India ready to inject surviving Mumbai jihadi with truth serum; Update: Jihadis’ website registered in U.S.?

He claims he’s from Pakistan, Pakistan claims there’s no proof. Much depends on the answer, needless to say.
Police hope to discover whether gunman Azam Amir Kasab came from Pakistan through the use of “narcoanalysis” – a practise banned in most democracies.
The technique was used during the Cold War before it emerged that barbiturate sodium pentothal induced hallucinations, delusions and psychotic manifestations.
Police have reason to believe he’s from somewhere called Faridkot, but it turns out there are several villages by that name and no one’s sure which is the right one. Residents of the most likely candidate, in Punjab, insist they’ve never heard of him or his surname. Are they lying to keep Pakistani police out of their hair? Could be, but in fact our boy doesn’t fit the profile of someone from a poor backwater. He speaks fluent English, for one thing, and told cops that he was sold to Lashkar e-Taiba by his father when it’s unlikely that a “draftee” would be chosen for a mission this important. He’s the one who’s probably lying. Or maybe he was just high at the time, as I suggested he might have been in one of my earlier posts. I wonder, is LSD the best thing to take while executing an intricate paramilitary operation?
Indian analysts tell Reuters that a retaliatory strike against Pakistan is unlikely since it hasn’t worked before and wouldn’t achieve much now except to replace the current government with a more radical one. I’m not sure how “international pressure” on Pakistan to purge the jihadis in its military and intel services is supposed to work either, though. If the U.S. and UK press too hard, Pakistan can’t comply without looking like a western puppet; if Russia and China press too hard … er, why would they press too hard? They’ve never done so before. If anything, Pakistan’s doing them a favor by keeping a potential superpower preoccupied.
ABC claims that as many as 14 jihadis could be on the lam and headed to New Delhi for a follow-up attack, but read all the way down for an amazing detail. The training for Mumbai might have begun a year ago or even earlier, a detail corroborated by the Journal’s account of two jihadis arrested by Indian police who confessed they were part of a gang that entered Mumbai and then split up into pairs … after arriving by sea. The date of that arrest? March 2007.
Update: Not only is the website for Lashkar’s “charity” hosted in the United States, they’re registered under their actual name. Any enterprising tort lawyers want to teach Dreamhost a painful lesson?

If it were our Military, they would be thrown in Levingworth for torture tactics!

It is interesting that since this happened – Iran is not in the news much.
Granted – that could be my lack of keeping up, but there are other nuclear power (wannabes) that might have a dog in this fight.
kybowexar on December 3, 2008 at 4:05 PM
India should, if all else fails, take out the terror camps in Pakistan and invoke the response to 9/11. It’d be the right thing to do.

Ask him if eternal subjugation and/or warfare against infidels is obligatory for all Muslims as per Islamic doctrine.
That would be a real time-saver.
awake on December 3, 2008 at 4:14 PM
Forgive my ignorance but… so? What, permanent hallucinations and manifestations? Anyway I say go for it assuming they are 100% sure of his involvement.

I can’t even begin to imagine tripping on acid during a fire fight.
I’m pretty sure it would be a detriment to performance.

A group of Hindi speaking commandos in black land in Zodiacs in Karachi, lob grenades and fire flamethrowers into Paki civilian crowds, and leave.
India says that Pakistan has no proof that these people were from India.
Kristopher on December 3, 2008 at 4:19 PM
They are afraid of giving a mass murderer delusions and psychotic manifestations?
Why do I have an easy time saying, so what…or why do I have a difficult time deciding if a mass murderer isn’t already full of delusions and psychotic manifestations.
right2bright on December 3, 2008 at 4:20 PM
Why are they telling everybody?
CP on December 3, 2008 at 4:21 PM
That struck me as intensely weird, even for muslims.
As to the truth serum, they’d be better off sexually humiliating (really humiliating) the guy on videotape and then distributing the tapes around the muslim world. People need to understand the fundamental importance of a macho image to muslim men. Take that away, and then some, and you will see muslims start to change their tunes pretty quickly.

Aaargh! You beat me to it!
Laura in Maryland on December 3, 2008 at 4:23 PM
I hope he not only gets truth serum but is a voluntary patient for experimental medical research. Whatever.
The left gets their panties in a knot over water boarding the very people who were behind the murder of 3,000 American men women and children.
I say wring the guy out and then grind him down.
Does anyone seriously believe he’s not been tortured? He just started spilling his operational guts over a cup of mint tea and chicken curry?
Torture works when done right.
mmmmm, curious the left has been so silent about this killer’s civil liberties and lack of due process.
moxie_neanderthal on December 3, 2008 at 4:26 PM
Probably the same thought process which creates a SOP for scrubbing the injection site with alcohol prior to administering a capital punishment IV to a convicted murderer. Although, I’m sure that is done for image and perception.
a capella on December 3, 2008 at 4:31 PM
See this is something I could get behind. Truth serum actually DOES work. And torture, however good it might make you feel, doesn’t get accurate information.
DeathToMediaHacks on December 3, 2008 at 4:38 PM
Waterboard all the way with this maggot
Viper1 on December 3, 2008 at 4:38 PM
Unfortunately, India will do nothing. There is a major difference between us striking Afghanistan and Iraq after 9/11 — countries with a piss-poor military — and India going after Pakistan with their nuclear weapons and their stated intent to use them on India if provoked. That is exactly what Condi is telling India now.
India is in a position to start clamping down harder on insurgents and on their borders and should take this opportunity to do that. The Indian people will be fine with some heads being cracked open internally but any aggression into Pakistan could be a disaster.
Fortunately, The Black Caesar has appointed Hillary to take over at State and keep that part of the world settled. Hopefully, she won’t have to deal with being fired upon like she was while her husband was invading interns.

