Limbaugh: “I love Sarah Palin”

From Baba Wawa’s “10 Most Fascinating People of 2008″ special. I assume it’s his new contract and the lure of big ratings from righties that led ABC to put him on the list. Otherwise, the logic of saluting the power of conservative talk radio in a year when McCain won the nomination and Obama the election escapes me.
The clip raises a point I neglected in yesterday’s post about Huckabee vs. Palin: How does Huck expect to compete with her among the base when Rush, Hannity, Ingraham, et al. are head over heels for her? His relationship with Limbaugh in particular has been flatly antagonistic at times, with Rush phoning into Fox News after Huckabee won Iowa to declare him wanting as a Reagan Republican. Is Huck thinking they’re a non-factor, or is it that he expects to charm them sufficiently to make their preference for Palin tepid enough not to matter? As for Rush’s theory about why the media dislikes the ‘Cuda, how come they don’t seem to have a similar antipathy to a guy from Arkansas who used to eat squirrel? It can’t be the policy differences between the two; there simply aren’t that many. One possibility is that Huck was never part of a ticket that threatened The One. Another possibility: Barbara’s explanation is better.
Rush is right, though, about his comments on Hillary’s looks having come in the context of a broader critique of American culture, not as a sexist statement of his own views. Good thing Barbara didn’t know about the “testicle lockbox” or else she might have had a heck of an awkward follow-up. Exit question: When does Team Hillary finally get around to issuing a jokey statement laughing off every off-color goof he’s ever made about her?

It’s as if Sarah Palin has already been named as the de facto nominee for 2012, and so the left is treating her as the face of the opposition.
It’s as if they are already running their 2012 campaign because they’ve got a heads up on the GOP nominee. The only problem for us is that Sarah Palin has work to do in Alaska and can not be in full campaign mode now.
That won’t stop them from trying to take her out of the game now. Expect the smears to continue. They’re trying to make her ineligible to run.

She slips in the “conservative” label to somehow marginalize his success. I challenge Babawa to name a more “powerful and successful” radio host on the planet.

Er, I’m not kidding. This myth that the MSM supported Mike Huckabee in the primaries is total propoganda and it’s beneath anyone to even suggest such a thing. Sure, Huck is a gifted speaker, there is a certain charm about him because he has a Reaganesque ability to communicate. Y’know, you can’t help like listening to him talk. Huckabee was/is the only candidate that made any sense when they spoke. But, that didn’t translate into the liberal media supporting him and helping him to win the Republican nomination! The MSM cringe at even the suggestion of a true Bible-believing Christian in the White House! This couldn’t have been made more evident than the treatment Huckabee received at the two televised Republican debates hosted by MSNBC and CNN. It started off a little something like this. Anderson (bias) Cooper said at the beggining of the CNN debate, “The first question is actually a question that will go to all of you, but I’ll start with Governor Romney.” And that was pretty well the theme for the entire debate. They literally ignored him!
Then their’s the MSNBC debate. Here are the numbers:
Total Speaking/Face Times From MSNBC Republican debate.
Total Speaking Times
Romney: 21:11, during 13 times
McCain: 16:00, during 13 times
Giuliani: 13:50, during 11 times
Huckabee: 12:11, during nine times
As you can see the liberal media were forcing McCain and Romney onto us as the only candidates that we have to choose from. And the speaking times from the CNN debate was even worse!

RalphyBoy on December 7, 2008 at 6:40 PM
That’s right. Sure, Mike is a likeable fella who makes sense when he speaks, but reality is the MSM loathe true Bible-believing Christian candidates. They did not really support Huck. Neither did the Republican establishment — many of whom are anti-God too. Instead of Huckabee, the MSM and Republican Establishment had other plans and spoon fed us what we have now.

There are a lot of ‘republicans’ who seem to be scared to death of Palin. I just got back from our Republican club christmas lunch. I was talking with a guy from one of the other townships. This guy is a supposed leader and he seemed to be more favorable toward obama than palin. “Well, we need someone with experience, she doesnt’ have enough experience”
I reminded him that (1) Palin had an order or two of magnatude more executive experience than obama or biden and even more than Mccain (2) We need to run someone who will get republican voters out and freaking win.
I’m not sure what to make of the conversation but there are a couple of possibilities.
1. In spite of being a republican leader in a republican county, the guy really leans to the left
2. He has been mesmerized somehow by the Obama hypnotism.
3. He is entrenched in the old boy network and does not want a true reformer.
This guy was so busy saying how great obama’s cabinet choices were and then ripping Palin. I finally asked him “If it were between Palin and Obama, who would YOU vote for?” Set him back a little, but he finally stammered out “Palin”.
As in Alaska, Palin will have to fight the Democrats and a lot of the “republicans” in order to win. She’s has succeeded before and can do it again.
I had a thought about 2012. Obama got in because of the hype and hysteria he generated. In 2012, he will BE the establishment and I’m not sure he will generate as much enthusiasm and turnout.. one can hope…

