Jesse Jackson Jr on Blagojevich: He’s mental

posted at 6:30 pm on December 12, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

True, or just expedient? I’m thinking both. Blago’s unsoundness of mind is indeed a convenient talking point in how it shifts blame for Hot Rod’s corruption away from Illinois’s culture while preemptively discrediting any testimony he might end up giving against the machine. That logic probably figured in the state AG’s “unfitness” petition today, too. The “crazier” Blagojevich is, the less political damage he can do. And yet … acquaintances were saying this about him months ago, if not years. Were they all crooked and simply lying to try to scapegoat him in advance? Anything’s possible in Chicago, but I’m skeptical.

Incidentally, if you’re having trouble keeping track of the many, many allegations against him, good news — your troubles are over.

Blagojevich may have a mental capacity issue.

I thought that was a prerequisite for the Democratic party.

Negro pleeze!

Mercy4Me on December 12, 2008 at 6:37 PM

It now looks more and more that these guys belong to different gangs. Obambi is with the Emanuel’s gang, and then you have the Jacksons gang (Jessie, not Michael), and Blago belongs yet to another gang. What’s really bad is that all these gangsters are paid for by tax payers while fighting for their territories. :(

Notice how Blago is mental only after he gets caught in public. Where was Junior six months ago?

I see crazy people.

faraway on December 12, 2008 at 6:59 PM

The more people say he’s crazy, the more likely they think the Illinois Supreme Court might remove him and spare the legislature the messy business of impeachment.

But what’s the evidence? He talks dirty? So does his wife. So does Jesse “Cut his nuts off” Jackson, Sr.

He tries to sell political patronage? Is every pol in Chicago crazy, then? Or just the convicted ones>

These could be broad hints to Blago to take one for the team, and plead some kind of breakdown due to the stress of office, etc.

Resign, nice plea bargain with Fitz if he can, wife taken care of by voluntary donations from concerned friends (just like Freddy Baron looked after Edwards’ mistress). Probably still gets his Illinois and Congressional pensions, too.

Maybe U of Illinois-Chicago could get him a gig teaching political science down the hall from Ayres when Blago would get out of the slammer.

profitsbeard on December 12, 2008 at 7:08 PM

Personally I’m hoping that he refuses to resign, appoints himself as senator before Monday and vigorously fights any attempt to declare him unfit to serve, purely for entertainment value of course.

I’ve always wondered what would happen if, say, Obama just decided to nominate Jenna Jameson to be the next attorney general but otherwise acted completely rationally. What would happen? Impeachment? “Unfit” is kind of a relative concept.

Corrupt Dem sneaks one by = Political Genius

Corrupt Dem gets caught = Mental Patient

Now we know why the Dems went ballistic over Bush’s wiretapping to catch terrorists. Sometimes you go fishing for tuna and end up catching a hammerhead.

fogw on December 12, 2008 at 7:10 PM

Apparently democrats aren’t very perceptive. Obama hangs out with Ayers, Rezko, Wright and assorted other guys and gals of disrepute and seemingly has to wait until someone else brings up their problems before he notices.

The democrats in Illinois have been dealing with Blagojevich for years and it takes FBI wiretaps to clue them in?

C’mon … this excuse is so lame the general public might not even buy it … even if every network and newspaper repeats it 24/7 for a year.

…I really don’t understand the time being exhausted on this matter….

…Blagojevich is a Chicago politician…that’s all we really need to know…a Chicago Democrat, to be sure…for all the noise, smoke, mirrors and gnashing of teeth, he’s just another crooked Chicago pol, upon which Chicagoans look with an indulgent eye and apparently feel to be their lot….

…the only difference between a Chicago pol and a cockroach? The pol doesn’t scurry away when you turn the lights on…they look on it as an opportunity to show off….

(Apologies to cockroaches, silverfish, leeches and vermin everywhere for that last comparison, by the way.)

…he’s almost certainly tied to Obama, but Obama will be protected, so turning the that light will signify nothing…it’s just time wasted….

…this does show up a weakness in the “senator appointed by governor” formula…but it wouldn’t've been the first powerful national office up for grabs….

…I just think that someone as obviously sleazy is a stain on his constituents…he’s just behaving according to his nature…he’s a Chicago Democrat…it’s his electorate who should hang their heads….

…Chicagoans with Blagojevich, Minnesotans with Franken, all those brain-dead Californians and Yankees voting Pelosi and Frank in year after year….

