To think, our favorite liberal will never know the joy of being derided in song on national television as a token, chair-filling nonentity. I’m feeling better about this Hannity solo gig already.
Special bonus: Oates looking marginally less like Baba Booey than he ever has before.

No comment – anything funny I could say might get me banned.
Vashta.Nerada on December 12, 2008 at 1:03 PM
Do I admit to having “Out of Touch” on my iPod or not? That is the question.
Pasalubong on December 12, 2008 at 1:05 PM
MSM will soon be in line for a bailout. No need for Colmes to be on Fox any longer. All he ever did was spout DNC talking points. Talk about an easy gig.

Stay classy yourself.

Who is hall&oats? I thought it might be a cereal.

I wonder what type of tribute The Daily Show will give Joe Scarborough when MSNBC gives him the boot.

LMAO @ Hannity shining the flashlight on Colmes
lodge on December 12, 2008 at 1:11 PM
I thought I was the only one that noticed he looked like Dell’Abate with much better teeth.
And i really think Alan presented the liberal side pretty well. He even made me think at times, unlike most other liberal TV talking heads.
Excuse me while I pile on:

or CFKFH&O, for short.
dmh0667 on December 12, 2008 at 1:14 PM
Daily Show is so desperate for something that they re-hashed an SNL joke of months ago during Weekend Update when Hall & Oats were split on who they supported for president. However, this dumb show is now using the real Hall & Oats dedicating to Alan.
Hannity should be proud that he is threatening to Hall&Oats and Stewart.

Who is hall&oats? I thought it might be a cereal.
lol Man I am getting old.

Colmes is a jerk. Glad he’s gone.

Sean can’t go for that–no can do!

Currently residing in the Where Are They Now file.
I’m glad they were able to get time off from their dishwashing jobs to remind the public that they’re still alive.
Not to say relevant but alive nonetheless.

I can’t go for that. No can do.
Actually, the darned video won’t load for me.

Don’t worry, Sean and Alan will be back together again, singing the same old story…
Christien on December 12, 2008 at 1:25 PM
Was there some contractual obligation for them to switch who has the facial hair during certain decades?
Wait… I don’t mean to insinuate they have some sort of recording contract.
I hope the proceeds from their cover of Jingle Bell Rock are holding up.
rihar on December 12, 2008 at 1:27 PM
Gee, after all these years, Hall and Oates still suck. Who’d a thought.
Torch on December 12, 2008 at 1:32 PM
When I first saw the image I immediately thought of Baba Booey.

I guess Air Supply wasn’t available…
landshark on December 12, 2008 at 1:33 PM
I’ll always have good memories of H&O from my childhood when my mom had a bunch of their albums. Nothing this post can do will change that! IT WON’T! I WON’T LET IT!!
;_;

Good thing they didn’t play “Maneater”.
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on December 12, 2008 at 1:35 PM
Little known fact: the third guy on guitar behind them?
Alan Colmes.
Cuffy Meigs on December 12, 2008 at 1:37 PM
Pretty funny. Seriously though, what the hell happened to the little guy’s face?
And that hair. Is that a sign of mental illness?
JammieWearingFool on December 12, 2008 at 1:38 PM
Talk about out of touch…
Kensington on December 12, 2008 at 1:41 PM
Alah, Your’re outta touch, but Gov. Palin, she’s gone. You may need to hire some private eyes. But still, you make my dreams come true as long as Sarah smiles even though she’s really not a rich girl – you’re such a maneater.
juanito on December 12, 2008 at 1:53 PM
A tribute to Skeletor? The koom-ba-ya lets hold hands and drink a coke in perfect harmony Skeletor?
The Skeletor that has no balls because his wife won’t let him go out of the house with them, the same Skeletor that was the first American to surrender to fascist Islam?
Me thinks a better tribute for Skeletor would be from Helen Reddy singing “I am woman” more fitting because Skeletor is such a limp wristed pacifist wimp!
Liberty or Death on December 12, 2008 at 1:56 PM
OK I spewed my coke on that one!
Aggie85 on December 12, 2008 at 1:57 PM
Don’t worry-you didn’t miss anything.
I am so ashamed I had a poster of H&O on my wall in 1986-1987.
Ugh.

that was actually pretty funny.
farwell alan.
nice career move (to oblivion).

Gonna miss Colmes, but he’s not the only lefty on Fox.
There’s still Shemp Smith.