the republican party will be as responsible for the end of this representative republic as the democrat party. The leadership has no principles, no ideas. They only want their place at the ruling table. There is a self annointed political elite in this country that is made up of both parties, the msm and alot of “conservative” pundits. they all think that we out here in the heartland are cattle and they are meant to lead us. this country is leaning over the precipice and I’m afraid all the weight has been shifted towards the abyss.
peacenprosperity on December 7, 2008 at 9:31 PM
Don’t know if you’re still on here,, but here goes an attempt. (and that’s all it is).
First a “moderate conservative position” would have to be a true conservative position.
A moderate conservative position on abortion, for example, would be supporting the ban on Partial Birth abortion. If McCain had made that an issue it would have really highlighted Obama’s radical support for the FOCA.
Another would be to support funding for research into what family structures are best for raising kids. The “gay adoption” lobby and their allies would explode and people would see that they really aren’t concerned about what’s best for kids.
Basically I mean supporting policies that cause the left to react in a way that would show moderates just how radical they are.
On Economic policy it would be to support a bailout bill for GM that removes regulations and taxes (e.g. gas taxes) that are hampering the industry, and is tied to opposition to card-check and support for right-to-work legislation.

Which failed in 2008.
But of course 2012 will be very different. Hopefully Palin will at least appear on TV, unlike last time around.
mycowardice on December 7, 2008 at 9:39 PM
But, again, if the Republican’s do run a candidate who takes a “moderate conservative” position on economic and social issues – moderate relative to Obama and the dem congress that is – to expose them for the radical leftists that they are the candidate will still need to energize the conservative base of the party, energize them big time.
The only one who has the credibility with the conservative base to do this is Palin. IMHO.

Number 6 is especially interesting. Y’know, I mentioned to somebody earlier. Jesus Christ said “every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment” (Matthew 12:36). Every unnecessary (ie, idle, empty) word we will have to give an account of in the day of judgment. You are going to stand before God and explain these railing accusations, Mr Peacenprosperity. It is clear that you do not understand what the Scripture teaches – what God’s Word says. As I mentioned, Jesus said that “every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment” (Matthew 12:36). Evidently, the words men speak will have a bearing on their degrees of reward in heaven, or degrees of suffering in hell. Flip over now to the last book of the Bible, the Book of Revelation. The Bible says that, “All liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone” (Revelation 21:8). Did you catch that? “The Bible says, “All liars, will have their part in the lake (of fire).” No thief, no adulterer, no fornicator, no blasphemer, will inheret God’s kingdom. Liars are those who practice deception and falsehoods, so if Mr Peacenprosperity is lying when he blasphemes Mike Huckabee and calls him a phony, a hate filled man, an unsaved man (ie, not a Christian), a bigot, a criminal sympathizer, and one of the biggest villians in US history, according to the Bible, he is in danger of spending his eternal life in HELLFIRE. So where was I exaggerating? Well….

I know that it is impossible to read the mind of anybody, especially an conservative, intellectual giant like Rush Limbaugh but let me speculate to 10 reasons that Rush made these comments on Barbara Walters’ special using Rush’s own words:
2)”She knows who she is”
4)”When conservatism is tried, it wins each and every time.”
6)’she is more forceful than anybody in speaking out against Obama and his ideas’
8)’Authentic’
10)”She’s smart. She’s enthusiastic. She’s got a core belief system; she has lived a rich and genuine life, She defines what American life is all about.”

Buckaroo on December 8, 2008 at 1:11 AM
Hold on a minute, Buckaroo. You just accused me of exaggerating when I warned Mr Peacenprosperity that he could go to hell for lying and blaspheming somebody. Then after I proved for you that what I was saying was Scripturally correct (that mankind can go to hell for lying) you didn’t apologize to me for your being wrong. I see no reason for this cowardice except maybe Proverbs 28:1, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” The Scriptures are clear. “All liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone” (Revelation 21:8). There are several other warnings in the Bible as well like, “He that speaketh lies shall not escape” (Proverbs 19:5). And, “A false witness (liar) shall not be unpunished.” (Proverbs 19:5). This warning against lying is repeated throughout Scripture. The Ninth Commandment says, “Thou shalt not bear false witness (lie) against thy neighbour” (Exodus 20:16). And the final great warning dealing with this crime is in Revelation 21:27 and 22:15, “And there shall in no wise enter into it (heaven) any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” Jesus Christ is “the truth” and God’s “Word is truth” (John 14:6) so God hates “a false witness that speaketh lies” (Proverbs 6:16;19). I find it amazing you call yourself a Christian and you have the audacity to argue with me on this. If hell was a literal place that you go to after you die, would you want to be warned of it’s existence?

