…I would personally escort Mr. Lindh from confinement and out the gates of the prison…were they to build a gallows just outside…at which point, I’d escort him up all 13 steps and adjust the noose….

…the man meets every criterion to be judged a traitor, save the milquetoast judiciary and Justice Department…that he hasn’t been executed is an insult to the memories of Eddie Slovik and a lot of other guys who were executed, and on much thinner grounds and evidence….

…one justice for all, no matter how unpopular….

Bush has his White House Ramadan dinners, but the Commander in Chief will not pardon the Christian military chaplain who was removed from the service and lost his pension because he refused to stop praying in the name of Jesus

The chaplain served for years and earned his pension. He did not conspire to destroy America like jihad Johnny

I took pains to point out he shouldn’t be absolved of his criminal behavior, merely that, in light of his service, I consider the price he’s already paid sufficient. He’s lost his money, his career, his dignity, and has been in jail for some time now. I think that’s enough.

Children grow up. When they do and they move away from mommy and daddy, they are responsible for their own actions/choices. Parents are important, but people are responsible for their own actions.

At the risk of going against the tide here, let’s consider a couple of facts. Johnny was about 16 when he joined the Taliban. This was right after his father left his mother for his gay lover and right after the mother joined some buddhist temple. Reminds me of the song lyrics, “lookin’ for love in all the wrong places”. That said, he should get the commutation only if the parents take his place for the remainder of the sentence.
