Jim Martin #1: Run-off Day

Today’s the big day for Georgia voters — and a whole lot of other people around the country. In fact, that’s the point behind the latest NRSC ad on behalf of incumbent Saxby Chambliss. Jim Martin has a lot of friends outside of Georgia:
In all fairness, this election has the attention of many people outside of Georgia, and for good reason. Republicans want Saxby Chambliss to win the election to keep Harry Reid from having a filibuster-proof Senate majority. Democrats want Martin to win to keep Republicans irrelevant for the next two years. A lot of Democrats were willing to pony up serious cash to help Martin win for that reason.
It doesn’t appear to have done much good. Chambliss has opened a seven-point lead over Martin, about double the gap from a month ago. If Georgia didn’t cast its votes for Obama then, it’s highly unlikely they’ll do so today.

Time for the Republicans to make a HUGE statement with a BIG turnout.
DON’t let the Dems have a stronger number.

I had to stay home from work today with some sort of stomache virus, but I will still drag my sorry arse to the polls. That’s Georgia values, son.

I think the lead can absolutely attributed to the catchy little piano music in the ads. It reminds me of the sound track to “A Charlie Brown Christmas“

Now that Palin has helped Chambliss close the deal the conventional MSM wisdom will be that he was destined to win all along. No need for the Wasilla Wonder to drop in at all.

is chambliss even trying to make the case for why we should vot FOR him? Seems that everything is about what a boogie-man Martin is and how the ONLY way to stop Obama/Reid/Pelosi is to vote for Saxby…
Yawn…

I voted for Chambliss this morning to stop the creation of a super-majority in the senate. That is a very compelling reason to me.
An opposition’s campaign almost always creates a mythos that portrays the opposed in an unflattering light. If that causes Jim Martin to be perceived by some as a “boogie-man” then so be it. Obama’s campaign created a John McCain for his supporters that was at least as heinous. And I didn’t see any of them yawning.

Either you don’t live in Atlanta or did not watch much football on Thanksgiving and at the weekend because you missed the 6,000th (slight exaggeration) commercial of Saxby with the whole family talking positive about Saxby and nicely asking for their vote for their “Big Daddy!” Nor the 27 million (not an exaggeration) of Saxby’s “I won’t to reduce your taxes.”