I went to high school with John Oates…. beat him up then and he was two years older than me…. still don’t like their music…..hah!
MNDavenotPC on December 12, 2008 at 2:17 PM
Now Hannity has to invite Ted Nugent to salute Colmes’ goodbye.
shick on December 12, 2008 at 2:18 PM
I’ll admit to having Daryl Hall on my iPod, but only “Sacred Songs” that he made with Robert Fripp of King Crimson, and Fripp’s “Exposure” with Daryl Hall singing.
So, yeah, prog music but not prog politics.
Still, pretty funny.
NeighborhoodCatLady on December 12, 2008 at 2:19 PM
My original assessment of these guys (from sometime in the late 70’s) is vindicated. Talentless hacks. Seriously, those “harmonies” at the end — oy! “I can’t go for that – no can do”.
Also, who was the homeless guy who came on stage with them? Did they know he was there? Can’t they accompany themselves, even with two guitars? And if they can’t, couldn’t they afford someone who grooms himself? That was by far the most entertaining part of the song.
Q: How are Hall & Oates like Britney Spears?
A: They’re both nothing but two talentless boobs.
RegularJoe on December 12, 2008 at 2:22 PM
Dead Lord, please tell me I won’t be as ashamed of Coldplay in 20 years as the generation before me must be for Hall & Oates right now ….
Ludwig on December 12, 2008 at 2:22 PM
Did/will this air on FNC?
Valiant on December 12, 2008 at 2:35 PM
Funny how in the clips of people being “rude” to Colmes they failed to include the asinine things Alan said just prior to being bitch-slapped.
Sugar Land on December 12, 2008 at 2:35 PM
You mean… you’re not ALREADY??
Actually, for some of us it’s not that we’re “ashamed of H&O”; it’s more that we’re proud to have never wasted any time or money on them (a couple of caveats; I looked them up to check for sure I was right about when I would have become aware of them; and I just noticed they did one really good song I didn’t realize was them: ‘Sara Smile’. They also did the original “She’s Gone”, the song they’re parodying here; but of course their version stunk, and it was the Tavares cover that was awesome).
RegularJoe on December 12, 2008 at 2:36 PM
No, that’s a union guy. I think it’s in the show’s contract. Either that or he just wandered on stage.
manwithblackhat on December 12, 2008 at 2:44 PM
the daily show is unwatchable
Locrian on December 12, 2008 at 2:47 PM
Colmes left because he found memorizing DNC talking points too ‘taxing’ on his mind. He arranged his golden parachute with Geico… returning to do more of their caveman ads.
Someone please let me know when he’s gone, as I may try watching FNC at 9:00 PM again.
petefrt on December 12, 2008 at 2:50 PM
Didn’t do a very good job of it, as he still tries to sing.
petefrt on December 12, 2008 at 2:51 PM
OK, so I bit on it and went to Comedy Central’s Daily Show site out of curiosity to see if they had posted anything about Blagojevich’s auctioning off Obama’s senate seat. I mean, it seems like pretty big news, and since they are a fake news show, you would think they would cover it, right?
And they do, sorta kinda, but Jon Stewart handles it by making fun of Blago’s name and the history of corruption in Illinois, specifically in the governor’s office. I watched all 4 videos posted about Blago, and NOT ONCE does Stewart mention the names Obama, Emanuel, Axelrod, Jarret, Jackson, or anyone remotely linked to the President-elect Messiah. Some of the news clips he uses do mention Obama’s vacant seat, but that’s as close as they get to mentioning The One.
And now The Daily Show has conveniently gone on hiatus until after the holidays…coincidence?
Here are the clips
ornery_independent on December 12, 2008 at 2:54 PM
Sorry…I should have posted the above in a Blago thread.
Getting back on topic, I can’t wait for Colmes to go. It will save me from diving for the MUTE button every time he opens his mouth to talk over their guests. I mean, really, did he ever let a conservative answer a question without stepping all over their answer?
ornery_independent on December 12, 2008 at 3:03 PM
Just when I thought Jon Stewart couldn’t be more of a douchebag, he goes and proves me completely wrong…
VoxRobotica on December 12, 2008 at 3:07 PM
They’re just mad about prop 8.
Laura in Maryland on December 12, 2008 at 3:27 PM
Was it me or did Hall & Oates look like Claymation figures with the heat on? Oates looked like he was shiny & melting.
As for Jon Lebowitz, what a classless jerk-face. My Christmas miracle would be for him to be caught brought out in handcuffs of a bath house after a police sting with news cameras rolling. Who’s laughing now Jonny?

Jeez, I used to like these guys. Who knew they were just a couple of unhinged libs. And John Liebowitz is a d**k.
godhelpus on December 12, 2008 at 4:29 PM
BWAHAHAHAHA!!! The derivative, crappy, quasi-emo COLDPLAY? The lead singer who is a self-proclaimed marxist that flies separate from the bandmates in his own private jet? HA!
I bet you listen to Nickelback too. Hehehe…
robblefarian on December 12, 2008 at 4:33 PM
Alan Colmes: Never had an original thought…
Hall & Oats: Two totally shot-out relics…
Jon Stewart: Sophmoric as it gets…
What’s really funny, though, is that so many think this is a real talent pool.
Gang-of-One on December 12, 2008 at 5:09 PM
Perhaps, but by any stretch they’ve had an amazing career in a biz where 99.99999 are never heard from.
They’ve earned the right to be dopes.
mylegsareswollen on December 12, 2008 at 5:18 PM
Boy, Hall & Oats really suck…
I saw Hall on some cable concert thing akin to “Unplugged”. I’d rather listen to fingernails dragging a chalkboard than that old, dried up piece of shoe leather.

Update: The only douche bag on that show is Jon Stewart.
Sgt. Hartman on December 12, 2008 at 8:20 PM
I don’t think that I’ve had anything from Hall and Oates that wasn’t 8-track. That fact aside, Hall and Oates remain a vital force and influence on my every day life.
MoCoM on December 12, 2008 at 11:44 PM
Oh no. Because they are still so revelant and kids today will still care what they have to think…

That song was awful.
winged on December 13, 2008 at 11:45 AM
Hannity has responded. Here is his comeback.
“I was actually thinking of Jon [Stewart] as a co-host but I needed someone who could be smart and funny without 50 writers and two has-been rockers who are badly in need of Botox.”
lavell12 on December 13, 2008 at 11:50 AM
Wow.
I love some of their old music, but . . . they’re really getting to be jackasses in their old age.
Guess that just means they’re in good company with Stewart.
