John Walker Lindh’s parents to Bush: Hey, how about a commutation?
posted at 7:43 pm on December 17, 2008 by Allahpundit
“This is the last year that President Bush could consider giving a commutation to John Walker Lindh, and there are very good reasons to do that,” attorney Jim Brosnahan said at a news conference today in San Francisco. “I’ve never eliminated the idea that President Bush might think it’s the right thing to do, now that John has served seven years.”
Raj Chatterjee, another of Lindh’s attorneys, said others detained and/or charged in the “War on Terror” under similar or more serious circumstances have been released after serving less time. “There’s a fundamental principle of U.S. jurisprudence, and that is that prison sentences must be fair and similar cases should be treated similarly,” he said. “It has become abundantly clear that John has been treated differently.”…
Frank Lindh said they’re still pinning all hopes on Bush because the events transpired during his Administration, rather than waiting for Barack Obama to become president. Bush initially had referred to Lindh as a “poor fellow” who “has been misled,” but later supported his prosecution.
I don’t understand why this turd has become a cause celebre. He fought with the Taliban against the Northern Alliance after the U.S. entered the war; he claimed that he trained at an AQ camp in the summer of 2001 and was asked to carry out attacks against America and Israel (but declined); he didn’t warn anyone in the United States about anything, least of all Mike Spann even though he allegedly knew that the prison uprising in which Spann was killed was in the works; and rather than challenge the supposedly coercive circumstances of his interrogation in court, he copped a plea that reduced his potential sentence from life to 17 years with good behavior. By his own admission he’s a sworn jihadist, albeit one who’s supposedly expressed remorse for 9/11 (but not, according to his own father, for the U.S.S. Cole bombing). Exit question: Why, then, do I have an uneasy suspicion that Bush actually is going to trim a few years off his term?

Let this miserable P.O.S. rot in his cell. As for mom and dad traitor, HELLO this is what happens when you obfuscate your parental duties, left over love children should be barred from procreation. I have no sympathy NONE. Now get off my tv and out of my news, what trash!

At the risk of going against the tide here, let’s consider a couple of facts. Johnny was about 16 when he joined the Taliban. This was right after his father left his mother for his gay lover and right after the mother joined some buddhist temple. Reminds me of the song lyrics, “lookin’ for love in all the wrong places”. That said, he should get the commutation only if the parents take his place for the remainder of the sentence.

I agreee with what you say, but to be fair…
Children grow up. When they do and they move away from mommy and daddy, they are responsible for their own actions/choices. Parents are important, but people are responsible for their own actions.
His parents are still morons naturally and JWL can rot and go to Hell and die for all I care!

John Walker Lindh is what Ayers’ and Dohrn’s unfortunate offspring will turn out to be. Simple as that. Nature? Possibly. Nurture? Absolutely!
Lindh should rot in that cell for life. And his parents can go to hell for warping his mind.

When was the last time we executed a traitor to our nation…the Rosenbergs? I hope he spends every second of his sentence bent over his bunk.
espnjunkie on December 18, 2008 at 9:25 AM
He’s not a traitor, he’s an “extreme protester”.
He should be publicly executed.

I’d rather see Bush pardon Ramos and Compean, but I suspect I’ll see ice water passed around in silver goblets in Hell first.

I don’t understand why he wasn’t hung or shot seven years ago. Am I incorrect that treason is still punishable by death?

If they miss him so much as to ask W to let him go, why don’t we just toss them in with him, then they can be one happy family again.

I took pains to point out he shouldn’t be absolved of his criminal behavior, merely that, in light of his service, I consider the price he’s already paid sufficient. He’s lost his money, his career, his dignity, and has been in jail for some time now. I think that’s enough.

Because according to Bush the guy follows the religion of peace
Bush has his White House Ramadan dinners, but the Commander in Chief will not pardon the Christian military chaplain who was removed from the service and lost his pension because he refused to stop praying in the name of Jesus
The chaplain served for years and earned his pension. He did not conspire to destroy America like jihad Johnny

How many of these fu&ks voted for the George Bush Sewage Treatment Center in San Francisco? I know Bush seems to have this propensity to turn the other cheek but just once I’d like for him to give these parasites the finger.

Not only that, Bush and Jihad Johnny share a middle name.

Commutation – No
Amputation – Yes

Like my Dad always said…
“Hey, let’s don’t and say we did…”

…I would personally escort Mr. Lindh from confinement and out the gates of the prison…were they to build a gallows just outside…at which point, I’d escort him up all 13 steps and adjust the noose….
…the man meets every criterion to be judged a traitor, save the milquetoast judiciary and Justice Department…that he hasn’t been executed is an insult to the memories of Eddie Slovik and a lot of other guys who were executed, and on much thinner grounds and evidence….
…one justice for all, no matter how unpopular….

Of course, his time could be reduced if Lindh’s neck would be lengthened.
