Video: Iraqi ambassador tells off Code Pink for defending shoe-thrower

Reminds me of the time Karzai had to explain terrorism to Democratic AP shill Jennifer Loven at a White House presser. The point about Saddam is familiar enough to be almost rote under most circumstances — but not this time, given who it’s coming from. I like the idea of him scolding them too for, of all things, being insensitive to cultural differences. I wonder if he did it purposely, just to tweak their progressive pride.

They also staged a shoe-themed protest in front of the White House this morning, replete with headless Bush puppet, natch. Exit question: Is what Sumaidaie says about Iraqis finding this reprehensible true? Hmmm. Click the image to watch.

Jeralyn Merritt at Talkleft reported (approvingly, I think) yesterday that the Lawyer’s Guild is raising money to defend this guy.

I’ll look for the link.

MayBee on December 17, 2008 at 2:06 PM

And the Code Pink moron asks, “What about what Bush did?” You mean liberate tens of millions of people so that they could act like idiots without the fear of getting killed for it?

amerpundit on December 17, 2008 at 2:06 PM

I’d like to kick the $*** out of the Code Pinkers with MY shoe.

Oink on December 17, 2008 at 2:11 PM

Code Pink knows full well that insulting the guest means insulting the host. That’s why they’re insulting the Iraqi Ambassador by holding up those signs, because it also means they’re insulting Bush.

These are women who went to Iran, and claimed to be having a swell time. These are women who are buddies with Hugo Chavez.

They don’t deserve the time of day.

jimmy the notable on December 17, 2008 at 2:11 PM

Oh, I misunderstood Jeralyn’s post.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—
December 15, 2008

NATIONAL LAWYERS GUILD LAUNCHES “GIVE BUSH THE BOOT” SHOE DRIVE IN SUPPORT OF IRAQI REPORTER MUNTAZER AL-ZAIDI

In light of the recent shoe-throwing incident in Baghdad, the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) urges Americans to show their opposition to the
policies of the Bush administration by donating pairs of shoes to their local homeless shelters and other organizations serving the needy. The gesture is also intended as a show of support for Iraqi reporter Muntazer al-Zaidi who remains in detention, accused by the Iraqi government of a “barbaric act.”

Isn’t that cute? You can give shoes to homeless people in support of an Iraqi Sadrist.

MayBee on December 17, 2008 at 2:12 PM

The Code Pink fruitcakes would shudder with fear if someone lobbed a sock at them.

fogw on December 17, 2008 at 2:13 PM

The driving force beind the Code Pink bunch is hatred and intolerance for those with whom they disagree.

perroviejo on December 17, 2008 at 2:13 PM

Tell ya what, Code Pinko, go to Iran and hold a gay rights rally. See how far you get with that.

rbj on December 17, 2008 at 2:14 PM

Code Pink: Losers

Forces of evil in a bozo nightmare

Y-not on December 17, 2008 at 2:21 PM

These are women who went to Iran, and claimed to be having a swell time.

If they hadn’t been forced to wear burqas, they’d've been executed for Teh Ugly.

nukemhill on December 17, 2008 at 2:21 PM

This ridiculous (and embarrasing) cheerleading of al-Zaidi is not limited to Code Pink. By way of example, various lunatic leftists, such as, e.g., Dan Froomkin and Eugene Robinson at the WaPo also think his actions were wonderful. It will be interesting to see the reaction from these morons when the ire of the perpetually discontented (and galactically stupid) is pointed in the Messiah’s direction after January 20. I can hardly wait…

sayabule1 on December 17, 2008 at 2:24 PM

Mental cases. Worse than the extreme right.

Isn’t this the perfect way to protest a war that we are winning? To attack a lame duck president?

I can’t wait to see how they protest The One. And if you think this war was bad, wait till the Messiah decides to Save Darfur.

I’d love to ask these women why The One was keeping Gates.

IlikedAUH2O on December 17, 2008 at 2:24 PM

These people are such cowards. Code Pink, The journalist who threw his shoes. They do these publicity stunts where they no nothing will happen to them. The only reason they get attention is because they hate GW, and we all know the media cant stop themselves from making a good ole Bush bashing front and center in the news. All they are is a bunch of media whores.

MDWNJ on December 17, 2008 at 2:24 PM

Tell ya what, Code Pinko, go to Iran and hold a gay rights rally. See how far you get with that.