I agree with Viper1, waterboard the fucker – then hang him!

Actually they shouldn’t kill him, because over time they can squeeze more information of out him. Anyway, a guy who failed to consummate a suicide mission is not going to be afraid of a bullet. Just endlessly play tapes explaining how Islam is a fake religion, they will drive him nuts. If that doesn’t work, just make him watch the View a few times.
pedestrian on December 3, 2008 at 5:10 PM
Forget the serum. This is a simple math problem.
Start removing his digits. All of them.

Jack Bauer could extract the truth from this maggot.

…why must we constantly live in fear of lawyers…it can be proven that the attackers were or weren’t from Pakistan, were or weren’t aided by Pakistan, trained by Pakistan, etc…rules of evidence in the face of mass murder?
The mere fact that the ISI and their benighted government act as a safe haven for dozens of unaligned wackos, giving them, in many cases, not only harbor but logistical support, makes it likely that they’re at the bottom of this…so, we go into the after-action machinations with a preponderance of evidence that Pakistan, or at least free-lancers within a military for which Pakistan is liable, is in this up to their turbans….
…so, use whatever means the bloody mind of man can devise to make this captive fellow as useful as possible — they attack wanting martyrdom, let’s see them given reason to prefer it to capture next time — and then display him, a gibbering idiot for all to see…and then disappear him…a fate he deserves if for no other reason than his even oblique involvement in the deaths at the Jewish center….
…and let us not get all precious about his “rights”…he’s not a combattant…he’s a thug….
…supporting this sort of treatment may not be in keeping with the ethics of a democratic nation…but it is in keeping with the defense of a democratic people…we live in the real world…and in it, people will kill babes at their mothers’ breast for Allah, for “the state”, for “the party”, and for some other intangible…so…kill ‘em back….

Their website is not only hosted by an American company, but upon further research, I was able to find the person you can contact at Lashkar e-Taiba, or JamatDawa. His email host is Google and he has a gmail account….pathetic. Let’s all email him to tell him exactly what we think about their terrorist organization and their senseless killing of hundreds:

After the Indians are done with their truth-serum induced conversations, they should take this piece of $h!* onboard one of their frigates in the Indian Ocean, secure a chain of sausage-links around his neck, tie him up to a chair , and throw him overboard.
macncheez on December 3, 2008 at 9:00 PM
Seems to me that now is the time to have that conversation about torture that made everyone so very crazy a few years ago.
I don’t care if they inject molten lead in his ears, but I am curious – with 180 people murdered, what do the U.S. lefty weenies and McCain types think about extracting valuable information from this maggot through brutal tactics? Seems kinda quiet over there in the fever swamp…
Jaibones on December 3, 2008 at 9:03 PM
Before the debate on “torture”of muslim killers is initiated, here is what needs to happen :
1. There should be NO wall, security perimeter and secure airspace over the white house , the capitol building, and the supreme court
2. There should be no metal detectors and security detail @ any government building and courts
3. No person , of any rank , whose salary is paid by the taxpayers of this country , should get taxpayer subsidised security. AT ALL. If they want security, they can pay for it themselves.
4. Every elected official in DC should be sent to Gaza , Fallujah and Tora Bora , as a part of their orientation, and made to walk around with no guards, no bullet-proof vests, on friday evenings.
When they have to live like the rest of us , they will think about dying like the rest of us.

In a rational world the USA, Israel, India and Europe would recognize that we’re all fighting the same enemy-Islam and would unite to defeat it and protect their civilization.
In the real world people stick their heads in the sand, blame themselves, excuse the enemy, practice willful ignorance, ‘hope’ things will get better and allow the enemy free rein.
thinkagain on December 3, 2008 at 11:56 PM
Why does India need to reveal what they are doing to the terrorist? This is like the time NYT announced that we were tracking Bin Laden’s mobile phone usage.
jediwebdude on December 4, 2008 at 1:48 AM
“Truth serum” not a good fix. The more that is used, the more nuts the subject gets, at least that’s what I read (no actual experience!).
That’s why they invented water boards…
doufree on December 4, 2008 at 10:24 AM
Not that well. As part of interrogation training, we were given a cover story and then interrogated under sodium pentothal. We then listened to a tape of the session. While the general parameters of my cover story was broken, most of the details were way off. I would be hesitant to rely too much on chemical interrogation. This guy should spill where he grew up though but that’s probably all they’re going to get taht is of any value.