She tells Billy to bar Julie from ever riding on the carousel again. Now update the scenario to 2008. The shrew represents Obama and the MSM, the barker represents the voters and Sarah Palin is Julie. The only difference is that the MSM presumptuously holds itself out as representing the voters telling its ‘membership’ not to have anything to do with Sarah because she is perceived to be a threat and competition. That’s easy: Palin has potential to appeal to a large cross-section of the public and Huck’s appeal is limited to a niche within the GOP.

The niche candidate or the more candidate with potential for broad appeal?
The Democratic Party Media Consortium focuses on the credible threat, not the Incredible Sulk.

SKYFOX on December 8, 2008 at 5:13 AM
Here are 10 approaches that I believe that the GOP should take to appeal to more voters without jeopardizing its core principles:
2)that believing in pro-life and artificial contraception, family planning and sexual freedom between consenting adults is not mutally exclusive
4)a compulsory course in all schools that teach the basis and reasons for the founding of America, the importance and beliefs of the founding fathers, and how these beliefs are reflected in the founding documents–the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other Amendments to the Constitution
6)declaration of a children’s manifesto dealing with issues of parental custody, school bullying, respect of adults for children and vice versa, children vs the internet and providing a decent education including being exposed to all views on politics, religion and sex
8)to ensure that the MSM identify and clearly define the roles of a reporter, interviewer, commentator/columnist, resident pundit, specialist guest or political party hack when segments are introduced not to censor but to give the public advance notice of what they are going to see at a given time: fact, revelation, bias, opinion, educated guess, or propaganda similar to the rating system for movies
10)the opposition to any measure, law or compulsion that tells one how to operate or conduct his or her business that is detrimental to its best interests (does not preclude civil lawsuits) and the affirmation that business involves risk and possible failure and deserves no taxpayer bailout if it indeed does fail

I particularly found her point about his “aging-older women” interesting. He obviously was defending the plight of women but she simply didn’t want to let him be nice enough to be a woman support.
“Let’s just end it at that.”
And then, “Can you say something nice about President elect Obama?” She was probably surprised that he was capable.
But she is an elite and a prejudicial one at that.

CORRECT – The MSM KNOWS that Huckabee connects with avg people, and it scares them. They’ll be forced to give him more face time when he rolls into the picture with a boatload of money to advertise. Huck will kick a**.

Let the left “treat her [Palin] as the face of the opposition”. The more attention the left, and the media, draw to Sarah Palin, the more she will shine.
Sarah Palin DOES have lots of work to do in Alaska. Alaska received lots of tax revenues when oil prices spiked last summer, but she’ll have to tighten her budgets this year and adapt Alaska to a leaner government.
The left and the press got their man elected, and starting January 20, it will be up to him and his team to govern, not just make speeches, and any failures will be pinned on Obama. If they start focusing their attention on Sarah Palin, her competence and good sense will become evident to the voters relative to Obama’s lurching all over the political spectrum like a rusty weathervane, and a few stumbles with Katie Couric will fade from the voters’ minds. To paraphrase a former President, the left won’t have Bush to kick around anymore, and if they focus on Palin, her record will look good compared to that of Obama, and her ability to deal with the media will probably improve with experience.
The smart strategy for the left would be to ignore Sarah Palin, but they probably fear her too much to leave her alone.

Here goes Poptech with his tiresome fake Palin resume again. I’ve seen it here at least a dozen times and lost track of how many times it’s been debunked. Poptech posts the same crap at Newsbusters and God knows where else.
Can’t even get her religion right.

Because the guy from Arkansas is a useful tool/idiot. He can easily be led down the path by his own ignorance.
Palin is not.
Rush has 20 million listeners. If they all voted against McCain in the Primary, McCain would still win the primary Further, the primary field was salted to split the vote.
Rush does have power. He has the power to keep the conservative core informed and alive. He keeps that audience because they need someone to communicate their issues.
Without Rush the GOP/RNC would fill the void as ‘conservative voice’. That leaves 20 million people with no voice.
Without a central communication point mass movements become fragments of disgruntled voices and lose their influence.
For that Rush is very powerful indeed
Rush did not much favor anyone in the primary because it was obvious he was not crazy about the field. When Palin surfaced, and started acting like the type of Americans Rush admires, he gravitated to her
Rush has shared with his audience the snubs he has taken from the RINOs (Get over it heckling etc). He has also discussed the contempt the party elites have for the hicks. Read party emails to feel the contempt.
Palin was categorized as one of the hicks, and the more they slurred her, the more Rush picked up on her identification with the great unwashed. He isn’t playing with the audience. He is stating his opinion, which I share. Palin has become symbol of the people the upper GOP wishes would disappear, Rush is already in that category, along with – me
If you think he had no influnce remember the amnesty bills

What is with this bizarre fascination with Huckabee? I don’t get it. A cursory review of his record will reveal that the differences between him and Palin are vast. Who cares what he SAYS? We all complained about Obama running with no record to stand on. Huckabee has one and yet I am mystified that his supporters are so besotted with the guy that they will overlook the empirical evidence that the man is NOT a conservative.