…sometimes I worry about the “demos” in democracy…maybe we should repeal that Constitutional amendment about literacy tests….

I’m not a weathered observer of politics, but I am old enough to remember the Iran-contra scandal. “If Reagan knew what was going on, he was criminal and should be impeached. Red State State of Mind on December 12, 2008 at 7:34 PM

As a Chicagoan (transplant from East Coast), I have to say this has been the best week ever. I always said that every year in Chicago my life’s gotten better, but seeing all the Obama crap around town had been putting that theory to the test. I just hope it hasn’t peaked this week, but I doubt it has. I hate all those Democrat scum running the city and the state. I hope Blago starts talking and doesn’t shut up until sometime in late 2009. You know the Dems are desparate if they’re willing to antagonize him by calling him “mental”. They know what he knows. I just hope it’s enough to bring Obama down, which would be sweet beyond measure. The country deserves better (well, 48% of it does, anyway).

venividivici on December 12, 2008 at 7:35 PM

Rush made a good point today about how al Qaeda terrorists at Club Gitmo are presumed innocent by Democrats while they’re all too quick to declare Blagojevich guilty and ship him off to the mental house.

JammieWearingFool on December 12, 2008 at 7:37 PM

If Blago did start talking, the Dems have set the stage for, “Don’t believe anything he says. He’s crazy.”

They must be afraid he’ll talk. He won’t go quietly and can’t meet with an “unfortunate accident,” given all the publicity.

canditaylor68 on December 12, 2008 at 7:43 PM

It’s off to the gulag or the mental hospital, eh? The Dems have learned well how to dispose of political enemies from their Marxist masters.

JJJr is just another exhibit that the ACORN nut doesn’t fall far from the tree, the Rev’rund Jackson.

In related matters: The latest game in PEBHO’s smoke-filled transition headquarters, spreading in popularity from the Chicago environs to the Washington axis is “Where’s Rahm-bo?”

Tiny Dancer was last seen vigorously applauding and calling for repeated encores at his children’s concert until he felt that it was safe to leave the building. Cameras, microphones, and distracting questions would spoil the festive holiday mood post- performance.

Another scenario is that he and Candidates #1,#2,#3,#4,and #5 are role playing along with Advisor A and Advisor B as they all coordinate their covers/memories. (PEBHO says that this effort will take several days.)

First, though, the role players will try to guess if there is enough detail in the transcripts to identify them. Then by taking turns in these various roles and that of the prosecutor Fitz, they practice responses to the most incriminating charges against them. They use for a script the released wiretap transcripts in order to guide their defenses. Rahm-bo generates an air of tension to create an atmosphere of intense Fed interrogation by repeatedly stabbing a steak knife into the table. The weakest player gets a dead fish as a thanks-for-playing prize.

(Scratch that scenario above. Candidate #1 took herself out of the contention, having secured herself a sinecure in the White House. It’s amazing what being a manager of public-housing slums financed through Rezko can do for the ambitious, Jarrett claims.)

Blago promises to sing to the Feds if they will accept his promise to deliver the super-secret valuted PEBHO birth certificate in exchange for a gentle cell mate. (He’ been roughed up enough by Patti Pottymouth and her dad.

Merry Fitzmas and little pink supoenas to y’all!

BTW Who has been assigned to take Rahm-bo’s seat in the House? (Now we could be talking here about the House of Congress, the White House, or the Big House.)

JammieWearingFool on December 12, 2008 at 7:27 PM

Blago needs to cut a deal for witness protection and then spill his guts. I agree that he probably knows enough to take down a slew of Chicago pols.

He doesn’t impress me as being insane. He does have substantial financial problems which, besides being your usual Cook County crook, is probably the motivating factor. He also has a young family and certainly doesn’t want to see his wife locked up.

My guess is that despite the Dems and media circling the wagons with the “insane” claim, Blago will cut a good deal with the Feds. Heads will roll, possibly all the way to Daley, but Blago will do some time and then disappear after publishing a best seller.

Cody1991 on December 12, 2008 at 7:57 PM

You mean Obama’s political roots, don’t you? He’s a transplant, but his interest in advancing his “public service” career in Chicago began in his Columbia years.

Jesse Jackson Jr. was raising a cool million the weekend before the election for a Governor he now says is “mental”, who wasn’t even up for re-election.

What does that say about JJ’s mental state?

Blago is crazy like a fox.

Steve Z on December 12, 2008 at 8:06 PM

According to an article in the Chicago Sun-Times, Blagojevich’s hair is a sure sign of mental illness.

