Really? I had no idea, we got pulled out of our racks and took a pretty good beating with the fire hoses, crawled through 2 weeks of garbage stuffed in fart sacks, got dipped in oil and feathered before we had the priv of sucking the crisco cherry. It was a half day Ob-course, unpleasant at the time but brings a smile today.

How is that not PC?

Naw, but when we were in El Salvador the locals who were daytime beaners and night time FMLN, asked us why we kept shuttling back and forth to the big scary LSD off shore, we told them we had to make sure the laser canons were calibrated. They didn’t even blink an eye.

LOL… Nope… Retired Navy Senior Enlisted…

Went to Nuke School class 8006… but scram’d when I figured out what I would really be doing as an RO.

Then was first stationed on a Gator Freighter, and started playing with the Marines doing support (I was the guy they called when they couldn’t fix their own equipment, or the embassies in Lebanon)… which got me into intel work… I was one of the Geeks with Guns…

Then did some things I can’t talk about… but think High Level Electronics and Guns…

Was on a Destroyer during Desert Storm… doing Borading Ops in the Gulf…

Then back to stuff I can’t talk about… LOL…

Oh, it’s like sending the new guy out for 100 feet of flight line or a gallon of prop wash. Checkered paint is a classic, but doesn’t beat collecting an exhaust sample for believability. A particular favorite is changing the summer air in tires for winter air.

Heh. I was told a story about a nerdy college kid who was bothering meteorology techs working on a radar. They asked him to go fetch a radar beam.

I even saw a FNG at a restaurant get sent to a neighboring restaurant for steam because they were out of it…the funniest part was that she actually brought some back!

Hilarious! OK, when I was a firefighter we used to send the new recruits to the engines to get the henway.