I say, let them underestimate her. Her critics always do. And they’re always shocked when she comes back and wins.
I read this in the Kaylene Johnson bio on Palin:
So let them underestimate her. Bring it on!
On and BTW, her $40 billion natural gas pipeline is still on track to getting us that much closer to energy independence. I wonder when was the last time Poptech negotiated a $40 billion international business contract which will be the largest private infrastructure project in North American history?
Just a Caribou Barbie…yep, keep underestimating her, suckas!

Poptech’s ‘fake resume’ for Sarah Palin is still more impressive than Obama’s real resume…that didn’t seem to stop people from voting for him.

You have misapplied the words of Jesus. The phrase “judge not” does not mean that everybody should just be nice, pat each other on the back, and let immoral conduct go on as if nothing ever happened. It doesn’t mean we haven’t the right to draw conclusions about wrong conduct and wickedness by others. You forget Mr. Australis, that we are told elsewhere in Scripture to “Try the spirits,” to “prove all things,” and to “beware of false prophets.” We are to use discernment and distinguish between the false and the true, but we are not to condemn others which I have not done. Jesus warns against condemning the actions or motives of others. Only the LORD has the right, since He has full knowledge of a person’s actions and motives.

All this talk about 2010 and 2012 is good for the GOP. Right now the MSM, except for sporadic attacks on Sarah are spending 98% of their time and effort on swooning over the legend of the Messiah as it daily unfolds. Every day brings us one day closer to first bursting the bubble of the Obama machine in 2010 and then ousting the Messiah in 2012. A Chambliss landslide victory and two GOP victories in the Louisiana state races is a good sign. Remember what Confucius said: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.”

Huntsman’s expertise on China is quite a nice bonus to any ticket. But two governors on the same ticket is very tricky. They risk being accused of having no foreign policy expertise.

There a few other difference that the ‘Cuda’ has done that Huck has not. She has unrepentantly defended conservative principals and called B.S. on the DPM (dem propaganda machine). Huck put in his digs too but not with the ferocity Palin executed. Also a few other have made this point but i think it has some validity to it. Huck was running against other (R) candidates so he may have the perception of attacking other (R)’s, where Palin was able to defend conservatism and attack the dems.

I think my personal favorite would be a Palin/Thompson ticket or even — and this one is way out there — a Palin/Gingrich ticket. The young reformer matched up with the wise old bird is the ticket. It worked for Bush 43 and Obama (With the help of the MSM, Biden was able to maintain the facade of being wise. No one questioned that he was old). I can’t think of any Senate Republican I would want as a vp candidate. (Here’s a freaky, funny, and frightening thought — Palin/McCain in 2012! Just kidding of course!)

I know over the last month that many of you have wondered what my fixation or my obsession has been over ‘white guilt’. Simply put I don’t find it rational that America would elect someone so inadequate based on work experience,so damaged by his associations, and so extreme in his views on radicalism, socialism and Marxism as a small-town mayor, let alone the President of the USA. So I have concluded you have to look to the world of the irrational and that brings me to white guilt. There are many facets to white guilt but it boils down to this-its Caucasians, male and female, feeling they psychologically need to be tolerant and super-generous, to publicly adhere to political correctness that promotes that the white man was despicable and savage in his exploitation of lands and darker races, and to listen up when the MSM (including pundits)spout off 24/7 on the historical wrongs and ‘outrages’ that need to be addressed despite Obama having certain flaws and then consciously deciding to yield to their best long-term interests, ignore what their brain is telling them, to deliberately ‘clue out’ to the consequences of the vote in order to somehow atone for being born with a certain pigment skin color and to overlook the conseqences of electing Hitler in 1933 and why and how he got the approval of the German electorate. Obama’s election just defies any logic that I have been brought up to observe. Ir’s cognitive dissonance on steroids.
technopeasant on December 8, 2008 at 4:55 PM
The irony is that Obama’s ancestors were never slaves. If white people subconsciously elected him to atone for the historical sin of slavery, then Obama got to ride in on other people’s pain because he is half white and half African. His father was from Kenya. His ancestors were Kenyans. They never wore shackles or were chased by hounds or whipped or forced to pick cotton. In fact, when the acestory.com people did a family tree of Obama they discovered that he’s related on his mother’s side to none other than…wait for it…Dick Cheney!
The only good thing to come out of this election is that perhaps our obsession with race will be able to fade away now that we’ve “proven” for all time that we’re not a racist country.
Is that wishful thinking?