Gov. Blagojevich’s glossy locks — perfectly sculpted in rain or snow — may be an indication of a sickness beneath his scalp, said one local psychologist.

Now we know what’s wrong with the Kennedys as well.

Jesse Jackson Jr on Blagojevich: He’s mental

So as an elected official and political muckety-muck in Illinois politics why didn’t J.J. Jr move to have Blago investigated/removed from office? Or is the theory that Blago hit his head getting out of his bathtub the a couple of days ago?

Man, these pols will say anything and, for the most part, they go unchallenged by the MSM.

Y-not on December 12, 2008 at 8:12 PM

I am impressed with JJJ’s clear thoughtful speaking.
This is the first time I have heard him speak. God what a cut above his crazy-ass ol’ man.

TheSitRep on December 12, 2008 at 8:13 PM

JJJr doth protest too much. This whole episode is like a lady’s mud wrestling tournament and the pigs are all slopping in the Illinois mud. Springfield and Chicago…yes they are all mad, stark raving. I lived in Chicago under the real boss Daley and frankly it was a city very well managed and prospered. Jr. Daley isn’t and won’t be the same. The corruption scooper machine runs every morning through the streets of Chicago collecting…collecting…collecting. Rahm is squirming very badly these days. If Blago is branded as a few slices short of a full loaf, he will take some down with him.

I found this comment at the justoneminute site:

“You guys should check out the Capitol Fax Blog. It’s perhaps the best independent source for news about politics in Illinois. They have all the emerging developments in this story.

Capitol Fax Blog…http://thecapitolfaxblog.com/2008/12/12/tribune-jackson-buddies-discussed-raising-1-mil-for-blagojevich/

Blagojevich’s fundraisers have had their offices raided by the Feds A WEEK AGO. Most of this appears related to Rezko singing to save himself. I’ll repost here what I did at CapFaxBlog.

From the Tribune story about the meeting at the India House…

Iftekhar Shareef, past president of the influential Federation of Indian Associations, said he attended the Saturday fundraiser for the governor at the invitation of Bedi and Nayak. Shareef said the congressman’s brother Jonathan also attended.
“Raghu [Nayak] is always talking about how we need to appoint Jesse to the Senate,” Shareef said. “They are very close. Raghu is close with all the Jacksons. He even asked me to write a letter to the governor supporting Jesse Jackson for the Senate.” Shareef said he wrote the letter.

Why would Raghu “need” Jesse Jackson Jr. as a United States Senator?

The Feds have been digging into records at Mutual Bank Corp., Amrish Mahajan’s bank and a himself a huge Blagojevich fundraiser, in regards to the Rezko land deal next to Obama’s home. Doesn’t it appear that Rezko is singing all sorts of tunes?

These raids are all coming just weeks after we learned about Rezko singing and the civil suit filed by former Mutual Bank credit analyst Kenneth Connor for wrongful firing.

12/10/2008: Raghuveer Nayak Tribune story

12/5/2008: Tribune story about raid of two locations owned by Nayak

The criminal complaint against Blagojevich and Harris and their arrests on Monday was highly unusual, but they now appear to be mere role players for a corruption ring. Fitz was able to get wiretaps for a sitting governor. How many wiretaps for non government officials has he been able to obtain?

This looks huge.”

Am I wrong or was declaring people crazy a favorite tactic of Uncle Joe Stalin and his regime. Look up Psikhushka or “Punative Psychiatry”

Gee, Elect a marxist and the regime starts following right in the footsteps of a certain homicidal Georgian. Way to go 52 percenters…

Spoil sport, can’t you see we all are having such fun since Nov. 4th?

So you are saying we should conserve our glee cause this will be the norm the next four years?

Liberalis IS a mental disorder.

Soon we will know if Blagojevich is an old hand or an amateur.

I thought they (the politicians) always have the ‘goods’ on the other before they will deal/play game.

If Blagojevich have the goods (hard evidence), then he’s not crazy, he’s smart.

If Blago can only ’sing’, the deal he cuts with the Feds probably will not be as he hoped.

Whenever the moment comes for me, I like to expand on the Savage saying by intoning that…

LIBERALISM IS, HAS BEEN, AND ALWAYS WILL BE, FOR FOREVER AND A DAY, A MENTAL DISORDER!

Who can believe what any of them says anymore.

I laughed at the words “He’s mental”. Reminds me of Ron Wheatley.
