Audio: Ros-Lehtinen on hanging up on Obama — twice

As close as we’re going to get to a recording of the actual exchange. You know what the best part is? The fact that she’s bound to be inundated now with prank calls from Obama impersonators. “Ileana? It’s Barack again. I’m just calling to follow up…”
Althouse thinks she did the right thing. I’m inclined to agree, although the idea of a phony Rahm colluding with a phony Obama verges on paranoia. Exit question: Note Howard Berman’s role. Isn’t the obvious next move for morning deejays to collaborate with friends of the target? No phone call is safe!

This story is getting over played.

I think that it is funny. ;)

Allah needs to post a Palin thread, and quick. The site is slow today.
lodge on December 4, 2008 at 12:33 PM
They did that with the Sarkozy prank didn’t they? Wasn’t it like 2 or 3 guys that were working on it?
apollyonbob on December 4, 2008 at 12:41 PM
Someone just called claiming to be my boss. I didn’t believe him, so I hung up.
Damn…the phone’s ringing again…
flipflop on December 4, 2008 at 12:42 PM
Yeah, something like:
A radio station DJ called Sarah Palin and pretended to be God so the two of them could discuss ‘His work’ — and she took the call!!!”
SlimyBill on December 4, 2008 at 12:45 PM
Where did the comments go on the other “hang up on Obama” thread?
Entelechy on December 4, 2008 at 12:49 PM
Thanks, they’re back.
Entelechy on December 4, 2008 at 12:50 PM
Damn, Allah.
I read the headline and thought you’d bartered away a kidney.
(you didn’t, did you?)
hillbillyjim on December 4, 2008 at 12:51 PM
Good thing Ros-Lehtinen didn’t deny The Guy thrice. Exit comment: What is her inside joke with Berman?
Christien on December 4, 2008 at 12:51 PM
Funny today, but what about when The One calls The Dinner Jacket, The Dear Leader (the other one, in North Korea) or Hugo the Punk to set up those meetings without preconditions and they hang up ‘cuz they don’t wanna be punked?
Who’ll be laughing then, huh?
Bruno Strozek on December 4, 2008 at 12:51 PM
This is funny, and, a little deflating for the Messiah’s ego….
DL13 on December 4, 2008 at 12:52 PM
Too good, JT, not to repeat.
In related news President George W. Bush called Maxine Waters and she said “Hello, say whaaat? Foxtrott Uniform, Hitler”, and hung up.
Entelechy on December 4, 2008 at 12:53 PM
Rahm’s question to her was as pompous as the entire farce that they are.
Entelechy on December 4, 2008 at 12:55 PM
Hey, I’m just waiting for the audio of when Obama calls the State Department, and Hillary hangs up on him twice.
jon1979 on December 4, 2008 at 1:01 PM
Why didn’t Obama just project his thoughts?
Firebird on December 4, 2008 at 1:02 PM
I’d hang up on Urkel too.
Chuck Schick on December 4, 2008 at 1:08 PM
I still think it’s hilar. I would have done the same thing. Even if I knew it was the One.
P.S. I was just accused of being a racist for calling a friend of mine’s car an Obama car. It’s one she bought when the gas prices were so high and she herself calls it her “liberal car.” It’s not even black!!! Apparently mocking Obama for his non-sensical beliefs on cars is now considered racist.
mjk on December 4, 2008 at 1:10 PM
mjk, please quit worrying. Racism is now gone in America, and with that in the world.
Dead terms: liberal, progressive, racism and independent. Henceforth only to be used with single quotes because they lost their original meaning to anyone who’s sane any more.
Entelechy on December 4, 2008 at 1:13 PM
Or appear as a burning bush?
Jim Treacher on December 4, 2008 at 1:15 PM
I have to admit that if he tried to call me, I wouldn’t be interested in taking the call.
I can’t guarantee I’d be civil.

“”Isn’t the obvious next move for morning deejays to collaborate with friends of the target? No phone call is safe!”"
Not if interested in an enduring friendship.
exdeadhead on December 4, 2008 at 1:20 PM
Nah. That’s been done to death.
hillbillyjim on December 4, 2008 at 1:23 PM
“Hello. Ileana? This is President-elect Obama. Do you have Aunt Jemima in a bag?”
CLICK.
“Hello?”
“Racist.”
CLICK.
chunderroad on December 4, 2008 at 1:25 PM
I’d be civil and polite. I’d just ask him a few very tough questions and observe him squirm, while he says “that’s not the point; that’s not the topic…bla, bla, bla”. But I’d politely guide him to the same or next tough point, until he’d get so defensive and he’d say “I’m sorry, I have to run to take care of more important matters. This country, uhh the world need me”.
Entelechy on December 4, 2008 at 1:25 PM
She should have asked something personal he would know:
“OK, if this is really Barack, then tell me what hospital were you born in.”
econavenger on December 4, 2008 at 1:34 PM
I don’t know how Washington or others do it, but if I call someone on business I call them at their work number first, before I try their cell.I’ll even leave a message for them to call me back, before i try their cell. I think she did the right thing.
vcferlita on December 4, 2008 at 1:40 PM
BAM!
SlimyBill on December 4, 2008 at 1:48 PM
Allahpundit,
Don’t you owe someone a ‘mint condition’ kidney?
BadgerHawk on December 4, 2008 at 1:49 PM
If someone suspects that they are being pranked(as was successfully done to Sarah Palin) by something like a radio station, it’s perfectly reasonable to think that they (the staff, the voice actor or comedian) would try again as someone else close to the person they are mimicking. So they could succeed.
If the news were that she hung up on every political person who called her, democrat, republican, news media and her own staff .. then you could make that claim.
wise_man on December 4, 2008 at 1:55 PM
Well, he could truthfully reply, “I don’t remember.”
Jim Treacher on December 4, 2008 at 2:45 PM
From the AP…”She said Obama called to congratulate her on her re-election, saying he was looking forward to working with her as the ranking Republican member of the House Foreign Affairs committee.”
Yea, right. Obama already starting the charm offensive(using the capacity of the Office of the President-Elect, of course) on those GOP’ers potentially vulnerable to it.
Puddleglum on December 4, 2008 at 3:11 PM
But are the tires properly inflated?
malclave on December 4, 2008 at 3:35 PM
Well hell! It isn’t as if the call was from someone really important, like Governor Palin for instance. /sarc