Code Pink would never do that. What they do however, it steal photos from genuine protests in countries like that, do a bit of editing to make it look like one of their own protests.

firepilot on December 17, 2008 at 2:26 PM

I like the ambassador. Thank you, sir.

capitalist piglet on December 17, 2008 at 2:27 PM

And i would love to know where these brainless rejects get there numbers. They say 1.5 million Iraqi’s died, because of the war, and 5 million left Iraq. The population of Iraq is 27 million. So we are to assume that 1 out of every 4 Iraqi’s died or left Iraq.

MDWNJ on December 17, 2008 at 2:33 PM

Code Dumb

notagool on December 17, 2008 at 2:34 PM

Exit question: Is what Sumaidaie says about Iraqis finding this reprehensible true?

Not if you only follow the MSM. They will only show stories of the protesters and leave the impression that 99 percent of the Iraqis hate the President and wish that the shoes had hit him.

Corsair on December 17, 2008 at 2:35 PM

But people are still saying that the Right shouldn’t question Obama because it would undermine him? Hells, bells – these people can’t even stop when Pres Bush is only a couple of months from leaving office.

katiejane on December 17, 2008 at 2:39 PM

Clip Made. My. Day.

Malpaso on December 17, 2008 at 2:43 PM

If they stay diverted onto shoes, it may keep them from shedding their shirts and bras in public again. Let’s hope.

a capella on December 17, 2008 at 2:47 PM

The left and Merritt will do everything but stand up to real evil. They are a bunch of poseurs and cowards.

Blake on December 17, 2008 at 2:54 PM

Code Pink is absolutely the best political opponent we could ask for. They make fools of themselves with every new stunt they pull. They undermine their cause through sheer numbskullery. We should send them a fruit basket for their efforts.

It’s also worth noting that the Freepers continue to counter-protest after three years the ongoing anti-war protest of the wounded at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. That protest was started by Code Pink. It’s just about the only anti-Iraq war protest left, now that victory in the Iraq war is purt near in the bag.

Tantor on December 17, 2008 at 2:57 PM

He said the word ‘Dignity’….

You can be sure that went right over their heads.

BigWyo on December 17, 2008 at 2:59 PM

I’m sure that Code Pink illness includes total ineptness when it comes to recognizing that the people of whom you claim solidarity find you completely offensive.

After financially supporting terrorists that kill Iraqis and parading around Iran, Code Pink would most likely be met with something more deadly than a shoe if they set foot in Iraq.

Hening on December 17, 2008 at 3:00 PM

The ultimate free speech zone. All those Code Pinkers and all those shoes….

How can they press charges, when their own statements indicate that shoe throwing is protected speech?

unclesmrgol on December 17, 2008 at 3:06 PM

Kudos to Iraqi ambassador!

Code Pink-O…ROT!

christene on December 17, 2008 at 3:06 PM

Awesome retort from the Ambassador. The Iraqis may have issues with the US/Bush, but they will handle them in the proper way. And, it was notable that he mentions that the affront is doubly so for the host and embarrasses the nation. I especially like the last bit, where the Ambassador says that freedom is for everybody, even those who don’t know how to handle it.

Excellent remarks Ambassador, the world needs more people like you representing them.

Geministorm on December 17, 2008 at 3:14 PM

Code Punk is what they are .. propaganda opportunists , only too eager to indulge the media in their sick existences.

The shoe(s) toss was a lame gesture as is, Iraqis have other things to worry about than being ’saved’ by Code Punk.

normsrevenge on December 17, 2008 at 3:17 PM

What’s there to be surprised about?

The shoe-thrower was a former Ba’athist, turned Sadrist; thus, by definition, he’s an adherent to dictatorial political movements that harbor deep animosity to pluralistic societies and democratic govts.

IOW, he’s a natural hero to the ignorant Left.

rvastar on December 17, 2008 at 3:18 PM

good for the ambassador, by the way the final lesson of this whole affair? The left is to be despised and there no compromise of agreement to be reached, they need to be defeated and destroyed.

rob verdi on December 17, 2008 at 3:32 PM

Despise. Defeat. Destroy. I like it, call it the 3-D strategy.

rob verdi on December 17, 2008 at 3:34 PM

My question is:

WHAT IN THE WORLD is code pink going to do come next year when Bush is no longer in office.

