Bambi makes the troops play “make do” with the same missions with less resources.
