Breaking: Search for the real killers to be suspended for 15 years; Update: Fred Goldman unloads

posted at 2:13 pm on December 5, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Two clips, both delicious, one of this whimpering turd throwing himself a pity party, the other of the judge declining to attend. She emphasizes at 3:55 of the second vid that she didn’t take into account any matter not before the court. Right. Note the cross cuts to Fred Goldman sitting in the audience.

He and his wife daughter held a presser outside the courtroom but the clip’s not available yet. As soon as I have it, you will too. A fine ending to a slow week.

Update: It was worth the wait. “If our efforts for all these years of pushing him drove him to commit burglary, armed burglary, armed robbery, in Vegas — if that pushed him over the edge, great. Put him where he belongs.”

“If our efforts for all these years of pushing him drove him to commit burglary, armed burglary, armed robbery, in Vegas — if that pushed him over the edge, great. Put him where he belongs.”

They should push him off the edge of a stadium, where he’ll be hit by a van, run over with a steamroller, and then walked on by a marching band to the tune of “Louis, Louis”. (Here at 9:00) That’s just how my father went.

Been a tough day for you, hasn’t it? You’ll feel better tomorrow. It is probably hard to see a loved one go to prison. He will have visitation rights so just be patient. You may want to be on the alert,..I’ve heard he charges a tidy sum for autographs.

Crackheads at DU doin’ their usual thang……

Let’s see some of their greatest hits on this one.

Not buying it. he was set up here.
I wish they had the same energy and hatred for Bush and Cheney.

That one was cute. It got in a Bush/Cheney reference.

I agree, it was a sting set up to make a point to the AA community.

The rule of law applies to some people more than others.

Aaaaaaaah. There’s the racism card.

Seriously

Who gives a f*ck about that loser. Bush and Cheney are far worse. They’re mass/serial murderers.

Again, working the Bush angle.

I find myself watching his story in the same way you watch a horrible train wreck.

My ex used to complain that O.J. wrecked our chances at marital bliss because his story was blasted from about the same time we got married and that must have turned me against him.

So OJ is wrecking marriages (other than his own) now? WTF???

Surprisingly, though, some of their posts are actually lucid and rational.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on December 5, 2008 at 3:44 PM

To all you whiners….yes i said it. the Goldmann family are attention whores. They never saw a camera they didn’t like, making money off the death of their son. They are completely messed up, and psychotic.

Yeah well…watching how the Goldman’s maintained their composure while those assh*les continually yelled cruel taunts at them speaks volumes about their character.

If anyone is psychotic here, it’s Simpson’s supporters.

The Ugly American on December 5, 2008 at 3:45 PM

Sorry, speaking as someone who believes that OJ is a double-murderer and that the LA jurors who declared him “Not Guilty” were complete and utter morons and that justice was not served that day …

… I can’t help but feel that this trial and this verdict were influenced by that earlier miscarriage of justice and that w/out the spectre of that earlier trial hanging over the preceedings, I don’t think that OJ would have received the sentence he did and possibly not even the verdict.

Perhaps you’ll argue it’s all karma and things balance out in the end, but I would prefer a different outcome – today and 14 years ago.

PackerBronco on December 5, 2008 at 3:46 PM

A couple things — first, O.J.’s biggest mistake was in conducting his armed excursion in a Las Vegas casino. Had he and his buddies done this in someone’s home in Vegas he would have gotten away with time served. NEVER eff with a Vegas casino’s operations.

Second, I am so over Fred Goldman. Ever since he pushed to be allowed to publish OJ’s book on how he (would have) killed Fred’s son and Nicole, Fred showed that after 13 years his motivation is more money driven. I feel for the family and their loss but there is no getting away from the greed Goldman has latched onto.

grdred944 on December 5, 2008 at 3:47 PM

Chudi: I don’t know which is worse. Making the statement or standing by the statement. Anyone with any compassion at all would give the Goldmans the benefit of the doubt. You appear to have no imagination or ability to comprehend the devestation such a situation might engender in any human being. Should he have sat back and said nothing to anyone?; let the whole thing go? You are heartless, sir. Come back when you remember what it’s like to be human.

Live from Alcatraz, it’s Monday Night Football commentary, by the great USC and Buffalo Bills running back, O.J. Simpson!

I wonder if they’ll let him keep his beloved football memorabilia in prison…

15 years was the min. he could have gotten on the kidnapping guilty verdicts. The judge gave the min possible under law.

mylegsareswollen on December 5, 2008 at 4:08 PM

I wonder how that tough guy arrogant OJ personna is gonna go over with his fellow inmates, the ones who aren’t convinced he’s better than them, the ones who have nothing to lose from sticking a chiv in him.

