Anything that’s too good to be true almost always is… there’s skullduggery going on.

I wonder if this winner woke up that morning and thought, MAN, this is going to be my day! Congrats to him!

So he got it right on the nose. How long has this show been on the air, and how frequently is it on?

This version of Price has been on since 1972. I say version because from 1954-1963, there was a different version hosted by game show icon (and Pittsburgh native) Bill Cullen, whose looks in the video below could bear resemblance to Drew Carey. That show had 4 contestants, one of them a champion, bid for amazing merchandise in a bidding war. Whoever bids closer to the right price w/o going over wins the prize. Also scattered about were bonuses. Win the prize and you get the bonus prize added to your total. Highest score wins and comes back next time. An example of the game play is below…note how sedate and classy it is compared to the keg party that Price has become.

The Double Showcase rule came into effect on the present version in 1974. At the time, contestants had to be LESS THAN $100 to hit both packages. One time a contestant was $100 away but only won HER showcase. About 1995, the limit changed to $250 or less.

There was one time BOTH contestants were less than $100 away from the price of their showcase. One was $30 off, the other $29 off.

wow you guys (well all but one) missed the bigger surprise in this vid.

The Woman overbids him by $1 in the opening round when he was the highest bidder. — So she went out of her way to dog him.

Then karma bit her. Twice.
