Video: SNL goofs on New York governor for being blind

I chuckled in shock at the sheer audacity of it when I saw it on Saturday night, but Paterson’s not laughing. I think they would have gotten away with it if the only blind gag had been his disorientation at the beginning, but they keep coming back to it, most cheaply in the form of the upside-down graph and having the character wander into the shot a few minutes later during Amy Poehler’s segment.

More surprising than the skit itself is the fact that they chose this one for posting on the website when the Blago skit, which was funnier, didn’t make the cut. Exit question: Too far? I want to sympathize, but for some reason I’m having trouble today.

If Paterson’s got the balls that Palin does, he’ll show up and do a skit on SNL.

BOO-FRICKIN-HOO!
I recall, back in the 80’s, Stevie Wonder was a guest on the show. They featured a skit that made fun of his blindness, with him trying to take pictures during a tennis match. Gee, he seemed to be a pretty good sport about it, back then!

Hmmmmm…. was Gov. Patterson equally offended when SNL had skits that suggested Todd Palin has incestuous relations with his daughters?

If not, then Patterson just needs to get a spine

I love my blind, threesome-having, toot-sniffing black Governor.

I must agree with mofo88. It was exceedingly well done and quite funny.

Doesn’t go over the line.

More than blind, the man is dumb.

Well now. It seems we can’t have a laugh at anyone’s expense anymore. My beloved governor (I didn’t vote for him BTW, then again no one did) seems to be blind to the fact (pun intended) that it’s just comedy. Get over it cokeman. Get over it you thin-skinned piece of mortadella.

Remember the days when we all had a sense of humor? Now we can’t make fun of 6 eyed maggots without catching heat from some victim group. I’m watching Fox5 News and they are parading out some victim group to demand that NBC apologize for being classless. How about NBC apologize for Keith Overbite (Countdown to no ratings) being on Sunday Night Football? I change the channel whenever I see studio shots. I don’t even want the Nielsen people knowing I cruised by a channel that had that ingrate on it. Don’t get me started on Rachel MadCow.

It all became nightmarish to me, when some Italian American victim group started speaking out against the Sopranos. Some moron who ran the Columbus Day Parade in NYC didn’t want Lorraine Bracco to be there as a parade marshal, claiming that her portrayal of a female professional therapist was degading to Italian Americans. Marron, can you imagine the stugotz on this guy?

I don’t think it has to do with being PC. I laughed too, and then I just felt ashamed. I don’t know anything about the Governor, but the way they made fun of his blindness was pretty immature. I didn’t vote for Palin but I didn’t think Tina Fey was that funny. SNL is not witty or funny, now that Andy Samburg writes. Come on, Lamps that hold up the owners? I really really liked SNL when I was 13. But now that I’m older, I long for the days of Samuri Night Fever.

The appointee doesn’t have to be blind, Mr. Armisen says, maybe “someone with a gamey arm, or maybe giant gums with the tiny teeth.”

“Giant gums with tiny teeth” could be Caroline Kennedy. This might be a message from PEBO through his Pravda to select his favorite or make his shite list.

I live in NY, and the only reason why liberal SNL would make fun of Patterson was because the governor opposes income tax increases and wants to significantly slash the NYS budget. His decision to do this has ANGERED Democrats and liberals in my state. Go for him, but he still needs to pay the piper.

But the ironic thing here is that SNL has portrayed Bush as incompetent and dumb for the past nine years, and no news report has never questioned if they went too far.