Do you suppose there are many Aryan Nations gang members in OJ’s future home/prison? I wonder if OJ will be talking smack to them? Or the Hell’s Angels, perhaps?

Tantor on December 5, 2008 at 4:09 PM

Armed robbery, petty?

If someone did it to you, would you think it was petty?

hawkdriver on December 5, 2008 at 3:21 PM

If I’d stolen someone else’s merchandise (and if I were a criminal who tended to associate with other criminals), I’d have it coming.

In a lot of cases, murder doesn’t even get 15 years.

Getting every last cent out of OJ is one thing, but shilling for a book that brings back the chilling death of not only his son but of Nicole Brown is disgusting. Maybe he could be given a pass if he had relied on his son for family income and could cry poverty but this was an obvious money grab that even the Brown family thought was in completely bad taste.

No, here’s what happened. The next day OJ woke up
Said “Got to find the real killer”

Went down the hall to go the bathroom
Said “Got to find the real killer”

Went into the bathroom and used the toilet
Said “Got to find the real killer”

Next he went toward the sink to shave. Looked in the mirror
Said “Wow, that was easy. Guess it’s time to play golf”

It’s not justice for Ron Goldman and the Goldman family, or Nicole Brown Simpson and the Brown family, but it is Justice for Justice’ sake nonetheless.

He’s right where he belongs. He should be there for life, but 15 years will do.

It will be a long time before once again The Juice is on the loose.

Maybe he’ll breathe his last breath incarcerated and trapped in a small corner with no control over his demise staring his death in the face, helpless to fend it off… then Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson will have true justice.

I don’t care what anyone says about the Goldmans, they had a son/brother murdered brutally, they get a pass from me. God knows if I’d been in their position I wouldn’t have had the patience to wait as long as they did for justice, I’d have tried my own hand at it and to hell with the consequences.

The Goldmann family are narcissistic attention whores.

Chudi on December 5, 2008 at 2:57 PM

He KILLED Fred’s son and that lady’s brother! That poor Ron was, unfortunately, at the wrong place at the wrong time. There was NO REASON to butcher that guy as coldly as he was. None.

The long search for justice long delayed and denied is a RIGHT the Goldmans absolutely have. That is hardly narcissistic, but the right thing.

However, letting OJ off the hook for some racial reason constitutes a real case of narcissism.

“Hey, OJ beat the rap! ‘Bout time a ‘brotha’ got out scott free! Stick it to the white guy!” That was their chant in 1995. But as soon as the $27 million civil verdict came out, their laughter stopped. Are they now going to say that the NV justice system is “racist” because O.J. finally got his comeuppance? Here, have some cheese with your whine!

Or maybe, maybe they’re counting on a Presidential pardon down the road… Don’t laugh! Don’t discount anything nowadays!

newton on December 5, 2008 at 9:29 PM

I knew Fred Goldman, not real well, but he and I worked in the same industry (corrugated packaging) and we had met, prior to Ron being killed. He is a stand up guy, his family was great, nobody should have to bury their son.
Briefly saw him a year after the O.J. sentencing (at a grocery store), and he looked like someone beat him with a bat…just so tired looking, so drained, we briefly talked. What do you say to someone who’s son was killed, and then watched in detail, his murderer get off…it was just a hug, and said we have a prayer for you.
Until you meet someone like Fred, even briefly, you never really know pain.
I hope someday he will have peace…perhaps only if he outlives O.J.

Hey, folks; look up “jury nullification” and compare LA’s verdict thirteen years ago, and today’s Vegas jury verdict. Even if it’s (jury nullification) present, it works both ways, and how sweet it is when it is present in the context of this particular set of facts, on this particlar day…

Geochelone on December 5, 2008 at 10:34 PM

Mr. Goldman just did his fatherly duty: he stalked his prey patiently but relentlessly doing all he could do within the law to make the murderer of his son pay for his crime.

Fathers who love their children can relate to his commitment for revenge, desire for justice and his pain.

I suspect that the critics of Mr. Goldman come from a community in which a large percentage of the ‘men’ have no concept of the words “commitment” and “family” let alone what it feels like to achingly love ones child.

