I certainly wasn’t looking for an ideological left turn on the international front. Obama was always a foreign policy opportunist, and I worried considerably more about sheer ignorance. His central agenda has also always been domestic. He’s not stupid; he knows he needs a robust economy to pay for HHS & Education. Daschle is no centrist, and Edu is the appointment I’m waiting to see — unless Obama made it in the last couple of days when I wasn’t paying attention.

It’s possible that Obama got scared into reality when he started getting intelligence and national-security briefings from the Bush Administration–”Gee whiz, by golly these dictators ARE dangerous, what if they are not convinced by my sweet words of peace and wisdom, what do I do then?” Maybe he HAS decided to delegate foreign policy to wiser heads and take the credit for their policies. But on domestic policy, he WILL have a solid majority in the House, and 58 Senators, who will do their d@mnedest to pull him to the left–Obama could become very dangerous once those pesky old Republicans are out of the way…

By the way, if people really wanted somebody to take on those big, bad oil companies, they could have voted for someone who did–Sarah Palin! But facts don’t matter, she ain’t got no ejakashun, ya gotta trust the cool community organizer from Hahvid and Shy-town who knows where it’s at, until it’s time to do something.

Yeah, I get a lot of flack for that but what people who call me racist don’t get is that it is a true homage to the blaxploitation flicks of the 1970′s — specifically a 1972 film called Black Caesar. Investment in infrastructure is one of the very few things the Federal Government can do that has a chance of boosting the economy.

What FDR did during the Great Depression was hardly an investment in infrastructure. It was make work projects as you stated, big difference.

The last truly big Federal Government investment in public infrastructure was the Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways, I.E. the interstate highway system. This system of roadways has been an economic driver in many, many ways, and did boost local, state, and national economies. However, much of the highway system has not been maintained adequately and is a terrible state of disrepair. It needs fixing and upgrading.

There are certain types of infrastructure helpful for business that only the Federal Government can provide, and done right provides a huge boost to the economy. Transportation and utility services would not be possible without government involvement as they are needed to condemn the land required for this type of infrastructure. While this power can and is abused, it is still necessary for government to be involved in infrastructure development. Also, this is one of the few things I’ve heard the Federal Government purpose recently that is actually in the Enumerated Powers, so it is actually the Federal Governments constitutional duty to provide this kind of service. This is opposed to FDR’s unconstitutional make work harebrained ideas enacted during the Great Depression.

While I don’t wish any suffering on you, it might make your life easier if you were a bit less angry and actually had a clue.

Yep, that’ll fix it, bring in artists, poets, and musicians to parade before the throne of our great Gaius Barack Caesar.

Will more efficient roadways allow the free-market to create enough wealth to pay for the massive interest payments, let alone the cost of these programs? It is not like in the 50’s when you had no Interstate system.

If they cannot make the case that these programs will bolster the free-market they are makework bribes to construction companies and just more transfers of wealth from those who pay taxes to those who are not.

Of course it all depends on the details. Some roads need building, some roads are political paybacks. However, there are lots of bridges in the U.S. that are in serious need of maintenance. Until I see details that this is just political payoff I am not going to start criticizing this. At least these plans stick within the Federal Governments enumerated powers, unlike many, many, so called fixes purposed recently. The fact is that there is infrastructure that needs building and upgrading, if Obama builds/upgrades that infrastructure let’s not attack it because he is of the wrong party. Now if what gets built falls under massive government waste, let’s all attack him for wasting government money. Either way I am in favor for withholding judgment on this until more details are available.

It remains to be seen what Zer0 does as president (insert entire body shudder here) but it sure will be fun to watch the stars fall from the eyes of a good many of his voters!

He started running in 2012 as soon as he finished his acceptance speech (dare I say, during it). All he’s done is run for office, so he doesn’t know how to do anything else.

3) Unbridled Left. So far the Left has held its tongue, still basking in a return to power of liberal government and perhaps the most ostensibly leftwing President in our entire history. That means the centrist appointments and flip-flops are permissible for a time and contingent on heart-and-soul, true-believer policies and appointments to come. But if that should not materialize, and war, recession, and inflation take off the veneer of Obamania, then watch the rumbling escalate into 1968-like furor.
