Obama always seemed to take himself a mite too seriously during the campaign, and I like to see a sense of humor on an elected official. Obama’s speech at the AE Smith Memorial Dinner had moments, but McCain blew him away.

The ability to be lighthearted and playful is a sign of someone who can decenter from his or her self-importance. Of course, too much of this takes away from the gravitas thing (e.g., Clinton always seemed as though he was trying too hard to ingratiate himself, at the expense of his stature…and we’ve seen what lay behind that impulse!).

If nothing else, a bit of comedy can make the next four years go by a bit more quickly.

There’ll probably be plenty of unintentional comedy over the next four years. Obama doesn’t strike me as someone who is comfortable with self-deprecating humor, which requires a little less ego and more perspective. That stupid Office of The President-Elect placard is funny enough.

And, as for Fox News, they need to get more aggressive later on. If Obama doesn’t take questions from Fox because they won’t wipe his a$$, I’m gonna be even more pissed. Bush always has had to take questions from the MSM because he cannot rely on the liberal MSM journalists to defend him.

Sly like a Fox. Ask him a serious of inocuous questions when no one cares…and then lower the boom when people are watching.

But to what effect? The people who put credence in Fox already know the score, and the Obamatrons see and hear no evil. The One gets a 2 year honeymoon from here. As the economy improves (which it will) the honeymoon is extended.

Our conservative cause has serious and honest work to do just to make people receptive to doubt about Our Leader.