That’s a nice sentiment, but I am in North Carolina now, and I believe he still lives in South Laguna (Three Arch Bay), Orange County.
I hadn’t seen him in probably ten to twelve years…and I can’t believe the video when they said 14 years ago…man how time flies.
He is the type of guy who knew most everyone was supporting him…I don’t think he ever felt alone in the battle because of people like you and so many others that just plain supported him.
O.J. used to go to the Ritz Carlton in Laguna, Dana Point area…people would get up and walk out of the restaurant…I am pretty sure they asked him not to come back.
He moved to Florida, not only for the tax reasons, but because So. Cal (they are liberal, but not that liberal) wouldn’t tolerate him…and the places that would tolerate him, he would never go to…if you know what I mean.

right2bright on December 5, 2008 at 10:57 PM

The strangest part of today, on topic:

Grasso’s statement took an unusual turn at 12:21, when the attorney used an extended Civil War metaphor to justify the court’s leniency. (”I’m one of those people who thinks the Civil War can explain anything,” Grasso explained.) The attorney invoked Union general Ulysses S. Grant, whose pardon of the Confederate soldiers and immediate restoration of their citizenship promoted a sense of national healing in the wake of a catastrophic event.

Grasso, obviously a man of letters, spent nearly five minutes on the historical anecdote. Judge Glass appeared unamused.

OJ = Orange Jumpsuit!

Geochelone on December 5, 2008 at 11:01 PM

They sued OJ for the book rights so that OJ himself wouldn’t get any profit from it. That was the whole point. To TAKE his money, not to make money.

I have to tell you that I don’t know what I’d do if someone killed my kid like that. A young man that indeed was at the wrong place at the wrong time. And Nicole? I don’t care if she was the biggest hag on the planet, he darn near sawed her head off.

It was really hard for me to grok back then that this guy did such a heinous thing. But because of my working hours, I watched most of that trial in real time on television. No way was there any question that he did it. What was amazing is that he got away with it.

When the murders first happened, that day I had lunch with my then cop boyfriend. I kept saying ‘it can’t be him’ and he said ‘oh yeah, he did it’. I asked him to explain. He said if you’re going to just kill someone you don’t have to get your hands dirty to do it. Someone who gets offed by a drug dealer is just going to get shot. These murders required someone to put their hands ON the victims and did it with massive aggression and violence. “This was personal”.

I still couldn’t believe it so I watched the trial. The truth was all there. But because of Rodney King and that whole debacle, OJ was aquitted.

Justice is served, but only in the armed robbery case. The time for justice for Ron and Nicole is long over with. Maybe OJ will find the real killer of his wife in jail, eh.

The Goldmann family are narcissistic attention whores.

If a guy killed my son and got away with it I would be after him until the day he died. And I would absolutely celebrate wildly when he went to jail for something else. I’m glad they’ve been all over OJ since he murdered their kid – the Goldmans would be fu*king with OJ whether the media covered it or not. They’ve conducted themselves with grace and dignity over the years. It’s the media who have acted like whores.

In the summer of 1995, shortly before retiring from DEA, I was in Riga, Latvia doing a drug training course for a class of Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian cops. Our team was staying at the newly-built SAS Radisson Hotel, and we were able to follow world news on CNN. On the first day of our school, the students were asked if they had any questions. The first guy who raised his hand asked, “Who in the Hell is OJ Simpson?”

Today, I watched OJ Simpson sentenced to a long term in prison for his armed robbery caper in Las Vegas. Thirteen years earlier, I had watched the outrageous verdict in Los Angeles when a predominantly black jury ignored an avalanche of evidence and pronounced him, “not guilty”. The shocked reaction of most white observers, mixed with the jubilant reaction of most black observers set race relations back in this country for a while.

Today, it seems that America has moved on from OJ Simpson. I think most blacks realize by now that the guy is a bum-and a murderer to boot. Simpson pretty much stands alone today aside from his family and lawyers.

After Simpson and his co-defendant, Clarence Stewart, gave their statements, the judge took a tortuously long time in making her statement before pronouncing sentence. There was a reason for that; Judge Glass was “protecting the record” as they say-especially when she reiterated that Simpson’s murder case was playing no role in this case and her sentencing. (That removes any serious hope of Simpson’s lawyers appealing the conviction or the sentencing on grounds that their client was being punished for the murder case in which he got off.) By the way, Stewart, who stands to be the answer to a trivia question, got 15 years.

Even after Simpson’s sentence was pronounced, in which the most serious count got 15 years, there was confusion as to how long he must actually serve since there was a consecutive sentence imposed. It appears that Simpson will have to serve a minimum of 9 years before being eligible for parole and could serve as long as 33 years.

Once again, Fred and Kim Goldman were seated in the courtroom watching Simpson get his justice. They can take grim satisfaction from the fact that it was their never-ending campaign to hound Simpson with their civil judgement in Santa Monica that was a factor in pushing him to commit the deed for which he will now serve time in prison.