Dare i say…code pink would be getting laid off???

What do protesters do when their guy runs the country?

RedBurns on December 17, 2008 at 3:36 PM

Tantor at 2:57 PM -

We should send them a fruit basket for their efforts.

But that would encourage cannibalism on their part.

Josiah on December 17, 2008 at 3:44 PM

redburns,
the rent a mob will always be needed to lend authentic anger to Democrat talking points. Watch, Code Pink will move on to energy companies, health care, whatever.

rob verdi on December 17, 2008 at 3:51 PM

“It’s outrageous that al-Zaidi could get two years in prison for insulting George Bush,

Correction to Code Pink: Two years for assaulting President Bush and insulting Maliki.

Let’s remember to use words as they were intended to be used.

Mallard T. Drake on December 17, 2008 at 3:53 PM

From the AP story:

…after he was wrestled to the floor when he hurled one shoe and then the other from close range at Bush during a news conference Sunday in Baghdad. Bush deftly ducked out of the way both times.

My fantasy is that President calmly caught the shoe, look a bite out of it, and flipped it back at the “journalist.” That would have been too cool. Where’s Chuck Norris when you need him.

Of course, Chuck Norris would never have had shoes thrown at him. The shoes would have realized what was about to happen and refused to let them be untied.

Mallard T. Drake on December 17, 2008 at 3:59 PM

I love this man! I especially love the look on those Code Pink loser faces, priceless. The applause at the end was the icing on the cake. This made my day!

Done That on December 17, 2008 at 4:08 PM

Sweet. A royal smackdown. Mmm, mmm good.

Splashman on December 17, 2008 at 4:40 PM

They know who to protest, and who not to protest…if they protest the wrong person, they will be killed.
Amazing how easily and calmly he insulted them, by saying what they (Code Pink) were doing was insulting Iraq, not President Bush.

right2bright on December 17, 2008 at 4:41 PM

Libs gettin’ schooled.

Tony737 on December 17, 2008 at 4:55 PM

I think at least one of the Code Pink hags in the clip finally feels like a horse’s-ass at last.

RobCon on December 17, 2008 at 5:15 PM

No wonder Code Pink admires that guy’s “courage.” The only thing they’ve ever thrown is a fit.

Jim Treacher on December 17, 2008 at 5:20 PM

If this guy gets off for his act of ‘protest’ in a country that six years ago would have cut off his head for the same act, I say hurrah. Also, on the day after his aquital, I volunteer to throw a shoe at Obama. After all, I’m just F*CKING EXPRESSING MYSELF!

God Damn Retards!

Falconsword on December 17, 2008 at 5:23 PM

The fruits of freedom are available to everyone, even those who are not able to handle them (like these lovely ladies in pink). We should thank Bush and the US for making those fruits available rather the rape and murder as government policy. Just saying.

jerseyman on December 17, 2008 at 5:47 PM

Throw a shoe at them.

JellyToast on December 17, 2008 at 7:04 PM

Suppose, just for grins, that someone smacked one of these Code Pinkers up along side the head with a shoe. Do you think they would support assault charged against the person that did that?

Or do you suppose that they would claim to support the right of people to throw shoes at them?

If they approve of this man’s action against President Bush then they should have no problem with others expressing their outrage with them by throwing shoes at them.

That could become the new method of counterprotest with Code Pink. Not that I would condone throwing things at people.

schmuck281 on December 17, 2008 at 8:09 PM

I am sure we Americans would be just as impressed in the 40’s if some Austrian threw his shoe at Truman during a presser.

joeindc44 on December 17, 2008 at 8:57 PM

“It was an insult more to the host than to our guest.” freedom is for everyone even for those who “can’t handle it or don’t make good use of it”

A slap-down delivered with class and dignity

Dollayo on December 17, 2008 at 9:20 PM

Treacher shoots and scores!
.

Oh, and Redburns,

WHAT IN THE WORLD is code pink going to do come next year when Bush is no longer in office.

I imagine the loathsome harpies still be mocking the wounded heroes at Walter Reed.

Spiny Norman on December 17, 2008 at 11:30 PM

Let Code Pink come down to San Diego, I’ve got a few size 12s that I would like to toss at them.