Fred and Kim Goldman are people I greatly admire. They were abused by the system in the murder trial. I will never forget the scene of shock and grief as the Goldmans heard Simpson being pronounced, “not guilty” by a clearly biased jury, Kim crying in the courtroom and Fred with a completely shocked look on his face. It was truly heartbreaking.

Yet, they continued to work within the law trying to find some measure of justice for their murdered son, Ron. I don’t think I could have followed the course Fred Goldman followed. For that, he is a greater man than I. If it had been me, I guess I would have been in jail these past thirteen years. I’ll leave it at that.

Today was a good day.

Karma: action, seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in a reincarnation.

It took over 13 years for the Karma to arrive but Karma is patient and relentless. The final chapter has finally been written and the curtain has finally fallen on this sad and lengthy drama. This man deserves to quickly fade from sight as well as from memory. The only ones who truly matter in this situation are the families of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. He may not be going to prison for what he perpetrated all those years ago but they now have peace of mind that he is going away. In a way it is not unlike a certain Al Capone going to prison, for tax evasion.

The two that should not be overlooked at this time are Nicole and Ron themselves. Hopefully they can now truly Rest in Peace.

I suspect that the critics of Mr. Goldman come from a community in which a large percentage of the ‘men’ have no concept of the words “commitment” and “family” let alone what it feels like to achingly love ones child.

mylegsareswollen on December 5, 2008 at 10:52 PM

Especially if you count the places where real men (and fathers) aren’t there.

newton on December 6, 2008 at 7:19 AM

Did anyone catch what the loud mouth thugs were screaming off camera? IT sounded like a bunch of racist OJ fans screaming at the Goldmans.

cannonball on December 5, 2008 at 2:29 PM

Don’t be surprised if that jackass screamed some anti-Jewish screed at the Goldmans.

newton on December 6, 2008 at 7:23 AM

Fred Goldman has the right to do what ever he wishes. He was pulled into a very public life by the killer of his son. I hope he, his family, and the Brown family find peace. Heaven knows they deserve it.

JonRoss on December 6, 2008 at 7:41 AM

I’m not going to gloat this morning. It won’t bring the murdered ones back. It is sad to see a one-time legend disintegrate befor your very eyes. after the murder trial, he evidently thought he was untouchable. We will all bear responsibility for our actions. Either in the world or before our Creator. O.J.’s actions finally caught up with him.

kingsjester on December 6, 2008 at 8:08 AM

I can’t watch either one of them. Glad OJ got time for what he did. It just proves what kinds of things this narcissist is capable of, a legend in his own mind who thinks he’s invincible and couldn’t possibly be convicted of a crime. Probably figured he got away with one of the most heinous crimes imaginable, armed robbery should be a piece of cake. And for what? His “stuff”. As for Goldman I can’t imagine living through such a tragedy, and as a mother my heart goes out to that family. After all these years though, he sometimes comes off as a little too self-serving and opportunistic.

scalleywag on December 6, 2008 at 9:29 AM

Hey O.J., you can still sing to your friend’s mothers when they are sick, just this time it’ll be by phone.

problem. solved.

Noneya on December 6, 2008 at 9:58 AM

I liked Ron’s comment about the fact that there’s never closure. Well put.

As a Nevadan I’m happy that my tax dollars are being spent to keep this animal behind bars.

Mojave Mark on December 6, 2008 at 10:25 AM

I bet he tries to off himself behind bars.

Justice had finally arrived for OJ.

scalleywag on December 6, 2008 at 11:11 AM

Wow, I’ve been waiting a long time to see this arrogant piece of filth get his comeuppance.

It will be nice to not have to see pictures of the smug bastard desperately searching high end golf courses for the “real killers”.

The Juice is now served on ice.

something just made me think of the song prison bitch, from the Bob and Tom show.

He was the finest running back who ever played, and a not bad actor.

I hope Bush pardons him.

Ares on December 6, 2008 at 12:56 PM

If someone murdered one of my children in cold blood and got away with it, even if they didn’t pour salt in the wound by using my child’s death to enlist public sympathy for themselves, I’d spend the rest of my life making that killer pay. And pay. And pay.

Yeah, I’d probably reach the point where the word “psychotic” would fit, and I’d probably start to irritate the general public who would be tired of hearing me rant.

And I really wouldn’t give a shit.

ral514 on December 6, 2008 at 1:15 PM

OJ was aquitted so your analogy really doesn’t make any sense.

Most likely, President Obama will.

OJ’s name is sullied in the mud. Reputation – gone. He will never get it back!
